Good morning. Thank you for this instructional video. I didn't see the link for which PVA book.binding glue that you used. Could you provide it please? Thank you.
I’ve kept my ESV leather bound Bible in pristine condition for 13 years. Use it a lot but I just protect it vigorously. When I travel, I keep it in the cardboard box that came in.. Anyway, I put it on top of my van for just a moment today and then later on drove off and it fell on the road and clump of pages has peeled up just a little bit to where I can’t press it back down all the way. I would say maybe 25 to 50 pages, just a group of them have kind of pulled up a bit. Any idea how to get that back down into the binding or what type of local business would be able to do that? Very sad day…
Gilding requires the page edges to be sanded down to a very flat, very smooth surface, and to apply the metal, certain types of equipment are needed. A gilding roller for bookbinders is like $400 and that’s not counting size and transfer foil itself. There are other ways to achieve a gilt-like effect, namely dyes and/or paints, but they are not true gilt. Gilt is always metal, whether gold leaf like the old days or aluminum transfer foil like now. These also require the proper techniques but are probably easier and less expensive to accomplish for non-bookbinders.
I appreciate your teaching on this. 😊

Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful.
Using post it notes on the Bible paper where you don't want the glue helps also. 😊

Thanks for the great video
you can use a fine point paint brush also. Thanks
Thanks for this. 😊
Will plain white Elmer's Glue work instead of the special stuff you're using?
It is not as strong but for this particular application, it would work fine because the added strength wouldn't be needed
Do you have any tips or ideas on re-gilding a bible at home? Not art gilt, but the standard gold/silver?

What's the name of the glue?
What if that happens in the middle of the Bible?
Why the long beginning of nothing’s happening on this post?
It was a live stream and I am terrible at live streams, never knowing when it was going and when I was waiting
Bro Tate!!! I totally just did this today and it worked great. Thanks for this one 🫶
