This show was amazing. Nothing like it. The layers that the animation brought wasn’t a “gimmick” but was used out of necessity. We got to deep dive into the psyche of Alma. Through her eyes and mind. Bravo. Can’t wait for season 2

One of my fave adult animations! nice to see taking adult animation to fantasy-drama steps and have the Ralph Bakshi (American Pop or Fire and Ice) kind of rotoscoping. This show has a Lynch like feel to it
Watched the whole show in one go yesterday and it is absolutely stunning. I love art and it transfers the story itself so well. I love the actors as well. And seeing the main actress in real life now is really weird for me hah. Like, you know its real people they "painted over" but it's still unreal that its not just animation and those people actually EXIST. how great is that.
Although there were some uncanny moments and what I found unintentionally funny, this show had a great script, good score and directing that may influence the animation medium. The concept could only be done on animation, but the painting style helps the world grounded and intimate since the message is also honest and real.
This is the event horizon of the uncanny valley. Right at the line where we can speculate that there is an actual human there, and our fear is moot. So... we watch.
Beautifully done . I'm about to watch it. Stylistically A Scanner Darkly is one of my favorites and this reminds me of that film A lot. After seeing it was done in rotoscope and set in San Antonio Texas , I figured it was another Richard Linklater film like a scanner darkly and I was kind of shocked when I saw it wasn't him. It looks amazing . Amazon prime video is killing it lately with their originals. The Boys is so good !

It never occurred to me to use rotoscope like that, but it works. Is she actually bending time around herself, or does she just think she is?
Animated media can have depth to it, no need to justify Rosa. This show is honestly SO SO amazing and I was even inspired to talk about it on my channel (Shameless self-plug), if anyone interested in joining the discussion come over to my channel and join me in appreciating this amazing show. The facial animations are so amazingly captured, and I could talk all day about them.

I was lucky enough to sit for the Alamo Drafthouse screenings of the first 2 episodes: I watched ALL the promotional materials before, and STILL wasn’t prepared for how moving and sharply crafted the show is; I cried 3x and laughed so much over the hour screening
turborock some green screen, but the environments are more based on real textures of the oil paintings and less on library renders; furthermore the rotoscoping is a tracked trace all of which governs the aesthetic which is yes an advancement of an older technique, but combined in a new way in a medium they’ve never been employed in

I think the setting is pretty obvious that they were homaging Waking Life because Undone is set in San Antonio Texas.

I think she means that the perspective is accurate, so that even those unaccustomed to viewing (2D or 2.5D) animations can feel totally immersed.
