Almost 30 years ago.. Just let that sink in that in a time where Slayer would be considered the heaviest thing, these guys were doing guttural death growls and singing about gore and philosophy in a unique blend. Just amazing \m/ Chuck may be gone, but his legacy lives on.
R.I.P Chuck In his early years, most brutal high pitched growl in deathmetal history, it hurts my throat just by watching he do it haha. i wish there was a better video of 80's Death (Official), but this, tape recorded fuzzy video is very fitting to the underground american detahmetal scenary haha feels like i was there!
just because chuck sings it doesnt mean he wrote it. I met obituary bassist Terry Butler at the time with death and said he wrote half the records for them. rip chuck
I was there. (not this show but) I saw them a few times in Palm Beach, & Tampa. I got to sitx& have a couple beers with him & Terry Butler one night. Cool as hell!
wow i just got informed by a friend that ERIC BRECHT (D.R.I.'s frontman Kurt Brecht 's older brother ) was drummer of DEATH back in 85/86 !!! COOL \m/ \m/
Lego Forestman I can't believe it, I was actually at this fucking show! I had just turned 18, and Death was huge in my circle of friends! I still get a massive adrenalin rush from those first three albums.
Gracias, aunque yo tuve la suerte de verlos en vivo en 1998 en Chile,la unica vez que vinieron a sudamerica, una exelente banda en vivo,el mejor recuerdo que me queda en el mamoria.saludos desde chile.
While not the most talented version of the band it's still my favorite. I bought Leprosy on cassette when it first came out and it didn't leave my tape deck for months
Death es un grupo fenomenal que te llena de paranoia. con un sonido masacrante y una voz que solo Chuck te puede regalar.viva el death metal. thanks LIMA PERU DVD METAL
It's obvious how well rehearsed this band was. Certainly not the most tech heavy line up Death had, they made up for that with the dedication to the songs.
Honestly the best death is with rick I don't know if he put any of ideas in the music but I have a feeling he did just sounds like he's playing there's a reason they call him the riff master
Dr. Awkward No shit eh man I only wish I lived in a country with so many thrashers dude. I live in Canada, and there is fuckkkkkk All happening here for thrash, just gay electronic shit. On the plus side, I'm flying to Chilé in April to meet the band Dekapited, check then out man, they are fucking sick !
@Yarpenn Why do you compare a drummer with a guitarist? The best Death drummer imo is Sean Reinert. He is absolutely crazy on "Human". I like Gene Hoglan more with Dark Angel.

Frayed Ends of Sanity well said. Death and slayer are both bands we needed for death metal and metal
Morbid angel in 1986 was around and was way heavier even tho the band the members that we know today weren’t in the band
almost 37 years ago 2024 decz 20
leprosy a very important issue that todays music has completely forgotten, what a shame....
Yeah and they let scurrvy go nearly unnoticed
I love how brutal chucks old vocals were rip
Definitely!! Then he changed them and they didn’t work nearly as well.
@@matttipton6009 he prolly damaged his vocal chords and couldn't do it anymore

Totally agree. We would all love better quality, the Philadelphia live is ok. ua-cam.com/video/B9cjO4S17Jo/v-deo.html

Saw them at Joe’s garage in Fort Worth and 93.
Chuck was beast hands down i remember meeting him that year a true down to earth guy
Saw them in '89, still Leprosy tour. When you see Death, you LIVE! 🔥🤘🔥
I was born after Chuck died so I’m never gonna live 😭
@@keanuismyfather7477 Ok, so technically you were "Born Dead" then?
@@RushianRichard I mean that’s a bit of a stretch but uhh…

@@RushianRichard upon looking at the context of this thread I’ve concluded it’s not a stretch at all lol you nailed that
The essence of death metal !!
That was cool. The bass player helped Chuck out with the mic stand.
escuchar death es sentir el sonido y el ritmo maldito de schuck.
