“Going back to the place in which I was wronged as a child, and telling her ‘I’m sorry that happened to you.’” Thank you for this. I can’t explain what this did for me as soon as I heard it.
3 Minutes in I can relate tremendously. The birth of my first daughter at 21 was so pivotal, never did I experience a love for another being the way I did when I first saw her. Forget "puppy love" boyfriends or "best friends", my daughter was the beginning of my healing journey and she has not a clue. I saw her look at me like I had never seen anyone look at me. She looked at me like I was the best thing God put on earth . At 21 I had such a low self esteem (of course I didnt realize it then), how could this baby think that of me. It opened up my eyes to see that I had in fact been in an emotionally abusive relationship with her biological father. She saved my life. Now, here, 8 years later I realize God put her in my life to remind me of all the suffering or traumatic moments I had experienced as a child in order to pave a new life for her and ensure she got what she deserved, the space to blossom and grow into WHATEVER makes her life fulfilling. Thank you for sharing this!
Dammm. I can relate sooo much. I am feeling and reliving every single word of hers. The - " I was getting triggered when I saw my husband being the best one. Because "I" Wanted that". Sooo true. I get trigger when I see my brother being the best Dad to her daughter. Coz I wanted that. Nd I didn't got that. That triggers me like anything while I love my neice with all my heart 🙏🙏
you are just talking about my life and i am so grateful for my husband and honestly thank you for sharing our story and i am so grateful thankful that i choose not to pass it to my children’s 💜💜💜
I think because the TV networks can't profit if the viewers know their self worth. I am so thankful for youtube and it's content. It can be so educational when you are trying to improve yourself.
took me awhile to get to this video, but the moral of the story is generational pain runs so deep its internalized in order to survive. we fear whippings so much that we become tramatized from the degree of punishment over reward. ask the reason why? help strengthen within
Healing in this message. Taking notes & putting it into action. Sonya.. I am proud of you for being such a dope mom. I went thru allll of the trauma at such a young age just to protect my lil princess from inheriting that trauma.
To just know you’re not alone in this world and you can fix so many things within . So comforting 💖. Everyday I wake up and aspire to be a better person and to run into these types of videos it’s just so powerful . I wish my parents knew all of this .
I liked your talk. on many levels. Especially meeting kids where they learn. resonates with me. Thanks for your "witness" statements., and caring for community and children's development.
Beautiful work Brandy. Since I began following you on Instagram, I have been inspired by your words and experiences you have been transparent enough to share. I hope you continue to reach many more people who are encouraged to take action. 👏👏👏

Hit like bricks
That just struck my heart. So deep.
“You cannot pour from an empty cup.” Love this.
“I refuse to leave a story written of pain”
she was nervous but kept going
such a brave person she went through so much
It grows one up right! Children are wonderful teachers if people will listen? a beautiful masterpiece!
I love the poetic language of masking ourselves from trauma. Very touching.
It's time to break the cycle of generational trauma. You deserve something a lot better.
