- Ex. OC Transpo #4040, a 1999 Orion VI 06.501 (VIN 1VH669P77X6600106) seen at the scrapyard being destroyed. 4040 was one of the last Orion VI buses out of 140 to be in service for OC Transpo after 14 years on the road.
These are my child hood memories late night Acid with the boys on the back of one of these when it was on a 'non stop route' in a big loop
@@golddropper2747 Yep. Only a couple loop routes exist today. 37, 63, 64, 131, and 197
As I recall, after the 13:00 minute mark they changed their mind and put this bus back in service.
well.., the bus is *parts in service*
Lol
Bahahahahahahahahaha
i dont know why but i feel bad for the bus
Before you all start sobbing. The Orion VI was a complete lemon. They were catching on fire in many transit agencies. Plus it sucks because it’s completely low floor.
Well I hope they ripped out the good gauges, controls before hand,,if not what a wast
I remember taking this bus to school, 149 Elmvale. Great memories!
The city of New Orleans still uses 100 year old streetcars on regular routes. One built in 1890 is still running on one route.
London's Routemasters ran for around 40 years.
I miss that bus as much as I miss James who retired from my class aka graduation
this isn't my favorite or hated bus, but its still sad to see it scraped.
In all honesty, I love the VI. I worked on many of them in Ottawa and found them to be a great bus. Sure they don't rank with Silversides or Classics but they were a decent bus that held the road and did the job.
🎄
That crane lifted that bus like it was a toy
*Some buses run for 40 years and have a mileage of 2 million km. And he's still carrying people.*
Есть и старше автобусы. Но они не в коммерции.
There are also older buses. But they are not in commerce.
that was a good bus
They should donate other countries instead of scrapping the bus!
Let's stop this madness! Buses are people too!

@@ellymaury4585 Buses are not people. They need to be ripped apart and the metal recycled. If you would like to buy them and store the junk, you are welcome to do so.
Conspiracy of planned obsolency
@Sonic57053 The Transit Fanner Well, Buses are not animate objects. I appreciate you may have an affection for them, but they are not the same as living people with brains and central nervous systems.
You need to cut to the chase and realise this.
Yes, preserve buses if you want to do so yourself, but don't rely on others to do it.
People dies too.
THIS IS EPIC AND INTERESTING WITH THE DIGGER
Man this would be an epic motorhome what a waste
When many believe a former school bus or even a transit bus could make for an epic mobile office or even a motorhome when they couldn't bear watching a grappler take chunks out of a former Ottawa transit bus.
Not in Canada.
What is this bus was broken and the company that made the parts doesn’t make those parts anymore
@@daniellibich1376 a schoolbus is a truck chassis without air ride…
Looks like Glenview Iron And Metal near Smiths Falls. They get a lot of decomissioned OC Transpo buses.
Wait! I left my bag on the bus!
Well it's now worthless and there ain't nothing you can do about it.
@@chandlerbranchrailfanprodu5928 Go to hell

Not eyeballs is a windshield
These buses could of been given to a village or a small town instead of a scrap yard I would have these good buses , very sad to see them go for scrap.
What if it doesn't have a working engine? What is it good for then? It's just steel and fiberglass.
They gave 4 of those busses to my town an hour away from ottawa
Sault Ste Marie Transit received 10 of the buses as well 2 years ago.

@@anthonyfabb I've got to ride those ex OC's. I grew up with them!
I agree. They sent the old white trolly buses from Vancouver down to Argentina about 6 years ago. They were far older than this bus.
A Orion VI weights 18, 488KG
"I'm feeling like a wrecking ball."
Do you know if some of the old OC Transpo GM New Look buses went to the scrapyard, or were they mostly bought up by other transit agencies and bus collectors? The New Look is a much more iconic bus than the Orion VI, but I'm still sad to see the Orion VI's gone.
14 years on the road isn't enough, the old 1980's- 1990's Nova buses in my city on MTA New York City Bus are still being used today, most of them are. But the Orion v series are not being used anymore, I guess those buses are being scraped, too. Both of them, Even the CNG series. Not the ones on the Long Island bus group.
4123 and 4124 are also supposed to be there as well as 4012, 4013 and 4028 i also saw 4114
I prefect converter the bus for Motorhome, is a practic house for the family
I left MY PAPERBUSES ON THERE
Some places have put beds in old buses and made them available to homeless people so they have somewhere safe to sleep.
Yeah they need to do more of this
A Bus's nightmare: GETTING SCRAPPED
i believe Transit Windsor has 12 Orion VIs in regular service. They are on the Walkerville 8 and South Windsor 7 a lot.
Unfortunately, once a vehicle reaches the end of its lifespan, continuous repairs and overhauls don't help anymore.
I miss that bus it was on Mighty Machines
Same I love when it was on that show even CTV news I youst Tous watch mighty machines when I was young and little
i can not believe chile has better busses than australia
That poor destination sign flip-dot display!!!!!!!
D
Porque no los convierten..en casa rodante
I saw at the Ottawa scrap yard (I think because I saw it when I was outside of the yard) a GM Classic. Also, they should have kept at least a model of each highfloor bus they scraped in 2011. I, myself also like buses.
It was an MCI Classic, bus #8902. I went to that yard in Jan 2018 only to find out that someone bought it!
Why are you damaging these buses
They are old, they lose durability over time and become outdated, buses put on over 1000 kilometers a day,
A large portion of the OTC/OC Transpo New Looks went to scrap.
13 years seems pretty short for a bus in Canada.
The Buses in Germany are Live 15 Years
They got to be kidding. Why this has to be destroyed?
Cause they're a household of dicks that's why
Probably internal issuse that would have been more to fix than to get a new bus
Probably because the Orion VI hasn't been used as a bus in ottawa for 6 years???
That looks very fun
I could've used it as an Intercity bus line if It was in my UKS city in my Minecraft PE, too bad it's already being scraped now.
Very Nice this
Will u sale this india..we need this type of bus
That would have been great for a RV motor home
cool but not funny when you are the operator and your job is to scrap a dozen such buses in just an afternoon and your boss expects you to leave nothing but a sorted pile of scrap metal at the end of the day!
I am speaking out of my own experience when I worked on a scrapyard many years ago, even though it can be fun destroying things as quick as possible and you dont have to care to avoid scratches...lol!
,
No lie - I drove that bus out of the Pine garage!
I got to see 4024 and Pine a year ago. I hope they restore it and put it in revenue service or have special charters! Personally, I like 6001 and 8222 the best! Sucks they scrapped An Orion I, III, and NFL from the 80's back in 2007, horrible idea!.
@@loudinvero4516 Me Too!!!!
Literally they can always sit in a field of grass rather than being torn up
first 10 minutes... may i take a seat in the back ?? or the drivers seat ? :-)
WHY?!
It's old and can't be used
I wonder how many KMs it had on it.
@@goalie860 It should be more than that. Remember, these were the only large-scale accessible buses because of OC Transpo couldn't buy more Accessible Orion II's in the 90's The Orion VI's were the only accessible buses in the entire system between 1999 - 2003 (excluding the 20 1997 NovaBus LFS, which only had anywhere between 22,000KM - 250,000Km because they broke down so often!)
Who replaced these buses
When you forget something on the bus... This it what happens to the bus
Destination sign and all... Oh man I think I will be the only one that misses the 6's though.
Hunter04 you are not alone im also into these
Transit Windsor will likely still have Orion VIs until 2025, so don't worry.
Вроде хороший автобус с виду, не гнилой. Жалко! 😥😥😥
Only place to arrive on time ! Lol
If anyone has any photos of bus 4065 or videos please reach out to me. It ended up in Sault Ste Marie and I became rather attached and its now waiting for this to happen to it thanks
don't let the bus fall
Why has this bus been crushed ... ??? 😩
Why has it been destroyed ... ??? 😩
It's like a lion eating a gazelle carcass.
Were they only in use for nine years? That's not long for the life of a bus.
Flossie1985 That Engine hated the Bus its like Roxana Hates me
Also cars are people TOO!!!!
The middle of the bus looks destroyed
It appears to me that crushing the entire length of the bus from the top might prove quicker I
😮 Something like that can still be used. Why destroy it?
LOL this guy is just havin a blast
may i sit near the red door next time ??? :-)
I live in a small city and we have these city busses
Which one
To be honest with everyone, I never had any positive things to say about these buses and they are better off scrapping them since they weren't that good. Although I will say this. Thanks them, we have the more improved Orion VIIs and thousands of those are now on the roads.
La primera ves que veo uno de estos buses sin puerta central y lo desguasan
How come you scrap them instead of sell them to somebody that could get a use out of them like turn them into an RV or something?
Because there aren't people in mass wanting to do that. Faster to sell X amount to a scrap yard. FYI, OC did sell 20 of them to 2 other transit agencies in Ontario.
For sure yeah like Sault Ste Transit Marie but they were all retired unfortunately.

I hope that bowtie crew cab at 0:05 didn't meet the same fate as this poor bus!!
As much as I hated them (the seats were great but otherwise I thought they were too noisy, rattled too much, were too dark at night, and had an interior that was, even for a city bus, boring) it`s hard seeing one destroyed after riding these for 9 years.
Se fosse aqui no Brasil poderia recuperar esse ônibus

From where are this buses?
If you couldn't tell by the livery, it's OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
That looks ecological...
Eu precisava muito d uma doação dessa...,um ônibus, para q eu possa fazer dle,uma moradia ( Casa ),haja visto q moro d favor na ksa d pessoas,e não tenho um této sobre a kbça.
That's a shame
Maybe this is why no one has one of these transit buses as a personal vehicle
Because I guess is when a company retires them they send them to the scrapyard to be demolished
A sad sight. ;(
+JEUMONT FOREVER Not really, those buses were so horrible to ride on, I would constantly avoid taking it when I lived in Ottawa
I feel that even though they were horrible, it's still a sad sight. I'm not saying you're wrong though.
+JEUMONT FOREVER Every bus has to be scrapped, I just knew that these buses had less than 5 years of running when I first rode it in 2008 and I was pretty much right
OK. Snif snif
+Transitfan93 Yupp, they were loud as shit cause of lose panelboards on the ceiling, and they were jam packed space wise cause the walk way was so narrow. The only good thing that came out of these buses was the seats. They were comfortable.
Those windows must have had a value. Wonder why they did not remove them before demolition?
What crap that old bus was. Look how easily he snapped it into two and he wasn't even a good operator.

I don’t believe this guy has much experience with this machine
Strange, if he were more aggressive with it he could've torn it apart in half the time. He kept trying to pick up stuff that was too small to pick up.
Hes a boy, with a toy, trying to do a man's job! Time is money, and he's wasting fuel, time, and efficiency just getting his rocks off on that bus. Good operators crush the roof in from front to back, and take big bites of metal from inside the buses walls to contain debris until its empty then fold the walls in and take bites until there is nothing but the chassis. Then peel the floor loose to expose the subframe. Then break in two and toss on the pile.
@@billgiordano9975 Yeah! That's the way I did it. But that grabber is not that good. We used bigger, claw ones, they are more efficient.
Houston Texas has these buses
+Dajon Jackson They dont orions just NABISNFI andNova
Detroit Diesel Series 50 we have Orion's, the VII NG HEV and VII EPA 10 HEV
*Houston has them
These buses were used until 2013. (Majority being retired in late 2012). The oldest units were 14 years when retired. Orion VI buses have a projected lifespan of 12 years so 14 is not too bad for this model.
It is interesting to see where the priorities are in which countries. Especially in today's world, when resources have to be used sparingly worldwide, destruction would be the last resort. The bus appeared in good condition before the destruction. It also applies that a bus must be replaced if it no longer meets current regional safety requirements. I think it's a shame that the buses aren't exported to countries that have extremely poor infrastructure. So this bus would have served well in other countries for a long time before it was scrapped.
Why the hell did they do that?
They were supposed to keep them run the 139 Orion VI's (originally 140, but one was retired early in 2009 because of extreme corrosion) and run them through a rebuilding program, but the city thought buying 75 double deckers to replace them was more cost effective and much more practical as you may have noticed today if you ride on OC Transpo.
OC Transpo History
Nitpick - The first ever Orion VI to be taken off the road was 4083 back in March 2011 due to corrosion. Everything else is correct.
@@loudinvero4516 OC Transpo ordered 139 of these buses in 1999, not 140 of them. The Orion VIs were supposed to be #9901, but was changed to #4001. If they were purchased in 2000, they might have been in the 0000 series which was not favored by their computer system. Also #4083 was corroded and retired for some reason being out of service of 139 Orion VI low floor buses fleet OC Transpo in March 2011 but everything else is all okay.
Imaging if the Orion bus company saw this
Orion was 'scrapped' in 2013
