The eye test is literally a license to change on the field results….well done once again CFP committee. FSU beat two SEC teams in their non conference schedule. The ACC beat the SEC in head to head this year. Terrible decision by committee leaving out undefeated FSU to have two one loss teams instead.

And sorry but The Acc beating sec in head to head is complete bogus when you look at the matchups. Is beating UF, Vandy, and SC (twice) indicative of being better? Especially when it was uneven matchups in ACCs favor? FSU (1st ACC) beat LSU (5th SEC) was uneven but I will still give ACC credit knowing how bad FSU beat them. And Miami beating A&M was impressive. That’s it. As for SEC, mid tier Kentucky beat ACCs 2nd Louisville.

Bama and Texas both had better losses than FSU. There isnt a single Nole fan that can point to a better loss and they know it! They just need to work harder next year and bolster their record with some quality loses while going undefeated to make it in the 12 team playoff.

I would like to take a moment to thank the coaches poll and ap poll for both having MUCH better voting systems in place than this garbage CFP room.
FSU just needs to get out of the ACC and do whatever it takes to get into the BIG10 and out of ESPN's pocket. The Fix was always in and was always going to be. The SEC is the same thing as ESPN and this wont change with the 12 team playoff, it will be another opportunity for the MASTER to make more money on its teams playing against more of its products. FSU has just been shown that even as a ESPN product, its at a different level and everyone in the ACC is on the outside no matter what. The only reason Texas is in is because they are going to the SEC next year.
ESPN just gave FSU our legal argument to get out of the pocket by telling FSU, its not good enough because the wins didn't matter.

It seems pretty obvious to me the matchups are all about money. Could have a year without the SEC in the final four because of money. And now, instead of a rematch of Georgia and Alabama in the Orange bowl it’s Georgia versus FSU any or orange bowl which someone consider another national championship level game. If they had done the rankings, the way they should have, nobody other than Alabama and Georgia fans would’ve had much interest in watching that ball game. So I think those are 2 things that demonstrate networks/money were behind decision & nothing related to football performance on the field
I think the BIG 10 Conference gets Notre Dame , Florida State , North Carolina , and Duke. I think the SEC Conference gets Miami Florida , Clemson , Louisville , and Georgia Tech.
Not at all an FSU fan, but what the committee just did was the worst snub in CFP history. If we are going to react to style points then we need to apply that to Alabama struggling to beat South Florida and needing a miracle to beat Auburn. I mean FSU beat LSU by more on a neutral site than Bama did at home with Daniels getting injured in that game. What are we even doing here?

they never wanted teams in the group of 5 in it. the ncaa needs to run a tournament, not pollsters who has no connection to the ncaa
Exactly. If the divisions got scrapped too, we wouldn’t have to endure the “what happens if Iowa or Purdue win the conference championship game” argument either. They should have had the 8-12 team playoff with auto bids for the conference champions and then we decide seeding based on all the other metrics we use now in conjunction with the at large bids.
The solution has always been painfully simple. 8-12 teams. No divisions in conferences. The conference championship is played between the highest ranked teams. Conference champs automatically get in. At large teams still get a chance considering that your season is over if you lose a one score game at the wrong time for whatever reason as we see now.
It should’ve stayed at 2 teams if we want to really be… tight about it. Next year we’ll still end up in this place. It’ll just be “does 10-2 Oklahoma deserve to be in more than 10-2 Louisville who are now only 10-3 because they played in a conference championship? Oklahoma didn’t even MAKE their conference title game!”

The polling is always interesting. It was always fun working with Heisman voters as well, as they'd get sizzle reels via snail mail back in the day. I think I still have Joey Harrington's around somewhere. :)
Regardless, AP has been the only legit poll for decades. The only reason anyone ever started referring to the coaches poll is because it was created by ESPN and Gannett, both of which are in the position to create just about any narrative they want. But we've always accepted that it was usually filled out by an AD or AAD.
It can get a little jumbled sometimes, considering I've worked for the AP AND Gannett. And McClatchy. And Knight Ridder. And Lee ... 🤣

Florida St also had a lot of close wins... they didn't blow every team out... and a lot of teams they played were below 500

The SEC isn’t good this year Tennessee is not good but was kept in the rankings to make them look better Kentucky was #20 and received votes after 3 straight losses two of them being blowouts and it was continued to be called a ranked win for Georgia. LSU has lost their best matchups and the only reason they aren’t 7-5 is because they scheduled army and an FCS team. Georgia trailed in as many as 9 games this season. Alabama needed a miracle on 4th and 31 to even be in debate against a barely bowl eligible team but Florida st beats the committee’s #14 team by 10 and gets booted? Let's just say that the better team narrative does not fit the committees past two years including TCU and Cincinnati and that the only reason they decided to invoke that this year is because the SEC was gonna get left out. Underrated storyline though is that both the 1 and 2 seeds didn't get what they wanted. Washington didn't get a Rose Bowl and now has to travel to Louisiana in what will be akin to a Texas home game and Michigan has to face Alabama instead of Florida State.
However, one can say this committee learned from the mistakes. Ad buyers don't want no more blowout games, it's a business first and we saw that Fla. St offense against Louisville and it was bad. Injuries happen, but ain't no way you can have a playoff without SEC

Their non final rankings have always been lazy and shit. There was never a reason to have Oregon over Texas and Bama but they had them there the entire time, even after Texas got the like opponent of Texas Tech.

The only reason the B10 and SEC have "Strong" resumes is the pollsters intentionally ignore head to head vs other P5 conference records. But luckily I'm smart enough to never bet on college football. Who makes the playoffs is always arbitrary and there's always too many bad ref calls that decide point totals

As a Michigan fan Bama terrifies me for a couple reasons but the main reason is this; Michigan has not faced a QB who can scramble like Milroe all year. Michigan has a good facsimile for practice in Orji, whose body type is extremely similar, but that can only take you so far. And of course if you give Saban a month to prepare, that's never good.
I am naturally pessimistic when it comes to Michigan (to the detriment of my blood pressure) but I see Bama winning something like 27-13 or 28-14. Hope I'm wrong.
