More than a song, this is an hymn for all those soldiers who falled on the field of honour, on the holly beaches of Normandy. Merci beaucoup Monsieur Jim Radford. I hope this hymn will become the hymn for the future British mémorial to be raised in Ver sur Mer, Normandie, France, scheduled to be inaugurated in 2024.
An absolutley moving song, Jim Radford i salute you for sharing your song with the world, god bless you and all those that gave their lives so we would never witness the horrors that you all witnessed.................
I have served my entire adult life in the Royal Marines and I had a complete blub fest over this. Utterly mind blowing lyrics sung by a man whose voice just takes you right back to that day. Jim, your the man..... Thank you and all the others for your service and sacrifice
Chris R: I first heard Jim sing this song of his in a pub after hours lights down low a room full of folkies by the time Jim had finished it was not only those present who had a tear Jim did too, he said to me years later I don`t get like that now so very powerful yes powerful and in its own way anti war. Very much helped by the tune chosen Dawning of the Day / Raglan Road.
Jim you were fantastic. My husband n I watched you live in the Albert hall .. the tears arnd us were amazing .... I would soo love to recieve your CD millions would by it ... Why did they do jess stone that was awful .
This should be compulsory listening on every June the 6th, just to remind some of the ungrateful people in the world today what sacrifices were made for them 71 years ago.
I agree with you 'daveynose' but I also think all 15yr olds (the age Jim was when this happened) should listen to it too, to appreciate how lucky they are
Seen this tonight on Royal Albert Hall *Brilliant* they should have got him to sing Green Fields of France* too. Instead of that Horrible version of it Sung by Joss Stone (Who is she). Folk Singers do these Songs better that POP STARS

every politician should be made to listen to this
+davey nose They should be forced by law to listen to it at least twice a year.
My dad, John Webster, landed on Sword Beach that day and lost his best friend and though he lived to be 87 he never got over it.

Lovely lyrics and beautifully sung, wish my Dad could have heard this but we lost him back in March
Cried like a baby. So powerful. Thank you.
Brilliant. Brought a tear to my eyes
Superb performance I have listened to a few times and everything I have tears running down face and a lump in my throat please get it realised
Really gives you a small sense of the atmosphere and sacrifice much more than reading accounts of events. Brilliant man and performance.

Just love this so heartfelt - god bless you Jim x

Lovely man what experiences he and many like him have had. The words of the song says a lot. Better than X Factor.

I agree with Sir I have never heard such a hash up of the Green Fields of France, she should be banned from preforming it in public.
