I've inked my own artwork before and I had to try and figure out what I was thinking. Its not just tracing. I'm glad I found this vid... You're right. There's not any demos with commentary.
Just a quick note, I learned something new about inking with a Crow Quill in the first 30 seconds of your video. Never seen anyone lay the nib over 90° and pull out against the nib’s back. Gotta try that sometime.
The reason why Scott (and Kevin Nowlan) are regarded as the best inkers of all time is their ability to take sub-par art and make it stellar. Scott Williams has mostly inked Jim Lee but Williams inked a Jackson ‘Butch’ Guice book in the early 90s (maybe pre-X-men...and before he became Jim’s regular inker) and turned Guice’s art into stuff on par with what Jim Lee was doing at the time. Any inker that wants to make his mark in this era of diminished inking that’s the route to go- - take some average artists work to the next level.
Also, I really enjoy your channel. I will post here later under my real name, I would love to ‘donate’ some art to you to ink for your channel
Who about Marlo Alquiza...?!
That's a waste of time. Ink good artists to get noticed. Real simple!
Good to see some new stuff. I like the spoon technique! Working on sponging but I still get nervous with it.
Dude! Gotta say thanks! You just taught me something new with that sponge. Love your inks and your pencils too.
@@tesf1005 thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed my art. That means a lot to me. Thanks again. Hope to put more out.
It still baffles me how your nib is able to lay ink on the paper with you using it on it's side! I tried that and... nothing happened.
As someone how wants to get into inking you and your videos truly gives me inspiration. Thank u. Keep up the great work.
That was an amazing job, loved the commentary, very informative.
Beautiful inks, Jimmy! Love these types of vid when we are watching you work and you are sharing your thoughts on your process, insights into the industry, and anecdotes about other artists and their work. Thanks!
Absolutely loved this video.
I tend to watch your vids first and then use them as background while work on my illustrations. I find your voice really calming and soothing, and your inking insights are awesome.
Thank you!!!
Glad you're back, this turned out beautifully. You had previously showed the sponge technique but that splatter with a plastic spoon is a new technique that I hadn't seen before. I'd seen it done with a credit card, I like this way better.
"It's important to increase your arsenal." I'm glad you clarified that you were referring to inking tools, being from Texas...
wonderful, great !!
Nice to see you back Jimmy! More videos!
Your work is amazing
Wow man awesome work
Thank you for sharing Jimmy
Very helpful. Thank You.
Hey jimmy huge fan. Was wondering if you can do a video of how u hold the crowquill and some inking techniques like how to create line types. Question inspired by this video and curiosity of how you are holding this quill
thx jimmy!!
You’re videos have been truly helping me out a lot. Now my question is where can I find downloads of pencils like you have here. It’s always hard to find or super low quality. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!! :)
I love your videos
Thank You for doing this! I might wish that you zoomed in a bit tighter, but otherwise: Fantastic video!
That spoon technique is something I never would've thought of!!! I usually use a toothbrush or a card, but I like how when you flick it off of the spoon it seems to splash in more of a straight line. Quick question, where do you get copies of an artists pencil work like that??? I practice art, but sometimes I just want to practice inking and being able to have those would be great!!!
@@JimmyReyesArt Thank you very much!!!
What’s the point of dividing the penciling/inking on two persons? Is it just a time efficiency thing?
Why is the pencil blue?
Which ink & nibs & paper do you use brother?
@@JimmyReyesArt love you my dear sir Thanks alot!!!
No homo tho lol!!!
really bad camera placement.
