Congratulations, in spite of the North American accent. I have tried to see how I would do when reading out aloud without making a mistake over a longer period of time and it is bloody hard... Without taking into consideration different accents, so I do take my non existent hat off!! Thanks from Costa Rica for this wonderful tale!!! 😀
Actor Rupert Farley recorded all the Sharpe audio books in the UK, he is brilliant, His Richard Sharpe sounds like Sean Bean! He is English so has a better command of all the accents.
@@robanks3895 the references to Sharpe in Yorkshire I believe were inserted after Sean Bean got the role not before. In the earlier published books it was only ever London
@DukeOfTennessee117 nah its been I while since listen to this but what really gets my goat bad emphases on words and shifting tones when trying to give different voices to different characters. But like I said it's been a while since I listen to it
With respect, I'll admit nothing of the sort ! To your ear they may sound correct, not to mine. We can agree the story is well read. My 'qualifications', I am English living in France. My own accent is classic English as in the Queen and best BBC. I'm very familiar with regional accents in both countries. We can't agree the reader is anywhere near true English be it Yorkshire or London, Irish or French accents. The reader's accents are not anywhere near correct for the characters. It may interest you to know I have found particularly in France, many people have difficulty understanding English spoken with a North American accent, even an East coast accent which is quite near an English English accent. As for Canadian French, the accent is widely regarded in France as to put it mildly, terrible, worse than Americans trying to speak French ! Not that any of this matter much here as it's still a good yarn read at a fair pace.
Lmao 😂😂😂 yes a yankee accent but it would follow sharpe normally as a company of the Royal American regiment attached to his command fact check true in later year’s due to recruiting parties not allowed in to the USA 🇺🇸 (a revolution changed policy) the 60th regiment of foot changed it’s name to the Kings Royal Rifle Corps later still to the Royal Green Jackets and now with utter disgust forgetting all the inspirational men of those tight knit families with enough Victoria cross’s to make a whole battery of Chinese guns used by Russia not forgetting the title light infantry was originally a reward to regiment’s who went above and beyond the call of duty ie everyone would have got a V.C. (But at the time that had not been invested into the military) so now they are called the rifle’s in honour of Richard sharpe fun fact is regiment is not even acknowledged in the regiment as the 1st Bn RGJ (the ox and bucks Li) and the 2nd Bn RGJ (the King’s Royal Rifle Corps) where the two Bn’s who formed into the rifle’s the 3rd Bn RGJ (the 95th Rifle brigade) was sacked by the government because Russia is a pushover and no longer a problem fact check true

A lovely story. I always liked that hard luck frog.
Contrary to many comments, I like this narrator. Well done!
You and him can enjoy a nice heaping helping of voltigers. Whatever that is
Glad it is on here. Thank you!

"Woop-woop! That's the sound of da police! That's the sound of the beast!.."
Thanks from a fellow fan. Don't sweat the haters. Do more!!
I wouldn't call the commenters haters.
I love Sharpe’s Australian accent.
that is best reading of sharpe christmas keep on doing them
Really needed a narrator with an English accent rather than US. No Irish accent, but French is fine. Is the reader Canadian?
Dont know that audio, listen to the English audio narrative by Rupert Farley, he does all the English officers very well
Plus a great Sean Bean
I had no idea Sharpe was one of Dick van dyke's chimmney sweeps
Shed a tear.
thanks again for upload
Fair play to the lad but I just don’t think he’s voice is right but that doesn’t mean you should stop doing audiobooks

But sharpe is from london not Yorkshire.
@@tommy3141 His character grew up in Yorkshire, hence why Sean Bean was great for the tv series

?????
Nice👍👍🤩
Not a good Ulster accent but how many of us cld do authentic American accent.
Uhhh.....
Nobody's asking the narrator to do an "American" accent its Irish the book is asking for and it's a cluster fuck we are getting... sorry pal.
I’ve noticed all the American accents sound like John Wayne 😆
SHARPE??? He's just lucky.
As bad as this narrator it's not nearly as bad as the worst. I still shudder thinking about sharpes honour
The narrator isn’t bad he just isn’t English

The accent spoils the story.

I had to stop. you all know why!
Can’t listen 😩
I thought that but carried on and enjoyed it. I can't complain because I'm to lazy to read it myself
So sad. Literally two ads every 3 minutes. Extremely disappointing.
The accents are terrible
