Love mine as I bought it new, some years back and it was pricey but the quality was there with a great build. (Have recently bought SR-18 drum machine which is a huge learning curve.) Had to look at the DB-88 manual online to reset back to the factory presets and wipe out the 8 presets I one time messed up. And start over. Like you said, it’s a great learning tool which you can pull out fast, spin the tempo wheel and in seconds have a crisp beat to practice. The beauty is the pure simplicity. The SR-18 stuffed with batteries is a challenge to learn and Hercules powerful and buying a used one, can make sense. Nice camera clarity and your video made my day. Good narrative on a sweet device!

I want to let you know that I bought one of these based solely on your very brief demonstration of the "beat nazi". It's certainly jarring, but that is a big part of the fun. It'd be fun to use it in a song somewhere, if I only ever use it for one thing, though the unit as a whole does have a variety of useful features/functions. Thanks.

If this came out in 1980 it would have been the rhythm box on an electronic album!

Can you have a tempo slower than 30? Also, can you do subdivisions smaller than sixteenth notes- so quintuplets, sextuplets, etc?
