    When it comes to a dark ride idea for Lord of the Rings, the most logical choice would be a journey through the mines of Moria, fleeing goblins through the dark tunnels with a final showdown with the Balrog at the very end. It would be very exciting, and honestly would probably be the best choice for ride other than the Hobbit rapids adventure in the barrels. Honestly, Middle Earth is so vast that it could easily be that entire extra bit of land with just the scope of places you could recreate.
    And as far as Nintendo, I really think that Luigi's Mansion is much needed. It could give Universal their own Haunted Mansion ride to rival Disney. Where Pokemon is concerned, I think that a stadium battling show could be fascinating. Just imagine if you could sit down and watch Pokemon matches, with the effects of the battle being felt where you sat, such as splashing water or the heat from flames.

    I love the idea of a Luigi’s mansion dark ride, but thematically I think it would be a better fit on the other side of SNW bordering Monsters land. However that small 1-2 acre expansion plot could fit something like Disney’s mythical “black box” attraction that can legitimately be updated on a seasonal/annual basis with new Nintendo games. I’ve always wanted to see a theme park ride that can be easily updated for holidays, tie in with new movies/games, etc.

      Once they go all in with Nintendo, they could also do Luigi’s Mansion as a HHN house.

    I think Universal could make multiple Lord of the Rings / Hobbit Lands in there parks, perhaps starting with a Epic Universe! If it’s successful i could see them re-theming parts of Toon Lagoon to feature other parts of the LOTR world!

    • @deron.sunwall
      @deron.sunwall Рік тому +6

      Toon lagoon could be essentially torn down and made into Mordor. The Black Gate would be it's enterence coming from Marvel Land. The whole land would feel separate with mountainous walls surrounding all sides of the land, closing you in.
      The main attraction is a Mount Doom Coaster/Dark Ride as you follow Sam and Frodo on their journey through Mordor to destroy the ring. Show scenes can even include the Shelob battle, sneaking around orc fortresses, climbing Mount Doom, Frodo and Gollum fighting for the ring, and then the destruction of the ring. Then you will see them escape as you get launched out of the mountain before it explodes, and as you look to the side, you will see Frodo and Sam flying on the Eagles... Obviously Mount Doom would be a huge, 200 ft 3-Dimensional mountain facade with a huge showbuilding in the back, and it can be put right where Dudley Do-Rights is currently.
      As far as the shops and stuff, it would be awesome to see heavily themed Orc fortress / tents with all sorts of "evil" merchandise (sauron, gollum, orc plushies, palantir seeing stones, orc swords etc) Food/restaurants can be heavily themed as well. There could be meet and greets with fully makeup Orc Captains looking like they are straight from the movie, where they interrigate you and a group of people, but Gandalf or someone comes in midway to save the day.
      The next part of the land you will get to by cutting through a mountain tunnel(with a ground level footpath) but in that tunnel you can here Gollum singing to himself. On the other side of the tunnel, where Popeye's currently sits, would be Isengard, tower and all... The main ride will be a rethemeing of Popeye's to the battle of Isengard, where the Ents, Merry, and Pippen flood the orc pits around the tower. You will ride around with showscenes throughout, and see Saruman, Ent, and Orc animatronics fighting it out.
      This whole "Evil" Middle Earth land would very nicely round out one of the best Parks in the world in Islands of Adventure, as well as free up some other Middle Earth lands for Epic universe and the fourth unbuilt park, such as Hobbiton, Rivendell, Minas Tirith, maybe even Moria...
      If Universal does manage to get these rights, I think it would be smart for them to put Middle Earth in every park they have, just like they did with the Wizarding World... With Middle Earth, Nintendo, Wizarding World, Jurassic Park, and the other iconic Universal IP, Universal would cement itself as being nose to nose with Disney parks within the next 10 years as far as attendance and draw goes, especially if they open the fourth park by then. I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on ideas and planning for the fourth park as we speak, they've been killing it lately, and they are eager to prove themselves in the Theme Park business.

Bttf, Jaws, Kongfrontation, the Beetlejuice show, Earthquake, Twister. The entrance could have the original Universal logo in neon. I think people would flock to it. While I would agree that LotR would be awesome for the park, having it right next to Wizarding World may not be the best place for it. Honestly, what Universal needs is to get the theme park rights for Star Trek so they can have a sci-fi franchise to compete with Galaxies Edge. Having a massive transporter hub where people stand on the transporter pad, lights go out and when the lights come back on, you're onboard a space station would be absolutely amazing. Plenty of merchandising opportunities, dining opportunities, immersive rides, etc. Could be a game changer.

    This was a great series man. Thanks for making it! I only have two comments:
    1. I wouldn't be too bothered by the Posideon's Fury refurbishment. They're not going to build another Nintendo ride/land until Super Nintendo Land at Epic Universe is out the door, and that won't open until 2025. So at minimum they need PF operational for 3-4 years until it can be replaced. Plus, once EU is finished and they move all of their business operations there, that'll free up a bunch of space between IOA & US for Hogsmeade, Seuss Landing, and/or a potential Hyrule to expand.
    2. Regarding LOTR theme park rights: basically the Embracer group just bought those. HOWEVER, while they bought film rights to make new films, they DON'T own the Peter Jackson versions (that belongs to Warner Bros. currently). And there are heavy rumors that Universal is going to buy Warner Bros., which would give Universal the Jackson movies. So while Embracer could give the LOTR theme park rights to Disney or whoever, they can't look like the Jackson movies without Universal's (potential) permission. And while LOTR is popular in general, everyone knows it the best through the movies, which is what any theme park creator would want it based off of. So if Universal buys Warner Bros., even though that doesn't come with theme park rights, they essentially have that in the bag, because who wants a LOTR park/land/ride not based on those movies?

    • @greenhousegames7384
      @greenhousegames7384 Рік тому +1

      I think if they really wanted to buy Warner Bros six flags is gone(universal does not care a bit), but I think that would rather spend the money on lands/theme park rights instead of spending the money to buy Warner Bros which I would guess at least 700m most likey lots lots higher. They spent around 300m for hagrid's ride so they could make a the very least 2 of the best rides with Intamin

      @@greenhousegames7384 Oh no my friend. Warner Bros. would cost Universal something along the lines of 30-40 BILLION dollars (with a "B"). And remember that Universal isn't just theme parks. Buying WB would help their movie, streaming, and distribution branches as well. Putting aside the depressing thought of a giant company eating another giant company: Being able to put Middle-Earth & DC (once Six Flags goes under) into their parks would be a major plus.

    I think rn the plan seems to be to replace lost continent with hyrule, if there were to be another Nintendo land though I think a strong contender would be either splatoon or animal crossing. Splatoon 3 just became the biggest game launch ever in Japan so there might be an incentive for international travel too.

    I want them to do a pokemon land however have it take place in Ryme City. I love the look and feel of Ryme City in the Detective Pikachu movie. Plus since the city can be condensed, you can place it easily in the expansion pad. You can have everything in Ryme City. You can recreate the coffee place in the movie. You can have many food options. Also have animatronic, statue, and costumes characters spread throughout the city. Best of all you can play real life Pokémon go and catch them all with a phone or device that can be purchased. Or help detective Pikachu solve mysteries around the city. If you want to battle pokemon you can recreate the battle arena in the movie, and utilize hologram technology or tech that can allow the player to play their Pokémon. The lab that housed Mewtwo can be placed outside the city which can be turned into a dark ride of sorts. The possibilities are endless.

    Kirby, along with Mario/Yoshi, DK and Zelda (& a Pokemon training academy), was one of the first drafted franchises I believe. Kirby would likely be the one to the small patch of land next to Nintendo World (Aimed mostly at toddlers). It's called Nintendo World instead of Mario World, so I would imagine all nintendo IPs would be next to each other. I would hope Zelda gets the bigger land as it fits the open world nature. Though Lost Continent being replaced by all of Zelda would be a dream come true. Pokemon is owned by Nintendo and also Gamefreak and Creatures Inc. The IP isn't made by nintendo though so is treated seperate on different occasions. Though the franchise is managed by the pokemon company. So maybe the Kid's area could become the Pokemon area after all.

      Disney should be focusing more on a mix of their own properties and original, non-IP, high quality, high-concept based attractions, like Expedition Everest or Mystic Manor.
      Disney’s most beloved rides, Small World, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder, etc., are all original parks.
      As for IP they should bring in, that’s a bit complicated.
      Marvel is complicated, because they can’t build Spider-Man, Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men for as long as the deal with Universal still exists.
      But there are characters that don’t fall under Universal’s deal. Namely, Doctor Strange, Nova, Shang-Chi, and Moon Knight.
      Perhaps they can get the rights from Universal for the full Marvel rights in Orlando, but that could be a while.
      You could build a new Marvel area in Hollywood Studios, perhaps retheming Rock’N’Rollercoaster to Doctor Strange? A Shang-Chi ride, perhaps?
      Galaxy’s Edge needs at least one more ride, preferably one with a bigger capacity than either of the current rides.
      Indiana Jones is fully-owned by Disney now, and would be perfect for a mini land for Hollywood Studios. A massive E-Ticket like Pirates in Hong Kong would be perfect.
      The Simpsons is also a possibility after Universal’s deal sunsets in 2028, especially given how prominent the show is on Disney+.
      Other stuff, the Encanto and Coco rides in Magic Kingdom, new pavilion in Epcot, and a third Avatar ride/expansion are all also possibilities.

    The “sweet spot” for UOR would be three theme parks and two water parks, for me. Shorter visits would see guests spend a long weekend at only the theme parks, or expanding to a week with adding waterparks and “double-dipping” by park-to-park travel with the theme parks. Vacation packages are huge and the existing Volcano Bay is stretched to capacity on most busy days as it is.,
    Four theme parks didn’t work for WDW, and I think it’s hard to balance all that effectively. There’s always a park left behind in that scenario, or feels outdated. One new, marketable ride at each of the three Universal parks every 3-ish years (round-robin style) would keep things fresh for years to come. While DAK is a beautiful park, it didn't move the needle on attendance like WDW was hoping for. It's very possible Epic Universe may not, either, if we're headed for a recession in the US, but at least UOR is not cutting any corners and has ground to gain by giving us a great new park, even if it may take years to properly pay off (see also: IOA opening after 9/11, and not really coming into it's own until Potter a decade later).
    I do think there's also a ceiling on how many parks can co-exist in Orlando, without running into attendance issues within a chain. And the sheer number of Team Members it takes to keep things running (on front lines and behind the scenes) makes me think that it will be at least a decade until they attempt to grow the resort with another theme park.

    • @ofclshn
      @ofclshn Рік тому +1

      Four parks definitely worked fine for WDW and would work just as well for Universal. Universal is really just duplicating it’s original master plan and it makes sense to do so given the success of the current UOR.

    I'm so torn on Zelda at Universal
    For one, if the entire stretch of Lost Continent from the Suess Landing border to the Wizarding World border was given a Zelda make over, that would just, fuck I would never want to leave Islands ever. My favorite roller coaster (VelociCoaster), dark ride (Spider-Man) and media franchise all represented in a single themepark would be so perfect for me. You could very easily make it so the Poseidon's Fury show building is Hyrule Castle, with the rest of the land being castletown. Like, it's so easy.
    The unfortunate thing with that however is not only would a show be pretty much the only attraction (and I'm not a huge show guy personally), but the ridiculous lines Hagrid's gets would spill into Hyrule. Zelda is just so rich with iconic locations filled willed attraction ideas thar you could make a WHOLE PARK using just the Zelda IP, a concept I've been exploring on/off in Planet Coaster. If Universal were to do anything with Zelda, I'd much rather it be it's own separate park. Mimick BotW's map and just incorporate elements from different games. You could have the King of Red Lions as a boat ride along whatever man made water feature ala the water taxis, you could have the Spirit Train as another transportation ride, you could have the Rickety Coaster as a roller coaster in the Eldin section, a flying coaster themed to the Rito in Hebra, water rides themed to the Zora in Lanayru, shows in the Hyrule Castle centerpiece, make Korok Forest a kids' area. There's so much potential, but unfortunately I know deep down Universal would never do a whole park dedicated solely to Zelda
    Whatever representation Zelda gets in themeparks tho, I hope it has either a VelociCoaster tier thrill coaster or Spider-Man tier dark ride to accompany it. If all my favorite franchise gets is some corny show I will go insane

    Let's say the Pokemon and Zelda lands go to Islands and Studios respectively, and the Lord of the Rings land goes to Epic in the 20 acre plot, what IP/land would you put in the 7 acre plot next to Nintendo and Monsters?

      I have two ideas of what could go there since Epic is trying for families. One idea is based around Camp Cretaceous to tie in more Jurassic Park, but the other that would be very interesting though kind of out there is a Steven Spielberg animated land. Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid!, etc. Like I said, out there but would be fitting.

    Loved this video!
    I don’t know how I’d feel about incorporating Pokémon and Zelda at Epic Universe, I’d rather they just stick with Super Mario Land as the sole video game IP there. Instead, Universal would be better off re-theming KidZone at Universal Studios to Pokémon and Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure to Zelda, since both of those lands are kind of being neglected. But that’s just me, overall I’d love to see more Nintendo at Universal in general!

      One issue is that seemingly Disney doesn't care so much. The current Disney CEO has publicly stated that he isn't focusing on parks, not when movies are making such profit. It's why the parks have been suffering the last decade. Honestly what will probably happen is that Universal Parks will surpass Disney, and then whoever is the next Disney CEO will be playing catchup.

    I’d like to see Super Nintendo World use the expansion pad to allow us to explore more of Mario’s world as there are endless possibilities with that alone. The aforementioned Luigi’s Mansion, a stand-alone Mario attraction, and maybe a kids area themed to Kirby. And who’s to say that they don’t already have enough space to build a new water park and still have plenty of room for a 4th gate, that way they match Disney tit for tat.

  • @helixgaming-gamingvlogskin6630

    4th park I can’t see being announced till either a year after epic opens to create even more excitement, or 2030 at the earliest if it’s not right after. It’s gonna be quick or a while from now. That is just announced, opening like 2035

  • @TheNamekianClown
    @TheNamekianClown Рік тому +1

    Yup I've been saying it for a long time about Nintendo. Epic Universe's expansion should stick to being the Mario universe, and they should put lands from other properties into the other parks. This isn't like Harry Potter to me since that's one property in multiple parks which I'm still kinda meh about it getting a 3rd land. The Mario universe could easily expand with locations like Rosalina's Observatory, Luigi's Mansion, New Donk City and Diamond City (or just stick WarioWare Inc. into New Donk since Diamond City isn't really a recognized name).
    Pokemon should be saved for the theoretical 4th park for the same reason Mario was saved for Epic Universe. It deserves the full size land treatment. I can understand why they'd want to feature Pokemon ASAP, but an idea I've come up with is to give it a walk through attraction temporarily in one of the other parks that could be moved to the new park later, similar to what they did with the Raptor Encounter.
    Zelda replacing the Lost Continent is such an obvious slam dunk. Not much else to say there. Only issue is Mythos, not sure what to do with that.
    I'd still like to see a general area with stuff like Kirby, Animal Crossing, Splatoon and Metroid, and while It seems the KidZone might be off the table now if they make it DreamWorks, but I could see the MIB area working especially if they can use the Bates Motel land as an expansion since MIB:AA is such an obvious easy Metroid or Splatoon reskin. Maybe even expanding into Simpsons? I don't know how much money that pulls in and they can't be too thrilled having to pay Disney for that license.

    enjoyable series! But if I'm honest I'd like to see Universal forget IP for the larger expansion plot as I think both Universal and Disney have become utter polluted with IP in recent years leading to an creativity vacuum of sorts........parks like the original Animal kingdom or some of the most unique and stunning European parks didnt focus on IP to create and shape their unique experiences. I would love to see what Universal could do without the constraints of IP holding them back.....think lost continent 2.0!! While IP is a winner from a merchandise perspective, some of my most memorable themepark moments have been on rides and experiences that have no IP attached.

    Also Luigi's Mansion will never be an attraction. It's too specific and not popular enough anyway. The only way it has any chance is as a HHN house, which is also extremely unlikely.
