Hi Wizard, I’ve been renting my first shop (here in the UK we call them ‘industrial units’ 🤣) since December last year. Two thoughts on your lights... LEDs are much brighter, cheaper to run, and last much longer. Also I have clear panels in the roof of my shop... I don’t need lights at all during the day... might be worth your while to get quotes to install clear roof panels... just a thought. And great video btw, all the best to you and Mrs from one of your UK fans 🇬🇧🇺🇸
His area in Kansas gets bad hail and storms. If I remember correctly his building is quite old but good part is the metal and metrial used is extremely high quality which is great against hail. Even through all this time and the forklifts stabbing into the metal wall it's still in great condition. Plastic or clear roofs would just make it break more often. Also maybe even bring down value. Then heat. They don't have AC.
Yeah if you Google Omega this is what you get. " As the last letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega is often used to denote the last, the end, or the ultimate limit of a set, in contrast to alpha, the first letter of the Greek alphabet; see Alpha and Omega."

Hey..... That's not a bad idea and certianly worth checking into! I think there are federal and/or state funding for such equipment. Also, if you get to the point that if you produce excess energy (above and beyond what he consumes himself) the power company is REQUIRED to buy his excess power at a fixed rate and put that power back into the power grid. And like what was mentioned.... that is a LOT of flat roof space. :^)
Wizard, greetings from India. Just loved how you made it this big. What an inspiration! My salute to Mrs. Wizard for her support. And, thanks to Hoovie for introducing you to us.

Solar panels are a publicity stunt. The initial investment is only repaid in 20 years then you need to replace them cause they lost there efficiency. Which just puts you back where you started. I have worked this out a couple of times with different companies and different solar panels. Over the 20 years of installation you might profit $100 to $500 before you need to replace all of them. It is really not worth the time and the money. You rarely get your investment back.
@@boerebru Just not true. The cost of solar panels and battery storage has dropped 90% over the last 10 years and continues to fall. THey are a great way to save money on utilities and have a long life. they might lose some efficiency after 20 years but they will still be providing 80 % or more of the original capacity. Many people get a payback in less than 10 years.
You guys don't have to believe me. But i would like you to think and do your own research cause clearly you are drinking the Kool aid. Ask yourself this; Why have so many solar companies failed? Why is solar so heavily subsidized from the government and still fails. @james you are either lying or can't do math proper. I have seen many a company install solar panel on there huge buildings of roofs and then a year or 2 later you go there and they disconnected it and work on normal electricity. Why? Cause it is not cost effective and reliable. Yes if you live in the middle of nowhere it's the thing to have but you also still have a diesel generator on standby. We still need about another 10 years of solar - and battery technology for it to catch up to the cost effectiveness of regular electricity production. Ask yourself Japan the most advance technological country in the world doesn't even really invest in solar but in nuclear why is that?

There isnt a huge cost savings going from T5 fluorescent lights to LED. If you don't want to spend 1000's of dollars on converting to LED, then you'll be fine with T5's. However, if his shop was using HPS (High Pressure Sodium) lights, that would be a different story.
@@bigggmustang73 whoa there. I'm an electrician here and you will save 50 - 55% on your lighting bill by switching to led. A t5 45" bulb that replaces a 54w florescent bulb uses 24w to produce the same light. They cost $10 a bulb and will work with the GE and Phillips insta start ballast that is already installed in those lights. Or you can just cut out the ballast and bypass it either way. What did he say he had 55 fixtures. 2 lights x 55 @ $11 /each = $1,210. rent a Scissors lift and do it in an afternoon.
scottcol23 we switched out 8 foot fluorescent bulb, 240 volt fixtures at my work for LED panels. I think the panels were 1000 a piece. 140,000 square feet was 75k so I was basing my estimate on that. But your solution sounds much better!

Just as a suggestion, I know that this isn’t in the budget right now but perhaps maybe somewhere down the road, you might consider one of those post lifts like Tyler and Freddy have at their homes to store more cars in your shop if you’re really running out of space. Again, I know that’s a very big expense and that it’s not ideal for the time being but it’s something to consider
Michael Sackstein, perhaps the lift company will sponsor the Wizard. It would be a win-win situation. Wizard gets the benefit of the lifts, the lift people would have their name advertised for free by both Hoovie’s and Wizard’s channels.

Yes, I was going to suggest the same. The right skylights will provide all the free light needed on a sunny day. The system then needs a 'smart sensor' to switch on the LEDs when it is cloudy. Add a few solar panels, and with the entire combination the electricity cost will be slashed.

I wonder if the clear roof panels would hold up against the hail he was speaking of, especially as they aged.
You can see them in the video.
Clear panels would be an invitation to bad actors. It would be a weak link in his security system.
Then heat. They don't have AC.
dave, you didn't tell us the meaning behind your shop's name, "omega".
I'm assuming hes trying to imply like his shop is the last stop you'll need because he'll get the job done. Omega means "the end" if I'm correct. 🤔
He talks a lot about his time in the military. Maybe its the name of the squad he was in.
OMEGA Gosh, you workin' on stuffs
Yeah if you Google Omega this is what you get. " As the last letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega is often used to denote the last, the end, or the ultimate limit of a set, in contrast to alpha, the first letter of the Greek alphabet; see Alpha and Omega."
Seeing the two of you next to each other really made me smile. Thank you for producing content that makes me smile while I am enjoying my morning coffee.
A respectable master of his trade. A local specialist garage like this is a treasure. Good luck, sir!
Wizard, you are a very honest person, I could only wish there was way more people like you.
Collectively you both have done an impressive job. Thanks for taking us on today’s journey. Congratulations on your successes.
With all that roof surface, it might be prudent to fit your shop with photovoltaic panels.
When hoovie buys his next “vehicle” he’ll be able to put gold plated solar panels on the roof and install a wind farm next to the building
It would have to be a tough system because of the hail storms that frequent that area.
Great idea, but I bet when Wizard gets his estimate, he'll say, "Nah, I would rather pay off the building first. "
@@qx4n9e1xp As Roger here noted, that would depend on how it pencils out considering any subsidies available.
That’s awesome that you guys deal with farm equipment as well, I’d love to see some work done on those old tractors!
Thank you to you and your family for your service, it's not easy to serve away from family or run a household when mom or dad is deployed. Thank you
You can see that you two have great chemistry and are absolutely in sync on succeeding together. Wonderful
This is the most heart warming video i really love this video especially to see mr. wizards and mrs. wizards together talking
"its not a rush job"
If more business' in general could not be a rush job it'd probably better for everyone
Wizard, greetings from India.
Just loved how you made it this big. What an inspiration!
My salute to Mrs. Wizard for her support.
And, thanks to Hoovie for introducing you to us.
Good things happen to good people, much respect to the wizard.
such classy folks being showcased from the heartland thanks to hoovie...Much love to him and the wizard clan!
Love it. I also own a small business and we are shut down cause of the virus, so I am selling on ebay trying to get by. Stay safe Wizard.
I always envisaged a young boy aged nine or ten helping around the shop and working the camera with the regular questions! I always thought to myself: "man, someday that kid is going to be a great mechanic!".
One of the main draws for me was and is your Mello personality and professionalism plus your working together with your wife & the deep respect you have for each other & when you explained how you treat your customers & the relationship with everyone who brings you exotic cars, they can't help but Love you & recommend u, and I'm sure you lay the Law down in a very serious but respectful way to the customer ( I will fix & take care of your car like it's mine, but don't play with my money & we will get along fine or the car stays here until I'm payed in full ,sign here, thank you) yeaaaaBaby Very Nice but business is business & friends are friends 2 different things Amen 👍😂😁
Some solar panels on the roof would take care of that electric bill.
LEDs save a lot of energy over other types of bulbs.
Many people get a payback in less than 10 years.
boerebru our house solar paid for itself in four years.
Remember those golf ball sized hail stones Wizard mentioned?
Wizard, thanks for the very personal video. Mrs. Wizard is definitely the one for you. I've always been impressed with your production. It's very nice to see and hear from the video technician/ editor/ producer. Big thanks to Mrs. Wizard.✨✨✨✨🌟
Very cool. So humble and honest - Wizard and his team clearly are very good, and it shows.
You and Mrs. Wizard do a fantastic job, really enjoy your videos!
Thanks Mr and Mrs Wizard for all your effort to put out these videos. Always excited to see a notification for this channel.
I would like to know how many employees you have, especially mechanics.
I’m also impressed UA-cam generates just as much income as repairing. It have grown fast. Great video by the way.
One of the few channels where I watch from beginning to end. Thank you, Wizard!
I’m glad I’m not the only tech turned owner. It’s a lot more stress but it’s rewarding. I’ve been watching you for a while. I see you’re doing well. Need to get myself a spot like yours, I’ve only got two bays and wind up working outside a lot, and my lots always full. Goals
I feel like hoovie basically put this man and his children through college
Umm basically you are right! 😏
@@7633J It goes both ways. Without the Wizard, Hoovie can't flip the cars over.
It's a 2 way street I'd assume
Hoovie had a lot to do with his success. They both helped each other grow. Having a good woman that supports you in good and bad times makes a world difference.
someone can give us a hand or help but ya still gotta do the work
You’ve gotta do the LED switchover, Wizard.
There isnt a huge cost savings going from T5 fluorescent lights to LED. If you don't want to spend 1000's of dollars on converting to LED, then you'll be fine with T5's.
However, if his shop was using HPS (High Pressure Sodium) lights, that would be a different story.
probably be like 20-30k upfront cost to install LED's
There is not a big a savings from (good condition) Florescent tubes to LED . T5 fluorescent is about 60 to 80 lumen per watt. LED might be about 90 lumen per watt. not enough to justify switching over (if in good condition).
Love Mrs Wizard. She's lovely !
Hello from the UK, I don't know how i stumbled on to yours or Hoovies channel but i'm glad i did.. From my heart you and your family deserve everything you've worked hard for.. Super love the content and the channel.. You are truly one in a million when i comes to fixing cars.. and what you do.. Subscriber for life.. Thank you.. I hope you get all you work hard for..
We recently swapped all our florescent lights in the shop to led fixtures and the lighting improvement was amazing. Definitely recommend if you're trying to get the bills down, the money they saved us versus their actual cost definitely makes itself up. Thanks for another great video!
Nice to see a hard working couple living the dream! I’m currently in the beginning stages of operating my own shop and I can really relate to how you must have felt when everyone was calling you crazy or foolish. Now look at you and Mrs Wizard!!! You guys kick ass! Cheers from Vancouver Canada. Working hard pays off
Just as a suggestion, I know that this isn’t in the budget right now but perhaps maybe somewhere down the road, you might consider one of those post lifts like Tyler and Freddy have at their homes to store more cars in your shop if you’re really running out of space.
Love the Wizard, the sort of journey man an apprentice needs, respect 👏
Great to hear his success story. Sounds like a guy who's worked hard to get to where he's at
Thanks Wizard not only are you down to earth but you seem like a real genuine nice guy. And I love the detail you pick as that I feel many others just gloss over stuff which lets them down and I think that makes you a really great youtuber.
You're the man Car Wizard 👊
Now you just need a Lamborghini tractor to show us on UA-cam, and the circle will be complete.
I'd bet the majority of people have no idea of the connection
I would be awesome if we can get our hands on a Lamborghini tractorme and The wizard both could make some pretty interesting videos out of that
Wizard God bless you, I really enjoy your story on how and why you've grown
to your present location. I
don't have to tell you, people see creators as fool's and dreamers. You have to endure much but if you don't give up on yourself and do your homework you'll look back and surprise
yourself. Take care.🙏
PS; To say you and
Mrs Wizard are versatile would be an understatement. Awesome!!
Glad to see your success wizard. My family has had a similar business to yours for around 30 years a good old fashioned family mechanic business and it’s a great honest way of making a living. We just updated to LED lights and they are pretty efficient but we found the best way to light the shop during the day is put sky lights or clear portions of the roof to bring in natural light.
Thanks for your service vet, also to mrs wizard!!
Love it! It's awesome that you and Mrs. Wizard has put this channel together to provide education and some entertainment. Thank you for the valuable material you put out and good luck with everything. It's very hard to find good and trustworthy mechanics.
I'm glad it worked out for you and that you've become so succesful Wizard, you deserve it! I really enjoy your tips and your work on your channel and on Hoovie's channel.
Great vid Wizard. It's nice to know a more in-depth view of the man the shop the wife.. the Legend!👍
The USA needs more "honest shops" like yours. I've seen you on "Car Issues" and I developed respect for how you make an honest living. Your quality will always keep you busy and profitable. Congratulations!
Australia needs more like you as I have taken my car to a few body shops to have some work done. Really made a mess off the Job. Parts missing, scratches on the dash, and contaminated paint.
I guess that's why I watch your videos, nice to see what a genuine mechanic does for a living. Also good to pick up a few tips along the way as I like to work on my car.
If I ever get a chance to pass by I will come and visit.
Great Story. I wish u many many years of success. Stay safe out there.
Great video, great business, great people! Can’t wait to see you taking care of a Audi 80/90/cabriolet!! Greetings from the Netherlands!

Just found your channel and I really like watching your videos. The calm and the down to earth approach of yours is really appealing. Also nice to hear your story about how you've come this far. Keep on going I'd say and I'm really looking forward to see more videos! Greetings from the Netherlands
Great story Wizard. You deserve everything you have because you worked your butt off and Mrs Wizard is a big help too. Led lights should help a lot. JR put all led lights in his shop.
I love cars, but know zero about how to work on them. But I recently found your channel through Hoovies and love it. Its very addicting, and I have a renewed admiration for talented auto mechanics. I live in St. Louis, but have been through Newton Kansas quite a few times over the years, as I have a friend in nearby Hutchinson. Keep up the great work and the entertaining UA-cam videos.
8:04 that for me is far enough reason from when you and hoovie started and woah its 10 years ago thats a very long time and you guys already had a very strong bond not just as business partners as friends as well... i love this video be safe car wizard and everyone there at kansas...
Here in Az. Skylights are used extensively, FREE light, just get stronger ones for your bad weather.
Yes, I was going to suggest the same. The right skylights will provide all the free light needed on a sunny day. The system then needs a 'smart sensor' to switch on the LEDs when it is cloudy. Add a few solar panels, and with the entire combination the electricity cost will be slashed.
From one old fat veteran who somehow married up to another:
Nice work, sir. Mrs. Wizard is quite a pretty lady!
I love America, this country allows wonderful people like you to help, entertain, and teach us.
Thank you.
Thats smart, we have mad multiple people at my shop that never paid the ticket come with a spare key and steal the vehicle. Once you sign the paper work,it is in the shops ownership until they are payed.
