- In this new series, Adam Savage visits makers to learn about their work spaces and how they build. We first stop by the new shop of spacesuit replica builder Ryan Nagata. Ryan moved into this space after working out of a garage, and chats with Adam about how he organizes and utilizes his tools for costume and prop fabrication.

Thanks for watching!
I love these kinds of walkthru's. Everybody has stuff that nobody else has seen or ways of doing things that you would not have thought of.
Great shop tour. This guy seem so humble, but his shop shows just how versatile he is! He works in fabric, metal, wood, plastic, paint and mold/casting! Even advanced makers are lucky to have just one or two of those abilities. Would love for Adam to go back in a year and see how he's grown!
two very passionate people are talking about their passion. this doesnt get any better really.
What a fantastic concept for a series! I can't wait to see more episodes of this, and to be exposed to more talented makers out there. Thanks for never failing to inspire me!
+skyzefawlun 21-23 minute episodes would make it a commercially viable length for a network tv show slotted for a half an hour. It would be a boon for many small makers who could use the exposure... Bo.
Adam, you should get his design and part list and do a one day build of that fume hood. Also, I love this, having Adam do tours of people's shops I think is a really cool idea. I would love to see this be a more regular thing.
I really like how good of listener Adam is, it makes the interviews so much more enjoyable.
That HAL9000 panel!! That's on my todo list!
I see you everywhere now! lol
Did you todo it yet ?
Yes Adam, spray booth One Day Build!
+MendezAS This needs to happen because I need to build one and I want to steal his ideas
Yes, he needs it, i often see him spraying indoors and cringe at what those fumes are doing to his lungs
wolfe1970 I know right! I like to spray paint quite a bit, and absolutely can't stand the fumes (not to mention the health implications). So I spray outside, with a proper respirator!
I've been meaning the build a spray booth, but never got round to it, so this would be great for everyone - especially Adam himeslf :)
+MendezAS very true but Adam has a very good ventilation system in his work space. Its hardly like spraying it in your lounge xD
+MendezAS And he needs to put it on wheels! Haha
Adam almost geeked out on the spacesuit, but held it together nicely. to spend a day in that man's mind would be an amazing adventure ☺
+Dusty Korpse The funny thing is He said let me get out of your hair but what he meant was, We are done filming I'm going to go over this suit from top to bottom asking a million questions before I go...
This is such a great tour and conversation! Looking forward to many more tours! Awesome job guys!
+Make Something Indeed. What he said. I really hope they do a follow-up tour of this shop in the future as well.
That is a beautiful space. Just looking at it would inspire me to start working.
Fantastic episode. Nothing more to say. Best of luck to Ryan and I'd love to see Tested revisit his space.
Adams enthusiasm is truly inspiring. When I enter my workshop I always have to think about how he would organize it and such...
I think Adam is doing a lot for inspiring people to be makers. Completely infectious enthusiasm and motivation. Good dude!
really nice shop, thanks, need more video like this please :)
I'm a violin maker/ repair luthier and love Tested. This episode was great cause I too have just moved into a bigger space and this gave me great ideas on how to organize my crap!
Thanks!
MC
1:59 I just love seeing Adam get excited.
I've started adding up how many projects Tested has inspired me to do. I've got a Printrbot Simple (and I'm printing a Hellboy pistol ), I make 3D models for Thingiverse, I've got multiple LED cubes and I love building models. Thanks to everyone there.
That's one nice man if I have seen any before... So lucky Adam got to meet him and vice versa!
Realy good idea for a new series. It's always cool to see someone else's workspace and how they organise it. I use to make leather armour out of a 7' x 7' room and always wished i could have somewhere bigger
Adam should do marketing for a company selling screw on wheels. *Wheels on everything!*
This is great. You should tour Dan Winters' shop in Texas. He's one of the best portrait photographers alive, but he also make a ton of sets and props. Not to mention he's a fantastic artist and designer. And, incidentally, was a prop builder for movies when he was in high school.
When I retire, 8 yrs, I want to go work for someone like Adam or this guy for free. What a great thing to help geniuses like these guys create!
so jealous of that shop. And the phaser rifle on the wall!
Adam's excitement makes my day. I can't wait to have my own workshop one day.
I love tested, and Adam Savage is my favorite person on the planet. It's nice to see some cultured, intelligent, and entertaining content on UA-cam.
This is going to be a cool series
Adam sees Fragile sticker.... drums on box... "this looks important!"
That logo is fantastic! Seems like a great and passionate fellow!
Betting he geeked out afterwards with Ryan over those spacesuits
This guys is so awesome, his work is so professional and that studio is so inspiring. Makes me wanna do the same thing!
omg, he's got the TOS space suit on the ceiling!
+William Jakespeare Thought you would be exited that he has a x-carve machine aswell.
+William Jakespeare I thought that was what that was, thank you for the confirmation :-)
Such an inspiring work space!!!
that's a beautiful shop, very jealous.
Do more of these Videos this is a fantastic idea for a new series .
I definitely want to see more of these shop tour videos. Great job!
hes so shy and adam is being so nice :D
I love this idea for a video series!! I can't wait for more.
loved this! would love to see more workshops !
more videos like that! every time I watch you in your shop, I'm always trying to improve my space.
Yessss! I love shop walkthroughs. They always inspire me to make mine work better.
I loved the transition out~
Great feature visiting other workshops and seeing the variety, how things are uniquely organised, in each individuals shop. Love it! Great idea, double thumbs up, looking forward to the next shop :)
Awesome segment guys, love the idea and look forward to seeing other makers in their "habitat".
What a fun look at this shop. Options and ideas to think about. Great video.
Awesome shop and cool guy - hope he is always busy and productive!
Love the new feature! I love visiting other peoples shops!
This is my new favorite segment on tested next to one day builds
Thanks so much for sharing the shop tour! *heads down to basement and starts rearranging everything*
This is an awesome new segment. So inspiring! I´m going to go sort my shop now.
PLEASE DO SPEND AN ENTIRE EPISODE JUST ON SPACE SUITS
+Samuel Hopely YOU GOT IT
+Tested THANK YOU
Pretty Effin awesome on this series Adam!!! Looking forward to this and seeing other peoples workshops!
OMG I LOVE that space! Compared to his parent's garage you can certainly see how much he's struggling with finally having room. I can't wait to see it in a year when he's fully stretched out into the space & better utilized all of that space.
Love the Barbasol can there. Jurassic fandom
More like this!!
This is going to be a great video series when Adam visits other peoples shops!
I love the Star Trek stuff like The Tholian Web and The Naked Time space suit as well as the Where No Man Has Gone Before type 3 phaser rifle. Love it!!!..Nice workshop space.
This is honestly fantastic
1 year later, Adam gets back and EVERYTHING's on wheels.
+WhiseWizzy Therer will be wheels with smaller wheels under them. The shop owner will have gone bonkers with wheels and cogs, making complex machinery with his logo spray painted all over it. Adam will be ensnared and forced to do wheel related tasks.
+WhiseWizzy Including Ryan... and when Adam enters the room he'll be forced to put on rollerblades too.
Definitely love this video series idea. Let's see more!
A beautiful place. Keep up the good work
Congratz man on getting your own dedicated workshop!
Look at all the props on the shelves and walls, just love it. And then the deer head? Makes me wonder what I missed? Lol :) Such a nice work shop!
I enjoyed this. You should make more shop tours.
Returning to this video because I own the Jurassic Park map brochure by Mr Nagata. It is fantastic so thanks Ryan for that
really cool Adam! Thanks Love the Space suits too!
That guy's voice is so soft and calming.
Great series concept! Can't wait for more!
Love seeing other workshops and walkthroughs, so I'm all for the idea. Seems like Ryan's still setting up shop though, so it'd be better to visit shops that are a bit more mature.
Love the shop - plus the celestron box!
I love these visits to other shops.
I'm gonna love this series!
Really cool series, excited for more!
Great idea for new feature. Could you list the details of the equipment like the lathe etc as it's something I am interested in buying and seeing the these things in 'real' life is useful.
Really enjoy this series concept!
Thanks for the idea on the hanging pattern storage. I currently have the all pieces for a whole costume in one intimidating pile.
+squkyshoes You're welcome! I I got the idea to hang patterns on the wall after I saw a shop that made Chinese Dragon Costumes and all the paper patterns were organized on the wall.
Nice!!! Really enjoyed this vid. Great idea for a new series of vids - can't wait for the next one.
Adam REALLY looked like he wanted to open boxes and put stuff together. LOL
Great job look forward to the series!!
brilliant review - mad shop envy
His Magic Touched me!!!!
Shop Tours! Yes! And c'mon, don't make us wait a year. Surely Adam will build a space suit in that time, visit this guy again!
This is awesome. Nice to see how others work. If you guys are ever in Greece, look me up, I would love to host you guys in my shop.
Adam, I love yr jacket !
This guy is clearly a massive Tested fan, cool to see :) great space
"Getting to build your brain as a possibility engine", Love it!
great concept for a video! keep them coming!
Man that's a nice buck he's got hangin on the wall in his shop there!
Agreed, first thing that catches your eye. I love when someone appreciates something that meant the world to someone else. I'm assuming it was purchased.
agreed, we have some deer heads that were bought at yard sales that were from the 1930's that need to get new hides put on em.
Amazing Idea Guys!
That place IS gorgeous! No dust on anything....yet... ;)
Wow, so jealous of that space!
Nice shop... wish I had that kind of space in mine :)
You need to make another video with all his figures and weapons etc etc etc.
Love this guy, he seems great!!
Adam you do realize we were all focused on that blaster gun collection. That needs to be a Tested episode!
please do more of these there awsome
Adam, you need to hire him for making a few parts for your Mars suit. Let's see the man in action!
I added a parts rack with bins, it's great its about 42" x 72" x 12" Ryan you'll be happy with this decision, I echo Adam wheels on everything.
Can you post the info for the custom cutting mat? I'm an upholsterer and would love one in my shop.
+luis vital It says "Rhino" on the mat. They can be found on eBay and Amazon (4'x8' and 4'x6') in the $120 range. The quality is not as good as the Alvin self-healing mats at art stores, but for the price they can't be beat.
Great new series Tested!
Hey! AWESOME SEGMENT, I was just wondering the size of the workshop to get a good idea if you guys don't mind :) Thank you
