It is a beautiful vehicle! I have a Mercedes, an 11 year old 750li, and the new x7 fully loaded. Went from the x5 to the x7 and it was a great leap! Although the speed of the 2nd row seats are extremely slow, it doesn't take away from the qualities and beauty of the car.
My wife and I test drove an X7 back in early 2020 and it has the nicest interior of any vehicle I have been in. Much nicer than the Aviator, Navigator, Q7 and XC90 we also test drove. I think the only thing that might give it a run for the money is the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which is also a lot more spacious but drives like a truck.
I guess the grille is no longer controversial. It's interesting how time changes perspective on styling. Anyway, Radiohead probably sounds awesome blasting through the X7's sound system.
My friend has GLS and I have X7. I have driven both cars. GLS interior look cool but the materials are not as high quality as BMW. The build quality in BMW x7 is much better than GLS. There's no rattle or weird noises in the x7. But in the MB, there are creaks and rattles. The wood creaks a lot in the GLS... It's not acceptable for how much the car costs. Overall, I went for the X7 because there is a big difference in build quality... IN terms of driving, I can't give it to GLS neither since X7 is much more luxurious feeling than x5, it is not just a bigger x5. For most of my time in the X7 i feel like i'm gliding on ice... so damn smooth. So whatever GLS can do in comfort, the x7 is the same. That aside, in terms of handling, x7 clear winner. In terms of stereo, at stock, 1st level upgrade 2nd level upgrade, music sounds better in x7 no matter what level of stereo you have. And no I am not bmw biased since my last car was a GLE. Trust me, while interior might look cooler in the GLS now, the build quality is not there... And lastly, space. Yes, GLS wins. But in terms of how quiet it is in the car, the x7 is closer to Bentley level than the GLS.
Always found it amusing when manufacturers put things that make a vehicle as “standard” on the monroni sticker, like there would be an instance that those aren’t. Wheels: standard. Nah I’ll pass… 😏
Great review lol, I remember drawing a rough sketch if an x7 back in the early 2000s bc I loved the first gens style so much and there was a 7 seater wave around that time too.
You kind of ran over the dynamic handling package there. It literally adds rear wheel steering, active control arms to keep the car centered around corners and road preview that watches the road and adjust the suspension accordingly. It's a big deal and makes this huge car very maneuverable. I have one. So I would know. But carry-on lol
$75k sounds about right actually. If I were in the market anyway I don’t think the price would be a dealbreaker. Mind you if its my money I’m still getting a 5 series.
Im not trying to be cocky for saying this. I just observed that top car channels have one thing in common. Fixed camera viewing. They usually avoid moving camera views. They set the cam on a tripod. It seems to be a better choice than a camera keeps moving.
@@bekchik Yes, I’ve heard only good things about the B58. Very reliable, no doubt about it - Just wondering about the rest of the car, such as if any electrical issues are common. We’ve had an E90 and while the N52 was great, it had many electrical issues.
I could tell right from the start that he didn't like the X7. He was needlessly sarcastic throughout the review. The only thing I agree with is the slow 2nd row folding seats. Everything else seemed like he half-assed an attempt at using a feature in order to make it fail, just to make fun of it. I usually like his reviews, but this one was clearly biased.
A client of mine said (driving her husbands X7) i was hot so she opened the window! Must have missed the primer! Tech overload! And yes...She can speak!
It's my favorite of the class right now. The Escalade and Range Rover are right there as well. At this far into the X7, it's time for you guys to test the XB7.
I’m a little surprised when you brought up more affordable/competitive 3 row SUVs, and did not mention the Cadillac XT6. I only mention that because you threw in the Kia Telluride as a cheaper 3 row alternative. And I thought it would be worth it to bring up the iconic luxury American brand to at least get mentioned in all of these imported (except Lincoln) brands. Nice and fun review though.
About the waiting time for the second row to move.. I guess time is not a problem for people who drive such luxurious cars. The most fastest is manual which we just pull the latch under the seat and push forward..like 2.5 seconds It's like the hatch on your fighter plane takes a bit longer to close while your avionics. Weapon payload. Supersonic speed. Stealth..surpasses everyone in town
Power motorized everything is a terrible idea. Those power folding seats take eons, but manuals just drop quickly and get out of the way. It's not an improvement.
Hell in the US, you can't even upgrade the stereo from base at the moment due to supply issues. So this review was upsetting cuz i was considering one but a 80K+ car with a base audio system is nuts
With the refrigerator standard, all your missing is a stove and sink and you can live in your BMW X7. Handy when the lease payments tear away your earnings and you have to live in your car
@@WesLey-yv8vi If you’re spending 100K fuel economy and reliability shouldn’t even be a concern because you can theoretically afford the gas and repairs costs If you buy a cheap corolla or Camry or rav4 something like that then reliability is very important
@@naveenthemachine I take your point, they can afford it… but why excuse unreliability with that point, instead of demanding a high-quality product that doesn’t break? People balance reliability with other factors, the fact that Alfa Romeo operates in the US is proof of that. But why shouldn’t we demand reliability?
@@wilmotown I think at this price point it’s all about brand image. Sure quality is better but that quality can break over time. A typical luxury car will be less reliable after a while even with the highest quality interior
That pretty tight inside.... the second row is tight with very little leg room....the 3rd row is even worse.... Micah is only 5'10" ft tall and the rear seats are tight enough already... if you want a 7 passenger vehicle then just get a minivan

@@kristians2704 well, it's not that I wanna own 3 at the same time. But, I wouldn't put lot of amount of money for one car and get hit with the depreciation of almost 50 percent in less than 3 years. Plus the skyrocketing cost of maintenance.

best full siezed luxury SUV imo
Great job as always Micah. Best in the business.
about time a damn refrigerator is standard in a car
I just found the most american comment guys!
That is one handsome looking SUV!
If I’ve were to buy a BMW it will be that one for sure.
A great SUV that has an amazing ride and plenty of features. I chose this over the Escalade.
Are your satisfied with your choice and how is your review of this suv after 1 year ?
Thanks
I like the x7 but I would get m-sport package look. With the Inline 6.

Try Lexus RX and Genesis GV80, you are missing out.

Don’t get the turbo engine. They are notorious for burning oil like crazy causing the head gaskets to wear out.

those few seconds alone with the grill were deeply emotional for me

With Thom Yorke, Sparklehorse, covering Pink Floyd's Wish You Where Here..A drop-top S-Class Benz with the LED RGB rocking might be sweet!
This grill wasn't the controversial one. It was the extra tall one they put on some of the sedan/coupe models.

Have they fixed with the newer models the speed of the seats in the back? I'm shocked they put this into production being that slow

We’re looking at a 2020 BMW X7 xDrive40i, with 28,000 miles. How’s reliability for 2020+ X7’s with the Inline 6? Thanks.
