All the people saying "falling from the stairs means they committed suicide" are wrong and victims of misinformation. This was a rumour spread way back in the day on the One Piece reddit and god knows how it spread so far and wide, but it's straight wrong. Falling down the stairs does NOT mean suicide.
Kuina actually just fell down the stairs. Her fall is meant to show how randomly tragic life can be, even for those who have finally worked it out and are looking forward to their future. The actual tragic aspect of her death, bar the fact that a child died, is that it needn't have happened. If Zoro hadn't demanded a fight with real swords she would never have had to get supplies to sharpen Wado with, would never have been in the storehouse to fall down the stairs. Her battle with Zoro led to her accidental death.
So no, she didn't kill herself. It would make NO SENSE for her or Zoro's story for her to do so. It would have broken her promise with Zoro to become the best. She was breaking down the walls ahead of her to become better. There was no need for her to have killed herself. It was just a tragic, random accident.

There's a OP theory that Zoro's teacher killed Kuina. I don't remember the exact reason as to why the theory exists but it's interesting

There is 2 ways to approach this Kuina Situation:
First - in the East there is a saying that you dont tell children if somebody off'ed themself, instead they fell down the stairs.
Second - she got obliterated by the one and only: Down D. Stairs
