Wish I could have that song playing when I fly!..maybe I’ll try my headphones and play that song...I love it..awesome video... I finally soloed...no feeling like it..
Your video brought back some great memories. Flew ultralights for 22 years but decided, at 69, to move on. The midwest is the best for uktralights, Wisconson and Michigan being my favorites. Thanks for capturing that summer's day for the rest of us!
And the absolute worst is God 'ol Texas..It sux for UL's, unless you a greedy rancher and own 100 or more acres.....Then even, its no where to build a landing strip coz of all the rocks and hills...
YEAH, LIKE A BIRD. Awesome vid. Be and stay safe. I'm sure you do, but always do thorough pre-flight. One time I was finishing up pre-flight, and just thought to double check rudder cables, near pedals, and there it was...all but 3 or 4 strands of the cable were completely broken. It was where the cable makes contact with the guides/rollers. If i hadn't have moved my pedal by hand to double check there, it could've been very bad. I had done a thorough P-F inspection a few days earlier, before my last flight. God was with me. Keep an eye on those points of contact, and of course every little thing., and always have a place to land in mind. I'm sure you do. Thanks, and happy flying.
hi I miss my Quicksilver I built it out of a kit and flu it single surface stock with spoilers for a couple of years then converted it to a true 3 axis double surface with full span ailerons. Also had a set of floats & flu it at the Colorado river Lake Elsinore and a couple of times out of Los Angeles Harbor Cabrillo Beach. Great fun! Thanks for the memories
Wow that was a great flight. Landing on that grass runway looks so fun!!! I had this same plane and loved flying it. I had the rotax 503 in mine. I fly trikes now but still love the rudder!
Thank you for making your videos, Gib! They are, all of them, thoroughly enjoyable. The simple editing and pleasant music all contribute to the zen vibe. I got lessons and soloed just before Halloween 2018, and the weather here in southern Indiana became prohibitive immediately. As I impatiently wait for spring (and those fluke winter days I'm told actually occur), I watch your videos almost daily as a surrogate. Much appreciated! P.S. My absolute favorite is the morning mist video. That's some next level stuff, there!
Outdoor Thor thanks! I really appreciate the positive feedback. Congratulations on your first solo. Yes... I’m impatiently waiting for spring up north here. Especially because fall came so early. I missed about a month of our flying season.
Thank you for posting a very beautiful flight that you have performed for all of us. What kind of rules and regulations are required for ultralight flight?
Thanks@@jltaviation , glad you enjoyed the video. Here is a link to the www.eaa.org/eaa/aviation-interests/ultralights/getting-started-in-ultralight-flying/about-faa-part-103-for-ultralights
last time i checked i needed 30 hours of flying time in a "real" aircraft to even look at one of these in my country.. otherwise it would only be my crippling fear of hights that stopped me from doing this.
don shields that’s probably pushing it for this model, 220-230 is probably the upper limit. A 2 place version of the Quicksilver would be your best bet, but that puts you in the light sport category and out of the FAR part 103 exemption. Glad you like the videos!
@@stewartc68 thanks Gib! Do you know of ANY ultralight that would haul my behind...This is really telling me to lose 40 lbs!! You are really great to respond back to my question.
don shields you could look into an Aerolite 103. I think they have a useful load of 325, but that would include fuel (5gal tank). The biggest problem is to be 103 compliant, the plane has to be no more than 254lbs. By the time you put an engine on that will carry you, it might be under powered to keep to the 254 empty weight. Look up aero lite and call them. Or call Air-tech ultralights, they may have a suggestion regarding a Quicksilver
Congratulations on almost soloing, it’s great fun! I live in Minnesota, but fly out of Wisconsin just over the boarder. Great little airport that’s ultralight friendly.
@@ToyManFlyer1100 Nice. Ultralight aerial refueling. A plastic cooking funnel hose-clamped onto a rubber hose trailing behind the fueler. Turkey baster attached to the nose of the fuelee with a hose running back to the tank. What could go wrong?

Hell yeah, pre flights are ALWAYS important and must never be hurried or skipped. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice ! I watched some of it twice. The journey looks cinematic at times with the fog, clouds, and beautiful countryside.
Very pleasant video and music actually made it better.
Unusually good combination.
L Mar thanks!
Absolutely beautiful! Makes me miss my old Phantom ultralight. Thx for posting this!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!

@Jr ALEXANDER thank you so much. I will look up far part 103. I think those ultralights for cross-country flying needs a GPS and a handheld radio.

Thanks Alex Woods !

Just groovy, watched with no sound... Bossa Nova 👍
wonderful
Is there tornadoes where you live ? It seems calm and not very stormy 😊
Glider FS there are, but they are pretty rare this far north. We still get plenty of big thunder storms during the summer though.
@@stewartc68 Ah ok ! 😊 However, be careful, we all know how these things can be unpredictable... 😅

How much price this plane
This plane used in the US would cost 6 to 7 thousand.

Thanx
I am legally blind, meaning that I only see out of my left eye, do you think it is possible for me to fly it, or do you need a pilots license?
You don't need an aviators license. And ' Wiley post ' great pilot , only had sight in one eye, even wore a patch , true story.
Gonna be flying in 2019 at all?
Tyler H I did... but didn’t shoot much video. Next year for sure!
Thanks , Gib...!!!!!....😊😊😊
Very nice.
do you think that thing could take you to a nearby country? I would like to ride with you in it!
only has 5 gals/ 22.7304 ltrs of gas...So..Not likely unless someone refills you on the way.....

Never trust a pilot in loafers.....

That much altitude on that thing not a good idea at all..you should keep a manageable altitude.
