HEB is the best grocery store, it beats Krogers, Albertsons, Aldi's, and whatever else the northern States have. Their in-house store brands are either on par or better than national name brand foods and products.
Strangely enough, and perhaps that is what he was eating, I'm not a fan of their beef and pork sausage. There are just way better sausages that they do carry like Slovacek's.
I've tried all three ..... I think you even went to a "good" Dickie's .... None of the ones I've tried even looked that good . Every 4 or 5 years I'll try one and I'm good for another 4 or 5 years . Buckee's is a safe bet when on the road but not a destination bbq. It is way better than any drive thru burger you can ever get .... I do have a soft spot for Rudy's. I visited the original several times in the 90s and love their attempt to bring the original vibe to their locations. The outdoor seating, the communal seating, served on paper and sold by the pound really keeps the old school central Texas experience alive. .... I can pick a Rudy's for a quick Saturday afternoon lunch with the kids over a burger or pizza anytime. Not every BBQ experience needs to be a pit master epicurean experience. It deserves a spot as everyday food . And places like Rudy's or HEB are a special places that understand that. Unfortunately there are others in Texas like Dicky's and even Miller's (not sure if they're still around. Haven been to SA in so long) that don't quite keep up the quality as they could. But even then there are days a plate of their brisket is still better than a frozen hamburger patty sloped together with the bacon, cheese, craze sauce of the month between two buns. or frozen breaded chicken, that half breading once again paired with the cool sauce of the month that's required to choke it down .... Ok evidently i have a strong pinion than I thought I did when I started this .lol .... It is lunch time and it might be time for me to hit a Rudy's BTW Rudy's breakfast tacos in the morning are a awesome way to start the day .. they're not traditional but they are Texas
I wish this came out a few days earlier, I could have used it on my trip from Houston to San Antonio. Definitely would have stopped at two of the places for some BBQ food.
Dickey's used to be decent about 20 years ago. I could get a rib plate with 2 sides for $6 using a coupon. I only got the ribs or pulled pork sandwich, so I don't know how the brisket was. It always looked dry.
They stay in business because of their franchises located across the county not in the South. I’m confident Dickey’s is still better than your average BBQ joint in New York.
@@claytronics I used to eat at that one when I worked in Plano from 2005-2012. It really was purdy dang good. I haven't been there in a while. I do eat at the one here in grand prairie and it's hit or miss.
Bucee and HEB are the best chains followed by bill miller, pokejoes, then Rudy, then dickies. If you eat any of the last 2 regularly you don’t actually like BBQ
I've ALWAYS said it and I'll say it again, Dickeys AND Rudy's bbq is bad. Overpriced for what you pay even if it is cheaper than a sit down. I had Terry Black's and it's way more expensive, but ohmagawd, the brisket was so good we had to get a pound to-go. Best brisket I've ever had. BBQ is a treat for yourself, do not torture yourself by buying mid ass bbq, get the real deal and get what you pay for. It's like having a gourmet burger and comparing it to McDonald's lol. Edit: I see alot of people saying Bill Miller's. Nahh guys, it's a casual sit down, the bbq isn't it. Now, the BREAKFAST, is some legit sht. Some of the best you can get & it opens at 5AM. Can't go wrong.
This ol boy is from the "northeast", so consider that with his opinion. Dickey's is okay barbecue, its not usually dry, but it's still overpriced but it's convenient. There is no comparison to a damn white castle. Buccees does a decent job, price is right, and very very convenient. HEB is good, most don't have the bbq restaurant, price is too high. Spring Creek is the place to get very good bbq at a good deal, sides are awesome and unlimited. Rudy's has the best smoked Turkey, the rest is ok, prices are ok.
Made the mistake of ordering turkey at the local Dickies. I'd swear it was smoked Oscar Meyer lunch meat. It was square, and had that chopped formed meat texture. Easily one of the most revolting things I've ever had in my mouth. Never again.
Rudys is mediocre at best, but the last time I was there I literally had the worst brisket in my life. It was nasty and I took leftovers home and fed it to my pitties and felt guilty for that! The one SW of Houston off 59 & Grand Parkway. Asians pack in that place to eat on the regular... they don’t know good bbq! Witt Pitt is 5 minutes further out the freeway and is top notch Q!
I once complained that the eggs in their breakfast tacos had a weird texture. The manager didn't believe me, but gave me a gift card that I never used after being blown off. Years later I went back and got breakfast tacos because it happened to be on my way. I got food poisoning from them so I haven't been back.
I don’t understand calling these “fast food”. Do you mean chain barbecue ? Seems all barbecue is fast when you go to get it. Whether in a one off joint or a chain. Certainly none are fast in the preparation.

@@dsbeats5657 everyone always says the chicken is good… problem is it’s a BBQ spot it’s in the name… and there bbq is trash and over priced for what you get
The fact Bill Miller wasn't mentioned here makes this video invalid. That's the real and true fast food BBQ in Texas.
I think the fried chicken took over
No Bill Miller is incomplete tests invalid results
Bill Millers BBQ sucks. The fried chicken and breakfast tacos are the only thing worth getting there
They make their bbq in a warehouse downtown SA and it SUCKS. but it is fast food. this video should have had it.

@@Mok3sp33d How do their franchises in the South stay open? There's one near where I live and I've never seen more than 5 cars in the parking lot.
@@safeandeffectivelol My guess would be from large party or corporate catering orders. That is how most mediocre food franchises stay afloat.

The BBQ Turkey sandwich is very unrated in my opinion at Buc-ee's. It one of my favorites!
My H.E.B used to have bbq under there flaming bird brand and it was so good cause they could do nachos or loaded fries with any of the meats.
Missed Pappas bbq in Houston.
Pappas is not good...
@@staffordduecker665 explain ?
No such thing as fast food BBQ. Only BBQ chains. BBQ no matter were you buy cannot be cooked fast and hot such as Whataburger
Fast food bbq is great for people that want bbq on their lunch breaks, but don't have time to wait.
So no Spring Creek review?
Buccees sandwiches are on point!

bro, I love their brisket queso that shit, my favorite 😂

Yup but where I'm at I don't know if we have the bbq..I see the the flaming bird alot
This guy went to Rudys and didnt even get their bbq sauce SMH. Thats what makes Rudys.
Dickeys is absolutely terrible. I am shocked they still are in business in Texas
What they gonna do it's expensive man??!!
Dickey's is trash. I would never eat there. It's always empty so the food will not be fresh. Don't know how they are still in business...

The only people I see eating BBQ with their hands are non-Texans. What’s wrong with using a fork?
