  • A continuation of the story after we pick up the trade show in Orlando. Things turn really nasty as the South braces for a rare ice storm and our delivery is right in the middle of it.

I enjoy watching these videos. My Dad was a truck driver and I rode with him many times. I always wanted to drive trucks, but due to health issues, I can’t. But, I continue watching Indiana Jack. Keep’em coming.

The south is never prepared for snow or ice. Here in Memphis, a 5 lb bag of ice fell out of a guy's truck. It caused a 40 car pile up AND they closed school for 3 days...

Ive been watching Your videos for a few years now & they are my favorite show to watch-period!
Keep-up the awesome work.., You’re an awesome example for truckers all-over, & hopefully I will meet You at one of our truck-stops here in the U. S. Once I get my ‘49 International rolling again after I finish restoring it.
    Thanks again Jack,

I drove in the 90's and early 2000's there is a small truck stop just west of Baton Rouge. they have home cooking and the best red beans and rice with gator sausage . every time I found myself going by there I would stop and get the red beans no matter what time of day it was, it was that good.

YAY, Jack! Another superb film! I love your "long format" [20+ minutes] efforts and even appreciate your music backgrounds when we fast forward down the road! Try not to be *too* hard on us Southerners for ice storm freak outs! It just isn't an event that's in our wheelhouse regularly. ;) Meanwhile: Keep th' greasy side down and keep it 'tweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen th' ditches, Y'All!!

Another great episode. I was heading home to Shreveport from a run to Cincinnati during all that. My yard is off of I 220 around Bossier and Shreveport. It was closed for 3 days after the storm. I could see the super slab from my truck when I got back and not a patch of ice anywhere. But they kept it closed until the 2 mile long bridge over Cross Lake dried up.

Sunday got past Truckee, but road closed and had to wait 9 hrs. by the time i got to the receiver on Monday, they were closed and had to wait till Tues. morning.

Can eat fries & chicken from one place but if I order the same from this other famous chicken place a traffic jam in my guts for sure.
My dad could eat a steak & drink a glass of cold milk on top. Man if I did that ya you guessed it " traffic jam in my guts"
Icy road just this past weekend in southern BC Canada caused a semi to jackknife on a two lane mountain hwy. Collided with a pickup truck with man & wife. Pick up was towing a two horse trailer. Two died / lady is in hospital / horse put down. RCMP officer said that the road I'd slippery & to slow down.

one winter in El Paso, Tx. we got @2 inches of snow and icy roads. up by the college they have this road that goes downhill to a stop light. people would drive normal and slam on their brakes at the bottom of the hill, but the icy road prevented them from stopping and they slid right through the intersection causing a lot of accidents. in a way it was kinda funny, people sliding all over the place, but also not so funny when people got hurt too.

I wear tri-focal too, only mine came from the eye dr. Unfortunately I have a wide bridge for the nose piece even though my nose is not that big, so finding plastic frames is near impossible. My last ones I had similar to Jack's only brown I took a number 21 bridge and ground the nose section wider with my moto-tool and they are comfortable but a bit heavy. The pair I have now, are the type with adjustable pads, that are wide enough, for my nose #22 but until I got the lenses in them they cost $350.00. They are designer frames, which I could care less, my lenses are hard coated, and have anti glare. I will say, they weigh next to nothing and they are very very comfortable and fit my face really good. So I guess in the end, you get what you pay for if you are willing to pay in the first place. I knew going in, it was going to be expensive and I do not have eye glass coverage on my insurance, but they do pay for half of the eye doctor's exam if you don't have the new type pressure test done. I could say, without my new glasses I could't see all that coming LOL.... Here's a nice tip, if you drop into any eye dr. they carry "clip on" sunglasses which fit just about any pair of glasses you have. For $30.00 or less, you get the proper clip on's to fit your glasses, they come on and off easily, they look like script sun glasses and the best part the lenses are scratch resistant and UV approved, and anti glare. There one you get at the Pharmacy or in a store, you have no idea what you are getting, and usually they don't last that long, Now that I can get really good clip on sunglasses to fit my clear script glasses I will never purchase prescription sun glasses again. Also what is nice, I took my scrip to wallmart and they made me bi focals for watching tv. However I can't read with them but boy is it nice not to have to shuffle through 3 tiny lenses when I want to recline and watch tv etc. Mostly I use my tri-focal now for driving and going out to the store, out to eat etc..

I got caught in a blizzard one time where the highway patrol closed the interstate and made everyone exit and get off the road. As soon as I got parked I called in to my "driver manager" and let him know what was happening. All he kept asking me was "when are they going to open up the road again?" like I am supposed to know when it will stop snowing and when the highway patrol will deem it safe to return to the interstate. Some people do not have a clue.

Fun adventure, my guess is that Mr. Broker is not going to be the collateral damage stuck in the ditch, Meridian or wrapped around or on some tree, or they could think, ' hey go out and try it, cause I got some more business lined up'. They got their clock, the trucker has a different reality. I suppose the worst injury the broker could get is tennis elbow from picking up the phone too fast.

Is it normal for US trucks that they are not really loaded? I watched some of your videos and I noticed that you are travelling with a not really loaded trailer very often. When I have a look in the trucks leaving our yard here in Germany, they are full. A half or less loaded truck would not hit the road.

Michael Myers it's normal for trucks here to not be fully loaded.

Sometimes they are fully loaded and sometimes they aren't. I look for light loads so maybe thats why it looks that way more with me.
