What is doing the cutting action the black block or is it happening before the wire is finished or is it the mandrel itself?

You know how when you bend a paper clip back and forth it will eventually break? That same thing is happening to the wire once it is no longer supported by the mandrel.

Intriguing. Will it work with Stainless Steel say up to .062 diameter wire?

I've gone all the way up to 0.125" in stainless. All depends on how powerful your drill is.
