- Miltiádis Tentóglou jumps a new World Lead Long Jump…again of 8.41m at Hauts de France Pas de Calais, Liévin - World Indoor Tour 2023.
This was just a day after he was notified that his previous 8.40m world Lead jump from Toruń Poland one week prior would be disqualified because he jumped in shoes that were not approved by world athletics.
He then jumped at this meet on February 15th 2023 wearing a similar shoe or long jump spike that was approved and popped off 4 leaps over 27ft.

It's quite astonishing when you consider what a bad faith disqualification this was. The integrity of World Athletics is seriously being brought to question here. This whole incident just wreaks of corruption. It's the sort of thing you see in movies where the bad guys try to bring down the protagonist by using some absurd, meaningless technicality.
Begs the question of how much do you need to pay the athletics committee to get a shoe approved.

People should have learned by now to not "try" Tentoglou. He is looking for reasons to get motivated.
In Greece we say that from everything bad that happens something good emerges. In this case Miltiades announced that he will put these shoes in auction and he will offer the money to the victims of Turkey's earthquake. This "win" is even better. Well done Milto!!!!!

Miltos is somebody who is more than an extremely talented athlete and Olympic and World champion. He is an icon and an inspiration both as an athlete , as a human being and as a man. He is there for all of us to offer us inspiration and for all of us to enjoy the sport . I wish him a healthy and happy life. And I thank him for everything that he has given us .He is simply the best.
Miltos focuses on what is essential. He had so many problems to finally go for the Olympics that formed his character. Thank you Miltos Tendoglou!

Tentoglou is just another type or case of Sergei Bubka. I am convinced that he can control his jumps to the centimeter and he will perform a long track of records with very small length differences like Bubka did with his jumps. Their difference is that for Sergey was quite easy to ask the people that regulate the bar to place the bar just one centimeter higher from his previous record and then he surpassed it giving everything he got. While for Miltos it's a bit tricky to lower a bit his speed or the angle of his jump but apparently he seems to have mastered it well so far.

Out of transparency the World Athletics should show us the criteria by which they disqualified the SHOES in first place and how the colour of the shoe is important on if an athlete should prefer wearing the pair or not. Rules that came out over wrong shoulder sleep last night should be banned from the world athletics, altogether with the committees that reinforce such rules.

Because there is no doping like there was back then and if you think that everyone can do these jumps then you are clearly delusional, elite athletes can not even jump above 8 meters now and he constantly does that.

What happened to Echevarria? He has jumped over 8.50m 6 times and has two incredible windy jumps of 8.83m and 8.92m , he was the athlete I thought would be able to do something special.... didnt he jump 8.50m in the qualifying of the Olympics which Tentoglou won after injury to others with 8.41m on countback despite Echevarria jumping well over 8.7m in a slight foul before injury?
Tentoglou is a very capable jumper but hes like Rutherford, very consistent 8m+ but never showing any evidence of being able to go near 8.8m
The Olympic long jump final was depressing, the qualifying had far better jumps, the rule about fouling on the board should be removed in major competitions where there is a camera that can accurately tell exactly where the jumper took off from, I wish all jumps would be measured by where the jumper took off from, Id rather it be about the longest jump rather than who can jump nearest to the plasticene.
And there brings about my question: are there any jumps in long jump history that could be retroactively measured to be 8.7m+ jumps by measuring the jump from where the athlete jumped from for example a 8m50 jump that was 20cm behind the board or a 8m90 that was 20cm over the board foul?

Tentoglou is only 24years old so I wouldnt count him out yet. He has jumped 28ft twice and willing jumpers art typically at the prime from 24ish though 29yr old so he’s got a lot more I’d say.
And I 10000% agree that they should measure the ‘true’ distance in major competitions where the technology is available.
And to your last point, I made a video a while back about every 29ft long jump. It includes legal jumps, wind-aided, and foul jumps. It’s pretty interesting.

But that's the sport. You have to jump near the plasticene. There is no point in changing the rules. Of course there will be many jumps over 8.7 if we count them from where the athlete took off but what's the point ? Then we should also count the time from when the athlete left the starting block for running sports. There are rules and you have to play with them
Echevarria who? Tentoglou is the future,he will do amazing things later in his career...
I liked Echevaria he could do amazing jumps and he was the one closer to the world record but he was not as consistent and in my book consistency has more value.
Also his disappearance is kinda sketchy, i know that he is injured for a long time now but Injury has been used before as a cover for doping, i have seen this many times with a lot of athletes.
And don't get me wrong i am not saying that the guy was under any substance, i am just saying that his vanishing is weird.
@@Kwstas_Vagias nearly every athlete is on PEDs some athletes dont know it but their coaches do, I think they are all great even really obvious ones like Marita Koch and SAFP, many PEDs should be legal they prolong an athletes career and help them recover from injury faster and none of the times would change because they all on it right now and have been since the late 50s , Im saying at least 90% of all competitors, and hasnt sport been great because of it 🙂.
the shoe isn't approved because the ambition 2 forefoot is thicker than the heel. since the 1960s all field event spikes cannot have a taller forefoot. basically his staff fucked him over but Tentoglou took to social media to spew a bunch of uninformed nonsense. as a professional athlete you should be doing your due diligence when it comes to rules. many sprint spikes are banned from the jumps for this same reason.
if you wanna go deeper into why the ambition 2 now has a thicker heel, adidas did this on purpose to prevent jumping athletes from wearing the 0mm offset ambition 1's and get unintentionally disqualified due to manufacturing variances. Asics previously had an incident with the Long Jump Pro 2 and Triple Jump Pro 2 where an athlete was disqualified due to manufacturing variance and they ended up doing a recall. The LJ and TJ Pro 3s now have a heel buffer of 2mm and most other brands also do the same or just straight up add a unapologetic heel wedge of foam.

Miltiadis is the most casual unmotivated troll world champion in any other sport i have ever seen... barely even trains that much. Thus, provoking and fill him with motivation is not a good idea. I believe We havent seen his full potential yet but he doesnt care he has to rewatch the whole one piece series all over again.
