Been to the Disney Concert Hall for a concert with organ and orchestra (the LA Philharmonic). As an organist , I wish that the commentator had mentioned that the organ pipes are fastened to the stage floor by cables. Reason being in case of an earthquake they would just topple down restrained and not thrown about the building causing potential harm to people as well as more unwanted damage to the structure That also explains the slanted position of the pipes. The organ was built by the Rosales organ company in Portland, OR. Another interesting bit re this building is that when the it was completed the stainless steel exterior reflected the sun into apartment buildings nearby necessitating a coating of anti-glare material throughout. Another interesting building in the same Bunker Hill neighborhood and near the Disney is the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Way cool creativity! I regret seeing the envious critiques. Many of these criticisms do not seem to understand that prosperity and creativity are not zero sum games.

I can't wait until we get a movie theater sphere in kc-mo! I wish I had someone to go with, so I can wait. It will still be a blessing to take and go with young people so they can enjoy their childhood, with a safe chaperone! Thank you. Satan steals our souls, but God finds a way to give it back. May God be in everything that happens here, so we can move forward, so that slavery and captivity can end forever, in all countries.

There’s a building in Xi’an, North China? Or in Anhui shaped like a huge tall book. M sure if its a library or an office building as it was only pointed out by the locals.

Most of them built with shameful huge budgets, and extremely exclusivist. As an architect interested more in sustainability and inclusivity, i can not appreciate such extravagance rising from the ego of local administrations, private investors and architects.
Lots of Dubaish pieces made by starchitects. Not fit in their place, but creating the initial wow-sensation. Did they asked the locals if they like those?

When the engineers are in charge, a building may be blocky and efficient, but boring. When the artists are in charge, the building may be a colorful flight of fancy, though perhaps not as functional. My taste is somewhere in between. Some of these creative structures may be interesting to look at, but they may be expensive to maintain and may not age well. For me, good architecture combines form and function, and neither the engineer nor the artist should run amok.

Why don't you Yanks give dimensions in metres, rather than parts of bodies?
It's just plain weird and extremely arrogant, that although Americans account for less than 10% of the world's population, they expect the other 90% to bow down to them and use measurements in body parts.
