Dude, we started listening to her three years ago and now its part of our daily lives. Her huge talent with attention to detail and outstanding quality without flash and junk. Its really invigorating to hear all these classics performed with respect to the original yet made fresh. Just knowing that one day i can see them live again is exciting. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy.
She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond.

"I Put a Spell On You" (black/white studio version at age 9) will change what you think about child singers. Norway's Got Talent started her journey at 7/8 with 4 songs. I really like "Summertime". Feeling Good at 10 (Gir Tilbake). Bohemian Rhapsody started my Angelina journey and changed how I listen to music. I Have Nothing (Whitney Houston), Suspicious Minds (Elvis) and on and on. I agree, this song isn't in my top 50 either, but then I was never a big Amy Winehouse fan when she was popular. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I would classify any of her videos as "bad", it's just that some are so much better than others.

- Who is Angelina Jordan -
Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 5 originals, all since the age of 7. Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She's also influenced by Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Adele, to name a few. She's also been said to be the girl of 1,000 voices. Yet even though we can hear the phrasing and style she puts in the songs, it's always Angelina that we hear.
At 7 years old, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She was the last to audition. The judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. They saw a diminutive mussy haired, barefooted girl with her teeth still growing in. For her audition, she performed "Gloomy Sunday" from Billie Holiday. On TV-2, they've reported over 14 million views of this performance. This does not take into account the many hundreds of reactors showing this audition to millions more.
Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood.
That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old.
Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. It wasn't that she wasn't good enough to be in the final 5, but it was because she refused to sign with an AGT affiliated label, should she win. She knew very well what production hungry labels could do to her music. She even turned down Disney.
At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. Angelina is now 16 and lives in LA. She turned 17 on January 10, 2023, and will graduate from high school after the spring semester. From then on, she will embark on her full-time professional career. She's been working closely with Republic on her first album under their label. It's likely that it will drop shortly after her graduation.

Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them.
Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.”
From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.
Welcome to Angelinas world. There are good singers, star singers but there is only one Angelina. Acording to Stargate producers Angelina is "Freaking, insanely, scary talented". If you react to her songs you may find bad recordings and songs you dont like but you never will find a bad performence by Angelina at any age.

Some of Angelinas best are a cover in black and white of Screaming Jay Hawkins , "I put a spell on you" when Angelina was 9 tears old. My personal opinion of that one is that once you become able to articulate anything again It's a Masterpiece on every level. If you haven't heard Screaming Jay's original you wouldn't catch this but she pays homage to the original but puts her own take on it. Be sure to get the black and white version.
I'm 68 and I was never an Amy Winehouse fan throughout the years, and even though Angelina seems to like her music, this is not one of my favorites. Although... I think every song she has done is amazing, especially for the age she is when performing them. If it hasn't been stated yet, Angelina's mom told her the original lyrics weren't appropriate for a 10 year old to be singing, (and they weren't) so in 24 hours Angelina rewrote them. You see her referring to the sheets during the video because she just made the finishing touches in the car on the way to the studio. Her bare feet are because of an experience she had when she was 6, and she ALWAYS sings barefoot in public in remembrance of a homeless, shoeless girl she met, even now, 11 years later. AJ was signed by Republic Records at the age of 14 under her terms, and one of those was, that she wouldn't be heavily promoted until after she finished school. Her first album is ready and awaiting release later this summer. In all my years, I have never listened to anyone that sings with as much feeling and emotion as this young lady, and that fact alone has kept me listening to her every day for almost 7 years now. Many of Angelina's performances have a back story that is as good as is the performance...in this case, it is a cover of a song by Amy Winehouse. Amy's songs and lyrics are sometimes pretty graphic and not suitable for a 10 year old to be singing. In this case Angelina's mother told her she could not perform the song with the original lyrics (you can look them up to see why). So, being the prodigy that she is, Angelina rewrote the lyrics the night before and on the way to the studio. What's more, she wrote them in a way that matched the phrasing and rhythm of the original so that the orchestra (the national radio orchestra of Norway) would not have to rearrange the music. Angelina is well known for rearranging the musical score of her covers and then interpreting the lyrics with her jazz-influenced voice.
Gentlemen, you have just scratched the surface of an enormous musical talent...I am 80 years old, and I have not heard a singer like Angelina in all my life! She can touch your heart and soul like no other! By the time you listen to all of her current catalog of 180+ performances we will be celebrating New Year 2024 and beyond!

Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8 yrs old after starting the competition at 7 yrs old. The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. Her next performance was a beautiful rendition of 'Bang, Bang' by Sonny & Cher and performed most famously by Nancy Sinatra. She won the competition with what I consider her first Masterpiece performance of 'Summertime' by George Gershwin. There is video of Angelina recorded by her mother Sarah Astar singing a couple of lines of "I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston when she was 18 months old. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rd language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with Japanese and some German and perhaps more. She did this from 2 & 3 yrs old by scrolling thru UA-cam of all their most Iconic performance. Angelina doesn't just mimic these greats, she reinterprets them and then simply sings them the way they were meant to be sung. She makes them her own.
Angelina was begging her mother to go on "that Simon show" when she was 3 yrs old. encouraged to sing children songs, she would have none of that. This is probably 'the most different than the original song' than any other song by Angelina. Still good. Some say at 10, I'm still holding out for you, may be one of her best ever. It is sometimes referred to as 'The greatest song Never released' I never really got into much of the music that Angelina sings, and that may be the most unusual thing about this experience, the fact that I can't stop listening. Angelina was 12 here. It’s worth checking out all her performances on Holland’s Got Talent which she entered a 7 and was 8 by the final. Also probably the most watched her rendition of I Put a Spell on You in which she plays homage to the original artist Screaming Jay Hawkins, she did the arrangement herself, just 9 years old! I Have update for you. She has over 185 covers that include 9 Originals, 5 Composed by her with little help, but she had the last say-so on the arrangements. "What Is Life", "Oslo", "Shield", Million Miles" and "7th Heaven, last 2 under Republic Records. 2 Were written for her voice when she was 13, "Above The Water" and "A Song For A". 1 was a Demo when she was 10 and leaked at age 12 before Baby Fuzz released his version. And if you listen he used her arrangement. Last was a Duet with Red One who wrote the song "We Are The Best" performed at the 2022 FIFA Awards Ceremony on 23 February 2023. If you pay attention to the lyrics their solos don't fit. I believe Angelina rewrote her part, just my opinion. Her 10th Original will be released at the end of April a couple months before her Summer World Tour. Album that is finished will be released after the tour this Fall, God Bless!

It’s more accurate to say she completely rewrote the song to something more appropriate for a young girl to sing and made it fit flawlessly to same music. In less than a day! Obviously you guys aren’t familiar with the original Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. It has very “Adult” language and theme. Angelina’s mother didn’t want Angelina singing it as is, so she told Angelina that if she wanted to sing it, she would have to rewrite the lyrics. Which she did, with only one day’s notice! In fact, she was putting the finishing touches on them while in the car on the way to the recording site! So, this performance highlights her song writing capabilities as much as it does her singing.

Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.
Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to be a superstar, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. I'm not sure of Angelina's age here, but suspect it was 10 or 11, and at that tender age was a fan of Amy's. But Amy's life was rough, and her lyrics were equally rough. Angelina is surrounded by a loving family who love her more than we fans do, and that's really a lot. They couldn't see her, at her then age, of singing Amy's lyrics (I'm not sure that Angelina could either). Anyway, she re-wrote them on the way to this session to match her age, and she looks, sings and sounds absolutely beautiful in the aftermath. What's not to love.
