I got into Billy Joel from Moving out, and since then, (a few months ago) I have purchased every album except two, of which my friend gave me the cds to rip. Can't find anybody I like as much as Billy Joel, especially considering I love almost every single song. Any other artist, I would pick about 2-4 songs to listen to.
hgpo27 I’d have to agree with you on that one. I just got into Billy’s music around 4 months ago, and there are almost an endless amount of amazing songs within his albums. I just recently revisited the song “The Stranger” which I haven’t heard for years. Billy never disappoints
I've never really explored Billy Joel's music, though I do enjoy what I've heard of it. In my student days a big juke-box favourite for me was We Didn't Start The Fire. I love CD's too, I've been discussing this with people on the VC recently...wondering if, like vinyl, CD's will eventually have their comeback. Cheers, good review.
James Griffiths Hi James, thanks for checking out the video, yeah there's a lot more to Billy than his hits, which have hindered him in many respects and yeah man power to the cd, I keep seeing them at car boots for like 10p, which is a bit harsh!!! It's a great format, I even asked for a beautiful marantz CD player for Christmas, loving it!!! There's a place on my shelf for the vinyl and the cd, I just don't dig the download!

Barry White? Really? I didn't even know he covered Billy. Billy's not crazy about "just the way you are" because it reminds him of his ex wife. He didn't want to put it on the album but Linda Ronstadt changed his mind. Paul McCarthy wished he wrote that song. There is a documentary on UA-cam where he breaks a piano string while recording. The album sounded better that the previous albums because of the band and because of Phil Ramone.
I just listened to Scenes From an Italian Restaurant on UA-cam...very impressive. It reminds me of a lot of things...Elton John, Wings, ELO, maybe even a slight bit of Steely Dan. Very much a New York sound.
Definitely my favorite track from this album. Scenes has got it all. They lyrics. The music. It's a kind of bookends song. The song lyrics return to the first part again at the end albeit with a slight change in the lyrics. It's brilliant. A guy in this Italian joint reminiscing about people he once knew. Telling a story. And quite a good one at that!
Donald Richard I know Richard, classic track, this was my first vid and I think I was a bit nervous. I will have to do a piano vocal cover of this at some stage
again I'm right there with you.. Liberty DeVito is one of my favourite drummer's. I've done some pop/rock gigs and I always try and do a bad impression of Liberty on the kit awesome player. Classic band, great album the 30th anniversary disc is just a little over compressed dynamically as I have an older pressing and is right up there with the vinyl with dynamics. Thumbs up again :-) brilliant videos coming out of this channel
Gage hey Gage, well thanks for taking the time to check it out! I just did a video on going to see Billy at msg in July, if you get chance please check it out. I have also just uploaded my take on summer highland falls

James Griffiths Hi James yeah it's definitely an east coast tune, glad you enjoyed checking it out🤓
