    This is by far my favorite style by new era, it looks the best on my head. I only wish they would start offering more especially for the nba I wanna rep my rockets!! I always see baseball and football low profile sell out online with it being such a popular style you would think they’d produce more

      Scott Craigen new era's weird like that, they'll make every team/design available for the flat brimmed 59fifty, but screw over guys like me who prefer a curved brim, & a smaller/lower crown.

    I’m really glad to stumble upon this video! I have this exact problem with a high profile fitted White Sox cap.. will for sure trim out any excess material to see if that helps! Great tip!

      Cool, thanks for the comment. It helped with the comfort on this Phillies cap, hopefully it makes a difference for you. I've also noticed that the seams/black seam covers can affect the comfort there... newer caps with flat seams on the inside seem to be better.

    Awesome video. I wear low and high profile hats but I notice with the low crown I always tend to fidget with it more.

      Thanks for the comment... the low profile is a good alternative, so I'll probably have a few more in the collection as well

    Luckily I only bought low crown hats on Spring Training hats from two years ago and I didn't see a problem like this on those

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  6 років тому +3

      Yes, this one was pretty bad, but I've seen it only once or twice in 25 hats over the past 3 years (standard or low profile). So it's probably still a rare quality defect, but can happen during assembly. Thanks for watching!

    I always have a dodger hat and usually I'm not happy with the fit right away but my wife bought me a black one with a gray bottom perfect fit wondering if its a low profile

  • @lukegurley3685
    @lukegurley3685 4 роки тому +2

    Do you know if the low profiles on newera.com have a grey under brim?

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  4 роки тому +1

      I think most are black, like the on-fields. This Phillies one was from a special collection with the gray under, thanks

    Hi I found out online the Low Profile is a little bit shallow than the regular 59fifty I'm confuse if I should get smaller than my Actual size or stick with my Head Size. What your reference on these doug? Thanks

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  4 роки тому

      I have stayed with my normal size in the low profile. The difference really is the crown height, not the sizing around the sweatband. Thanks!

  • @mgfragiotta
    @mgfragiotta 3 роки тому +1

    Hey Doug I'm usually a 7 1/8 in standard 59fifty but I've read if getting a low profile to go down a size as they fit one size bigger than on label so I'd need a 7 , is this true do you know ?

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  3 роки тому +1

      No, not true - I'd recommend your normal size or even 1/8 larger b/c of reduced volume in the crown. But remember that any New Era cap is going to vary - thanks for the question.

    Would perhaps a soldering iron work better than a cigar lighter? It may be easier to control the heat?

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  3 роки тому

      Maybe, you could certainly try it... I've just always used flame to singe loose threads because it's quick. Thanks for the question.

    What tool is that you are using to clamp the bill?

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  6 років тому +2

      It's called a Quik-Grip clamp, and you can find them at hardware stores. See my other video on shaping caps for more info: ua-cam.com/video/8N-EL-rmgIc/v-deo.html Thanks!

    Did they make "low profile" pro model new era hats back in the 80's/90's for players or ever sell them? Or is this just in the last few years? When I look at old photos from that period, some players look like they have low profile style caps.

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  3 роки тому +1

      To the best of my knowledge, the official Low Crown (now called Low Profile) was available for both players and consumers in the late 2000s (but another viewer may be able to correct me). I think those photos could suggest some special customization by the players, or by New Era as the supplier to the team.

    Hi sir. May I ask why do you size up on 59fifty low profiles?

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  Рік тому

      It's mainly because I like a little extra room over my forehead... and since the crown is lower and rakes back at a shallower angle, I give myself more room by going one size up, thanks.

  • @donotseemecricket
    @donotseemecricket 3 роки тому

    do the low profile hats run small? i saw a few people say they sized up compared to the original 59fifty

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  3 роки тому

      The sizing diameter will be the same as the standard, but some prefer to go up 1/8 of a size to get a little more volume because the crown will of course be lower. That's personally what I have done with the few LPs I have, thanks for the question.

    Any updates on this method? I have found that several of my hats have this problem... How feasible do you think using some sort of file would be?

    • @dreinthe616
      @dreinthe616  5 років тому

      I think most of the material that creates the problem would be immune to a file - the only thing stiff enough to file might be some of the buckram edges, because of the plastic. I'd stick with fine cutting tools to remove excess material that causes discomfort - thanks.

      This is a Low Profile 59Fifty made in Crimson with the current PHILLIES logo - I got it from Lids.com about 2 years ago and I have not seen it again after it sold out.

    Wouldn't it make more sense to just use the scissors and the lighter? Also, you are a cigar smoker!?!
