I bought a pair of the March 701 cars a couple of years ago but haven't touched them yet. This video is a great guide, so now I won't feel so apprehensive about opening them up lol. They are the only F1 cars I have in my collection, so I am not used to working such delicate chassis. Thanks for posting!

Yeah they are a car that requires patience but once you get them tuned they are a lot of fun.

I have a March 701...don't expect to be able to wrench on these in a hurry on race night just before your race heat 🥵
The stock rear tyres are actually great on wood. To make life a little easier I fit a pair of Policar alloys on the rear but changed the tyres to NSR Ultras (not Evo), you'll need to drill a small hole through the tyre for the allen key.
Glued & trued tyres front & rear, round the corners on the rear tyres and a bit of ballast either side of the pod pivot.
These won't compete with NSR or Scaleauto F1's but they're superb for a class of a specific era i.e. 1966-71 inclusive.

I love these cars. We race them in our club. I have to admit that placing the body back onto the chassis is something I really dislike to do. Especially the Lotus.

Great tutorial video on setting up the Lotus. Regarding the front motor screws. There are 2 screws in line in the center. Are both screws necessary or can just 1 be used in either the front or the hole closest to the pod? When I viewed the set up video for the Ferrari 126C, the hole farthest from the pod was used and the one closest to the pod was left empty. But, when I look at Andy Rowlands instruction for his 3D printed conversion kits, he uses the hole closest to the pod and instructs the farthest one from the pod be cut off. Your thoughts....

It is what works best for you. I would experiment and see which one is better to remove or keep. You tune the car for your track.

What kind of switch did you use to trigger the flashing lights in the grand stand?
