I recently relocated from Nashville to Denver mainly for the close access to off-road riding. I purchased a new KTM 500 exc-f and I've spent a nice chunk making it a high performance rally bike tailored to my style and ability. This video was made 4 years ago so Paul is either back or pulling in as I speak lol. That must have been so special. TacoMoto gives me constant ideas on new ways for me to spend my money 😂. They have received their fair share as well. We really appreciate the education in all your videos. Looking forward to more on the KTM 500...... KIRK
I myself am a proud owner of the 2016 ktm 500 six days as well, bought it with 0 hours and miles in Alaska and had it shipped to AZ when I moved back last year.
This is a built! I have rarely seen anything like it built by a "non pro" without major $ sponsors! Have a fantastic trip and keep us posted. If you keep that quality of video/editing and interesting places you will travel through you will have thousands of subscribers in no time. Cheers. Safe travels.
That build belongs in a museum. Its a nice piece of work. Unfortunately, he's had numerous issues. Many related to KTM's required maintenance intervals, fuel quality, and so-called upgraded parts failures (water pump). He's a good guy and funds all of his travels himself w/o begging for money on Patreon, etc. He's also can excellent mechanic, which has helped in his travels tremendously. Honestly, the best RTW bike needs to run on 87 octane pump gas as that's what you find in 3rd world countries. Its damaging to high performance bikes.
Can you elaborate more on the failures due to (I guess) longer rtw intervals? also Paul should look into electric water pump mod (it's done on mx bikes mainly for more power). I've done it on my 650 GS Dakar and after several thousand kms still running strong (+ carrying a spare, it's like 40 bucks). Pumps on those bikes are quite shitty.
Very nice bike Few things i will not put but others i will add (a 4 liters rear petrol tank maybe) I will keep the original fuel pump and a injector with a couple of O as spare, small stuff but... "Bon voyage"!
Instead of getting a whole different control unit for the headlights why didn't you install a cut-off switch on the rally tower and turned the lights completely off from there?
Cool build. I have a 2016 KTM 500 SIxdays also and a lot of those mods and a lot those mods I don't and wish I did. Did you guys think of upgrading the clutch slave to an Oberon>? I think much more reliable.
I’m sure that people want to know what something like this costs? I obviously can’t comment on his bike but my 2016 EXC was purchased brand new for 10K cash out the store. My bike only has about 5 hrs on it to date. I have done all of my own work to the bike and like I said it is very similar with upgrades to date that are in the 13k area so far with probably another 3-4K to go. For those that don’t know, the 10, or 11, or 12K that the dealer charges is only the entry free if you really wanna get serious about upgrading and bulletproofing one of these babies for RTW travel. I’ve obviously spent more than double what the bike costs for upgrades alone.
no idea why you would spend inordinate amounts of money on this KTM junk instead of a bulletproof DR or KLR that you can find parts for in any dirt poor shithole. KTM must have some good advertising.
@@Shrouded_reaper the best KTM advertisement is the throttle response of their bikes. You may test one someday. Sure DRs and KLRs are dirt capable. Paul RTW rode DRs and now heads for RTW on a well prepared KTM.
Hi nice bike brother 👍🏻 Just wanted to know is it possible to make ktm 6days 450 on/off bike to like this for long rides? What engine mods need to be done for?
Im assuming both gps units are connected to the stock lithium battery. Any concerns with this or something I need to be aware of? Im going to do the same gps set up.
I am skeptical. Too many flimsy, tiny, special-purpose components there (just look at the voids in the sprocket....), it seems to miss solidity and simplicity. For sure it is an excellent exercise of race customization, but this is the point indeed. Is the rider performing a race? is he going to be supported as in a race? is the purpose to beat some world time record?
No words for how Bad Ass that is. Been following Paul Off and On and wish him luck and safe travels.
Mosk Moto is definitely taking over the soft luggage world, deserve all the success their experiencing... great gear, great company

What resources did you use to find a 2016?

WOW! One hell of a build! Great work
Wow I’ve never seen a chain oiler like that before. What brand of mirrors are those?
Will you publish a complete upgrades list so one can take the guesswork and internet/ UA-cam research for their re-build?
This bike is exactly why I just bought one!
This is my dream.....and I wish everyone else with this dream the best of luck in making it happen.

Did you have to change the stator or is the bike able to power all that with the stock one?

Where do you get the Cush hub for that bike? Could you elaborate ?
warp9 wheels
Is he running tubes? And why no front disk guard ? Great build great video 👍🇬🇧
That's an awesome build! Would you recommend a 250, 350, 450 or 500 for a beginner rider traveling a with less luggage? Thanks!
Super! I wish I had!!!
great job on this bike....when you change oli during long adventure ride?
Great looking bike 👍
Whats the weight of that thing all decked out?

Hey Vern - what's the weight on that thunder hog ?
No idea. Some girls are bigger than others
@@TACOMOTOCO - Awesome build - wasn't hating , just curious. Good time to get out and ride... Peace.

Serious question. Can you actually see anything out of those mirrors? I love the idea, but just imagine seeing my gloves all day.......?
@@rsmth43 All becomes clear. Thank you. Have to look for some....
Cool build. I have water pump and fan upgrades, suspension ups, fork and exaust ups. Towers are fucking dumb, too much weight and loss of visibility.
What's the gearing?
15/48
I am going to build one just like it… my 1290r just can’t take me where I want to go..
Geez...
Not sure if I believe the guys budget claims. His site says he spent an average of $3.21 per day on fuel while full time traveling the world…..
Those rally rack towers look like they weigh 100lbs.
Assuming he didn’t get very far in the start of Covid.
The part or the name Acerbis (Ace) is pronounced the same way Acetylone is.
It’s Italian, Pronounced “Ah-chair-beez”. Acerbis !

Why call it a KTM if almost everything is after market???
You’re obviously not familiar with Harley’s then
Bet he’s not in Russia now
Europe and Russia. last time i checked Russia is in Europe. just like Canada is in America.
Marc Williams 75% from Russia is in Asia.
@@zmoke10 correct! but its also in Europe
