*SHE SANG THE FUCK OUT OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! very impressed. was not expecting her to belt as high as she did in the ending remix part. she was giving her ALL to those fans! they were so lucky. watching her creative mind at play when she changes things vocally is like watching a genius. she is so fucking unique its insane. this is a talent that cant be taught. this is someone born with a gift & someone who STUDIES their voice & music as whole. phenomenal & raw. I appreciate this so much*
I knew the other undedited videos of this performance did not sound so good because of the quality of the audio rather than Mariah's singing, and THIS just proved me right!!!
But if you check for the whistle at the begining you can hear the last part like her throught got closed and ended up the sound suddenly, but if you go to the commercial video there a good ending, so this was re recorded.
Vocal analysis of this performance: I can honestly see why some parts were dubbed but for the most part alot of this wasn't. 1. Her raspiness here is breathtaking. I love how her rasp isn't harsh. It's timbre actually melds with her voice. Her voice stays warm and the rasp lends itself to her vocal characteristics seamlessly. Beautiful😍 2. Her tone additionally is incredibly beautiful here😍😍😍and her placement of notes here wasn't nasal like alot of the performances that followed from Rainbow Era. This is actually one of the last live performances from Mimi from 1999 where she uses a forward placement without major resorting to nasal resonance I only have issues with breath support in the main My All and some phrasing choices and pitch(she was flat on a couple of notes here) which she corrected in the dubbed version of the song. She seemed to end alot of her phrases sooner than expected because her breath was high up in her body rather than fully engaging the diaphragm in controlling the flow of air through her chords further exacerbating phrasing issues notably at the end of verses and proper vocal cord adduction These vocal cord adduction issues caused by fluctuation in breath support in the middle voice is why you can see her pulling away from the mic at certain parts notably between A4 and D5: whenever she felt like her adduction wasn't effective and she felt like "she would go into an uncontrollable rasp" Vocal cord adduction is a critical component to correct placement of a register as the vocal cords approximate correctly and vibrate within complementary oscillation. And to ensure proper adduction, the airflow needs to be consistent in the cords hence proper diaphragm engagement to regulate this. Also I think she was more vocally consistent in the remix than in the ballad itself. Here you can see her confident as she is aware it's fast paced so she subconsciously breathes deeper to engage. The result, her cords adduct in an appropriate manner; less rasp in the remix and more confidence in performance
I think her rasp was nodules. And that was causing both a lot of flat notes and also the loss of breath. You should be able to sing three words in a phrase without having to break it up for a breath.

THIS IS THE REAL SOUND OF A LIVE PERFORMANCE, IS OK, BUT THE FIRST CHORUS IS LIPSYNCHED, LIKE MANY TIMES, SHE USES THAT, IT SEEMS THAT MAY BE HARD FOR HER TO GO FOR THOSE SOFT HIGH NOTES SO SHE USES A LIPSYNCHED PART.
@@MIXANDMTCH yes! Exactly, and you can tell that she was having problems on following the high falsettos for the first chorus, that's why she decided to use a lipsynched chorus at the performance. ua-cam.com/video/3R3x0eII31I/v-deo.html
im avoiding using undubbed in titles since. well... if you look up 'undubbed performance' its literally like 99% mariah videos
And most of them ROCK
My God! It's always the tone that saves her. Her voice is naturally beautiful, runs and stuff like that are just bonus.
