    Just love the building of these models the old fashioned way. I am 73 years old and can’t wait to build and sail all four models. 👍😎🇦🇺

    I just want to express my thanks and to let you know how important these videos are. I'm in my 30's and want to build a sailboat with my son and pass on the tradition of model making. This knowledge is becoming a lost art. This video, and your others, are an invaluable resource. This is isn't just about R/C sailboats - this is about preserving knowledge for the next generation.

    Purchased Irene plans from Flying Models because this grandpa didn’t think it was so easy to do the download thing. This wonderful design has to be seen to fully understand the size and design engineering effort you accomplished. I have studied the drawings made my wood list and today I start cutting out templates. I’m building the gaff rig.

    Absolutely brilliant. This is so useful and it's great to see your craftsmanship in such quality detail. Thank you! The two masted 44.5 inch long schooner I'm currently building will really benefit from having tapered spars like yours.

    I really appreciate your methodical and measured approach to tapering the spars Gary. As many of us head into our "winter building projects", your tips and tricks are always timely and helpful. I know I will be using a small hand planner to shape my initial taper on the next spar for my "Annie". Thank you for being a wonderful and humble craftsman.

    Good to see you back on deck Gary.
    My 150% size Flyer is all finished and she's been on the river lots of times. She sure gets a lot of attention and comments from passersby.
    Can't thank you enough for such a wonderful boat.

    Hi .....I love your videos ! Have you tried simply planing masts and spars from square stock. I saw my own square stock on my table saw. This gives me a much wider choice in the wood I choose for the mast or spar. You mention imagining your dowel is square ..... so try starting from square ! Regards Nigel

    Awesome videos, do you have plans or a video showing a single sail boat? I was thinking that might be an easy way to get into making one of my own to just have the single sail. Thanks!

    • @sailtails2775
      @sailtails2775  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for asking, I do not have plans for a boat with a single sail. This is because of the much greater efficiency of 2 sails.
      Adding a small jib in front of the mainsail can really bring her to life ! Cheers !

    Yes, please show us some more, as I am a beginner builder. My father was a professional boat builder of trawlers. He made us when we were children a sail boat and he isn't with us anymore. I have always been interested in sailboats. My brothers never were any good at boat building. Dad always said that he chose the wrong child to teach has old fashioned way. Dad built with planks his boats. Please continue teaching us all your art. Many Blessings to you, Annette Queensland Australia.

      Hi Fred, That is #4 Whipping twine, it is waxed polyester, various colors, found in marine supply stores or online.
      Various brands, Marlow is what I happen to have. I suggest a drop of CA (super glue) on knots to assure they stay put.

    Hello Gary Did You Make Those Gooseneck Fittings From Scratch Wondering What You Used Please.

    • @sailtails2775
      @sailtails2775  2 роки тому +1

      I have made those gooseneck fittings 2 ways. One way is brass strip wrapped around a piece of tubing and soldered together. The other way is to simply drill and cut the piece from solid aluminum. I am sure there could be other solutions as well.
