Thank u for the hot glue tip, makes it easy to remove glue block. Also made one of your chose bowls....great instructions, thank u. Your projects our outstanding.
I love the combination of woods and how the swirls turn out in the bowl (and it could obviously be done with any number of different woods). But, what I like even better, is how this system of cutting out those rings and then stacking them saves a lot of wood. Why waste 3-4 feet of lumber on a project that could be done with less than one? Using a variety of angles for the cutout, it'd even be possible to change the shape of the bowl. Definitely glad I watched this video: two relatively easy to grasp tricks in one.
Bro I’ve been watching your videos and they just put me in such a good mood. You are amazing! Thanks for passing on your knowledge. It’s a great contribution to humanity!
Hi Gary, Superb my friend and it is still something on my to do list. Staying with a friend for the weekend picking up some new toys (tools) and wood. Take care Gary. Cheers, Huw
Never imagined that I would subscribe to a wood turning channel - turned many artefacts from a ten foot former for part of a roof construction in fibre-glass, to segmented pieces, to complex patterns for lamp posts, to miniature boxes - but you have given me ideas. Just proves someone is never too old to learn. I think I must be about three years older than your good self. It is a credit to you!
Thank you Anthony and it sounds like you have done a lot of what I have done. I also have turned many large patterns. Some were going to be dome shapes cast in titanium and many forms for making fiberglass parts. We also made many patterns from lamp post and fancy cover plates for a place called Pioneer Square here in Portland. You sound as though you are a former pattern maker as well? Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you very much Mike. Because the Padauk was dark from sitting around unfinished it did not really look good until I turned it. Then it was pretty exciting to get finished. Thanks for watching and God bless, Gary
Thank you so much I appreciate you watching and commenting. By the way math was always my favorite subject and I used it everyday at work as a wood pattern maker. Mostly geometry and trigonometry. Gary
Hi, I have enjoyed watching your videos. I sure liked this one. I am 90 years young and i turn wood bowls. I have access to lumber I sawed years ago on my band saw mill. I use layers of different types of wood to make my bowls. Your video is something something I could do. Thank you so much.
Hi Gary I just started watching your channel. I would say it is the best and most informative I’ve seen. I have subscribed. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Mark

Thank you very much Ray. Funny when I got the Padauk out it had darkened from sitting in the light and it almost looked like the Walnut. But I knew once I turned it the colors would be back. Thanks for watching my friend, Gary
Thank you very much Robert. I like to see others try something that looks hard but really is not if they see how it is done. Thanks for watching and commenting, Gary
Your chaos really shows your talent. Not only for fine craftsmanship but also for saving material and eye for color. Thank you for sharing this video. My kids and I enjoyed it and I'm sure we will watch it often.
