Not really important to non-Welch users, but if you want Welch and want to optimise her build, make sure you have at least THREE male members in your group (Claude + two more) as her Gutsy Handy Stick (her strongest weapon in the game) grants an additional 3000 ATK if the main team has three male members with her. She goes absolutely HARD with this build. My personal team was Welch/Claude/Ashton/Noel, and I was basically Slappity Slapping my way through every raid and MoT enemy lmao
@@rail7646 I think the advice still works, since you can try equipping different accessories for a different battle approach and still have a high ATK stat for Welch! You are correct though, that +200% ATK accessory (Earring of Frenzy) is perfect for Welch as her Gutsy Handy Stick negates the -50% HIT from the accessory as long as there is at least one guy in the team. 👍🏼

can you even get welch when you don't get celine but get opera and bowman? Since bowman comes after the event disappears and ashton and precis is locked out which you could get in the time frame of the event you would only have 3 members at that time

I couldn't try all of them yet and never played the original so I'm NOT an expert. I can say that Opera is the best for endgame content for sure, there's a setup where you are literally unkillable with her, it totally breaks the challenge but it's always good to have her if you ever want to do it. From what I've heard, Welch / Noel / Celine are very weak and Opera / Chisato / Ashton are strong. Bowman seems strong too, the rest are like mid-low tier. That's the GENERAL opinion, I honestly didn't try all of them yet.

Having played the game way back on PS1, and also has (and has played) the PSP version of this as well, I always hear to skip on Noel. What he does, Rena/Celine/Leon do much better. Plus, he joins so late that you likely have 7 people, which means getting him could lock you out of having the 8th spot go to Chisato, and Chisato's one of the best characters in the game.

Well,l you can reject Ernest, BUT doing so will also make Opera leave the team. If you don't want that, then yes, you'll have to recruit Ernest since you already watched the cutscene. You'll have to choose between Precis, Bowman or Noel (or Welch if you still can recruit her).
You can recruit Welch after* sleeping not before.... you should fix that typo as it cost me a couple hours because I actually reloaded only to find out you get her afterwards 😑
Just checked the video and the overlay is good. You CAN'T recruit her AFTER sleeping in Bowman's house, so you have to do it BEFORE sleeping in Bowman's house, which happens right after talking to the Linguist during Linga's main story

If its any consolation I am playing Claude. You need to fact check more thoroughly. Because this would also mean you would not be able to recruit Welch if you chose not to recruit Celine or Ashton or Precis, which is NOT the case. My run I did not choose Celine or Ashton or Precis. That leaves me with Bowman, Opera, Rena, Claude.. the only 4 you can get in order to get Welch.. and you cannot get Bowman until after you sleep in his house. You should revise your info cause a lot of new players will get wrong information and end up wasting their time like I did with your info.

It is a lot safer to do it before Bowman's quest anyways, but yeah if you can do it right after, that would be the very last chance.

The problem is this guide doesn't tell you that you cant recruit everyone, and doesn't say which outsiders you can recruit out of how many total eg/ if you get ashton you cannot get opera. but did you say that when recruiting Ashton?

Yeah when I saw her Ultimate Weapon I was like damn that 5500 Atk with 100% HIT. Didn't recruit her so I couldn't try though hahah
Welch STILL sucks I'll only have Opera Bowman Dias Chisato and Ernest join Claude/Rena EVERYONE else still SUCKS.

2 are actually enough you cap at 9999 atk anyway before the third one since she can equip that 200% atk pendant, so be careful with this advice.

Welch was introduced in the PsP versión, its basically a new character, nothing changed story-wise as far as I know
