I’m the actor who plays Weaver in Days Gone. Thanks for your analysis. Always hurt that this game never got the reception it deserved. It’s not perfect, but it’s a really great game that the writer/director, actors and devs really worked hard on and cared about.
Wow. Thank you so much for writing me a message! I feel like I've got a superstar messaging me haha. Personally I loved the game and feel like it's a crime that it wasn't acknowledged more widely. Hope my review did justice from you're point of view
I'd never heard of it as I hadn't had a console for a while. I got a gaming PC recently and gave it a go. WOW! Just amazing. I've just finished the last horde and now just cruising about exploring and having a few fights with freakers. The landscape detail is just stunning. Thanks for your part in this amazing game!
I’ve been pushing this so hard on my friends who recently got PS5s, shit it’s free if you have ps+. Definitely worth playing today with all the updates.
Easily in my top 5 games of all time. The only game I've ever played all the way through three times back to back to back... bumping the difficulty level each time. I enjoyed the story and voice acting so much that I didn't start skipping cut scenes until the third play through. Anyone who enjoys single player, story driven games needs to play this game.
@@costenics_swI always thought that the ripper battle music with the metal clash and drums was so sick. Felt like and actual battle and not an easy play action scene.
I never understood why this wasn’t a bigger hit than it was. Its seriously one of my favourite games from the last five years. The only fault of the devs. is that it could have been even deeper when it comes to survivalist crafting. I.e. foraging for food and herbs when out of modern first aid gear and such. The controls are *very* good in this game, much better than several big name FPS-games.
Crafting some weapons or healing items in this game are okay. But I agree with another aspect about doing survival. If only they make the player can feels hungry/thirsty, getting tired, or upgrading your shelters just like in State Of Decay, it would be awesome. I'm only hope someday, they make the sequel and working on these things.
You need to have played it from release to understand the hate it got. This game was fucking god awful at release, it was like cyberpunk on a smaller scale it was truly bad. The devs fixed the game though and I like it now, but I def wouldn’t consider it as high as the comment section does now
@@Chadius_Thundercock I did play it when it was recently new, on PS4. Are you talking about the PS4 release or the PC port? I'm not saying that you are wrong though, I might very well have missed any problems since I did miss the first months on PS4 :)
I think it is a good game overall, but I do think the execution could have been much better. I found the riding handling and responsiveness clunky. I found the shooting controls to be on the weaker side. I found the story rushed (especially at the outset). That said, for the genre, it is the best there is to date.
One of my favorite games I totally wasn’t expecting. Never heard a thing about this game until I happened across it on steam. I love the motorcycle mechanics, gunplay, enemies, characters, story.. maybe it had some bugs, but the overall experience was incredible. It starts off a little slow l, and I have a feeling that’s what turned off some folks to it.
The fact that people exist who think the gun play is good boggles the mind. The game only did the bike well. Literally everything else was bad. The enemies were unbalanced and had bad AI. the story was horrible. Rivals tlou2 in bad story. It’s characters only existed for plot convenience or to force tutorials and every aspect of the gameplay is designed to make you waste resources and make you buy more. Like every mission makes you waste all your bullets or just forced you to use up all your scrap. It’s shit design.
I can relate to this comment. I had no idea what to expect from the game since I bought it blind. It turned into one of my favorite games of all times. I even hated the main character for many hours of gameplay thinking he was a snoddy Brendan Frasier from the Mummy, lol. At least reminded me of him. Yet when the story takes a turn, you can't help but feel for him and what's going on. Epic ending.
I’m not gonna lie, how slow it started off turned me off for the last 2 years. I’m just now getting back into it and I regret not playing it sooner. This game is fantastic! Absolutely love it.
I just finished the game today. Arguably one of the best I've played in many years. Great story, memorable characters, and anxiety inducing hordes! It's a shame they won't get a sequel. This is a product worthy of a buy.
Still one of my favorite games. I’ve already played through it 4 times and itching for a 5th in due time. It is a huge mistake to not give it a sequel. The fact that AC Valhalla scored higher than this game either proves that Ubisoft has critics in their pocket or the critics don’t actually like video games.
Zero punctuation took a giant dump on this game on release and his reviews get lots of views. If you ever watch him stream though the man couldnt hit the broad side of a barn if his life depended on it.
Woah woah woah! Why the unwarranted Valhalla hate? I mean I guess it’s one person’s opinion but my opinion is AC Valhalla slaps and shouldn’t be compared to this game
@@joshuagray3065 Because Valhalla is not good. The story is boring, the gameplay and forced grinding are boring. The graphics are fine, but when compared to other open world games like Days Gone, RDR2 or even AC Origins it’s just not good. I still can’t bring myself to finish the main story as I am constantly bored when playing it and end up exploring for a bit then turn it off.
@@J.F.331 fair enough, I can agree with those points and honestly don’t care for the length of the game because who has the time? I think maybe I’m blinded by the fact I haven’t cared for an assassins creed since black flag. I mean odyssey I believe I actually finished but even still it was way too long and way too big of a game filled with filler missions. I guess I’m biased because I really like the Viking/Norse theme and the main character is a badass
The only open world game I’ve ever played that I’ve actually felt like I can be attacked or killed at any moment. Anxiety at max 😂 driving around and randomly realising you’ve stumbled into a wondering horde and that you can’t turn around quick enough is a memory that I won’t forget. I died trying to escape btw 😂
Playing this game right now and loving it. Would love to see a sequel... It serves as a great starting point for a strong new IP. Kudos to all the actors and devs that made this project a reality. It is totally worth it.
@Vancha112 yeah but it wouldn't stop another studio from working on it. I'm assuming Sony owns all the rights to it and if they want another Crack at it they could
I got Days Gone pretty cheap roughly a year after release. Thoroughly enjoyed it and even platinumed it, which is something I don't usually have the patience to do unless a game can hold my attention. I was blown away when I first saw a zombie horde and thought there's no way I'll ever be able to tackle one. By the end of the game I was slaying them (but it's always quite challenging). Very underrated game and I wouldn't be upset if I'd paid full price for it. The game must be peanuts now and I'd highly recommend to anyone who hasn't played it yet.
Although repetitive at times (Mostly with side quests), this was such an enjoyable experience for somebody who always seems to get bored midway through most campaigns of most games. I'd recommend this game to anybody who wants to get lost for a couple of hours. I'm hoping for a part 2, I've signed the petition and I'd happily pay full AAA price for that.
What game isnt repetitive. Call of duties, destinys. All the same tyoe of game that sell over and over along with sports. This game did a great job with story. Game play that requires you to hunt for supplies and had to be quiet around zombies and had hordes like the walking dead. Game is amazing
How the fuck does this game somehow escape being one of those games you quit mid way. It’s the epitome of a game so mediocre with a story so bad that it makes you want to stop playing a few hours in.
@@esketit1707 it doesn’t. It’s gameplay was so average it hurts and it’s story sucks dogshit. None of the characters were interesting either. It didn’t deserve a second title.
I only started playing days gone about 3 weeks ago and I’ve finished the story and I’m working on 100%ing the game, I love the gameplay loop and thought that the story, though a bit cheesy at points was really enjoyable. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for great visuals, intense combat, smooth driving as well as great voice acting.
@@jesseomollo9405 I don’t think that the whole story was cheesy, parts of it just felt a bit cliche and ham fisted, for example first meeting Sarah again deacons reaction feels a little underwhelming and not what I expected from the character. As well as this , regardless I still really enjoyed the story and felt immersed. I wasn’t trying to knock the story I just think it had some low points.

@@theosnowling8882 the story is mainly about the friendship, love and the chemistry between the 3 main characters, everything else is just a stage (a good one for sure). Yes, the story is nothing special, but the acting and music made it real enough for me to feel good/bad for them. But for me the story took a nosedive with the whole south part of the map. It feels like a filler, especially with the way how Lost Lake just deals with the army on it's own by the time you return in a hurry. Also yeah, how they react to each other on their first met was really disappointing, considering Deacon searches for Sarah throughout the whole past 30-40 hours of the game. The whole army camp part of the story just feels bad television scripting for me. The return to Cloverdale part was enjoyable, though I was expecting that connection between Sarah and the virus, they dropped many small hints for this. I'm really glad they've given some romance time for them after this part. The under-credits scene where they ride peacefully on the bikes was also a bit disappointing, considering that everything tells you: the infection and the danger level of the zombies gets worse with time. For me the "secret ending" with O'Brien should've been revealed before or during the default ending of the game, even though it's a cliffhanger we might never get a resolution for, considering how Sony is dealing with Days Gone. All things considered it's an awesome game though with a very immersive world. And i just don't get the hatred.
@@theosnowling8882 I felt like Sarahs reaction to seeing Deacon again was laughable. Like she didn’t look shocked or anything. I get that she had to pretend to not know him but at least make it look like she was a little shocked she saw someone come back to life lol
The other thing I would mention is that this game does take a couple hours to get going. The Completionist said it best “Those who play this game through will have a VERY different experience than those who only play for a few hours and put the game down”
Very true. I struggled at the beginning, wasn't getting into it, walked away for a month. Now it's one of my favourite games. I often restart it from the mountain hideout to feel that struggle/terror with shit weapons and angry freakers and no bike
I think the game is massively under rated. The voice talent was awesome. The game play spot on. I love the slow burn story. I love the terrifying hordes. I love that I panic. I am 51 and have been playing games since the very beginning. Days gone ranks along side Witcher 3 in my game I return too often as I am always sad when I finish a run through.
I got this a few months after launch, and was BLOWN away. I was expecting it to be okay and I nearly platinumed it in a few weeks. Great characters, a little buggy, and the zombies were actually scary and had me second guessing myself if I wanted to play at night. Highly recommend
After the initial 5 hours of gameplay this became one of my all time favorite games. The story became increasingly richer. Wonderful game. I only wish for a sequel.
@@malazan6004 fully agree. It has a pretty slow start and the initial cut scenes are a bit on the boring side. But once you reach a certain point in the early game the story gets better and better. A pity that we won‘t see a sequel.
@@babyyyz7948 If the Game Director hadn't (BMC) #!tch,Moan, and Complain about Buying the game full price. We've could've gotten a Sequel for Days gone.
yeah this game was so under rated and reviews totally did it dirty and after playing it all the way through I was so stoked for the prospect of a second one and was a little crushed when they announced there wouldn't be a second one. Ghost of tusima was a beautiful game visually but overall it felt like an assasins creed game and not very original but somehow got all the praise and given a second game even though by the end of the first game the story is over and as a player I was done by the end but days gone felt like it was only just beginning by the end and definitely deserved a sequel
I bought this game on steam 3 weeks ago and it's honestly a joy to play. Since Elden Ring, i never got a game that hooked me as much as this one. The Story is indeed very wholesome, with a lot of spice and very well designed characters and personalities on those characters. The gameplay is not repetitive at all, the encounters are almost always surprising. I really hope they will reconsider the sequel.
Absolutely love this game and would love a sequel. The atmosphere is amazing. Acting is tremendous. Loved everything about it. Why was this game not more recognised. Great game please make a sequel. How can we make it happen. Amazing game
sadly wont happen.. was already confirmed that they wont make another one because too many people bought it in sale which let the makers believe it was not worth its full price.
I wish I could hear the acting, it's SO QUIET and weirdly integrated, the main character is unintelligible half the time just mumbling to himself. Is it not the same on your rig? Hopefully something is just wrong with mine
@@shane864 it was perfect for me tbh. Try messing with your sound settings in and out of the game. That happened me on an uncharted and I messed with the settings. Ie dolby dts or something like that.
I played this game for the first time a year after it released and it’s my favourite single player game I’ve ever played, I started playing it again a few days ago and it’s just as good as I remembered, it’s so peaceful yet manic at the same time and has the most perfect balance, looking past the bugs and glitches, days gone for me is a perfect game
Same here. I played it a year after launch because of the glitches and bugs people were saying it had so I bought it after a year later. When I did play it I fell in love with the game and story!
Reviewers did this game dirty, I don't recall where I read it but something like a majority of the reviewers never played the game past like the 5 hour mark making a judgement on the entire experience based on that. The story starts out very slow because Deacon doesn't really having any direction or drive he's just making the best of surviving, its a fair criticism that the game starts off slow but it gets so much better and deeper in both gameplay and story.
@@mcltim yeah and with wizard island you also unlock the napalm jar and a bunch of new weapons that makes you feel a lot more confident roaming around and taking out big hordes
It’s very underrated, I mean the frame rate was atrocious when first released but was better after a patch apart from that I’d enjoyed the story but especially the hordes. I love taking on those hordes def one of the best in the way they designed them. This game is SOO underrated, so sad there won’t be a sequel but at least they are working on a new ip with these mechanics implemented
What an excellent review of an excellent game. Well done on your analysis of Days Gone. You managed to summarise most of the key elements that help make this one heck of an experience. This has to be the best open world survival zombie game I've ever played. Nice gameplay also. I'm enjoying it more now on PC than when it first dropped on PS4. The feeling of riding your bike through the bush and on the open world is an awesome experience. The fact that you never know what you may encounter is epic. You may pull up and enjoy the scenery, then a couple of wolves launch at you or a bear. They there's the human enemies that don't miss a shot with their snipers. The stealth element has been done so well. What Days Gone combines into one game hasn't been matched by any other game. The story is really good and the characters are believable. Then there's the extra modes added just for fun. This game has it all. So sad that we may not see a part 2. The replayabliity of this game is there also. Open world survival...Zombies, Human AI, Animals and then some. Buy this game. You won't be disappointed. It's a 9.5 for me. If it had Co Op, it would be a 10. Gave you a sub. Keep 'em coming. Cheers from Australia.
I loved this game, bought it at launch. I’m happy to see some appreciation for this underrated game. For anyone out there with a PS5, it runs silky smooth and it was a joy to revisit Days Gone after getting one.
What an amazing game this is. I didn’t want the game to end. The gameplay was fun, the graphics are amazing, and the story is captivating and full of so many details I was hoping for, but didn’t expect. Really was hoping on a sequel or at least another game similar.
Days Gone is a underrated gem, such a fun game, the story was surprisingly deep, Deacon was a really well defined, likable character, the gameplay, riding around on your motorcycle, the horde mechanics, one of my personal favorite open world games of the last console generation
The reason why this game is so good is because of the story, it's not about the gameplay, mechanics, UI etc... It's the story and the characters the pure emotion throughout the whole campaign. I truly fell in love with the chracter Deacon St John. What an amazing game
3 YEARS? Damn, time has gone by. I really hope the developers come back to this story, it has a lot of potential. I remember in the course of the story, O'Brian implying that were even more bizarre variations of infected out there.
After his comment I ran into maybe one evolved freaker that was really quick and kept body slamming me...pain in the ass it was...but most people will probably finish the game never encountering that thing(ran into it only twice so wonder what else I haven't seen)
@@mdiaz013184 Reacher? You fight it in the course of a main story, after that it appears out in the world. At that point you're killing hordes, Freakers are no longer a problem.
Loved this game. Still play the campaign when between games as it’s long. It’s a shame there’s not going to be a sequel because I think it’d be really good.
I think a sequel could eventually happen, they said it got cancelled but because it’s slowly gaining a cult following PlayStation could greenlight a sequel, it had good sales after allc
Finished the game last night. I get the feeling that most reviews didn't play past the ten hour mark. I certainly didn't on my first play and put the game down. But I always knew I would go back and I'm glad I did. The story and characters were great! Nothing groundbreaking but the game had a lot of heart and that resonated with me. The Horde and the scenarios you end up in when they are around are brilliant! Really do hope the game has hope of a sequel, I would definitely purchase a sequel
@@dahharo3565 I wouldn’t say so. I didn’t mean to suggest the first ten weren’t enjoyable. The game just gets a lot better the further in you go. That approach not for everyone. I couldn’t do it in Death Stranding for example.
I started on it for the first time a few weeks ago and I can't get enough. A massively under-rated game and a pure game to play. You are right: unless you are in camp, from the minute you head through those gates and into the wastelands ... your butt is puckering the entire time. The sound is the best I've encountered in a long time, from his footfalls, to shells hitting metal under your feet, to the creepy night sounds. The zombies movement and animations are constantly creepy, and there are some genuine "BUT I DON'T WANNA!" scary moments and locations. I NEVER go into a tunnel or cave without expecting the worst. Lovely graphics, especially I thought the snow when it starts coming down and layer sitself softly on everything ... including your own clothes and shoulders etc. I love this game a huge amount.
Played this game now for about a year with breaks in-between and finished it today. What a ride, literally. It was a little repetitive at times but the graphics on the PS5, no glitch whatsoever and the characters... Let alone destroying hords of zombies. This game is like the Witcher 3 but with bikes and zombies. Top entertainment 👌 loved it ❤️
Absolutely love Days Gone! Great video, man. You covered all the points that made this game a one-of-a-kind experience. It truly is a an underrated masterpiece...
I am a PC gamer so this title flew completely under the radar for me. I picked up a Xbox Game pass Sub, And Found a game called State of Decay 2. I've always been a zombie Apocalypse fan. So When This little gem went on sale for like 60% off I picked it up because "It's a zombie Game" I'm only like 10 hours in, And this game is Brilliant! At least for somebody like me who is a fan of the genre.
I managed to slog through the game. Bought it when it released on PC and For me. I loved the story. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have personally been to many of the places shown here in the game. Including Crater Lake. There’s always a sense of nostalgia when a place you’ve been too and then play it in a video game.
This game is a hidden gem. Absolute masterpiece in the genre and one of the games I've been the heaviest invested into! I love it! Downloading it to play again as I write this. Thank you, Bend Studio, for making this game.
I liked days gone. Yes clearing out those dang encampments and freaker nest did seem a bit repetitive but that didn’t make me dislike the game. I actually liked the story too. One thing I will say is It seemed to have taken components from other major games like red dead and the last of us but still worth playing. It is unique
I played this amazing game over 4 times it's a great escape from reality and although at the time there was a large amount of zombie games this game made it apparent that they we're not The undead which I thought gave it a grand adaptive look on how they went in depth on how the freakiers adapted over time was and in part relatable to how insane I feel sometimes but being able to blow them up and discover how they tick , calmed me in my every day life not to mention the main point of the game ( beaten down biker's using half just morals to fight and protect the last remains of American civilization) was the key part that brought me back every time.👌🏽what I'd love to see is a sequel set in the waste lands of England separate characters separate storyline same premise and fictional universe 🇬🇧 British biker's and settlements old British army that may not be as strong but their tactics would be bloody brilliant supported by farm workers "can't get nothing done with out a beer boss"😅 , British "road men" ex drug dealers bent on speed ,style and protecting there loved one's ," Irish travelers" risk reward and a hole lot of guns , finally local shop workers and small businesses owners defending small towns and keep the peace all though food and supplies was plentiful but now raiders ransacked the joint's and have struggled to build sustainable electricity and grown food . ANYWAY that's a couple of my ideas they have no serious meaning I just thought they'd make a cool game oh and it needs more bike mods 😅🖖🏽🤘🏽🤜🏽🤜🏽♥️✌🏽
There's is no other game in my opinion that can capture the feeling of "OH God I can't believe I got out of that" than Days Gone. Driving away from the hoard with little gas on the hardest difficulty is scary and reliving because you never know when you'll get lucky getting out of that situation again. It's like the scene from 28 weeks later when the dad got away with the boat.
That literally happened to me about 30 minutes ago. Still not sure how I escaped that horde, I was down to almost zero health, running for my life and somehow made it back to my bike and got away. Man that was close.
One of my favorite games ever. I loved it. I wanted the sequel so badly. The game had bugs but were mostly fixed with the first couple of days. The only issue i had on based PS4 console was a some frame rate drops in some ares when riding on your motorcycle. Never hard frame rate issues while in combat nor in large horde chance sequences with explosions.
Just got it and this is one of the smoothest games ive ever played. The great performance and quality of animation make the gameplay feel so fluid and natural
I've been playing on easy mode and have thoroughly enjoyed the whole game! There's a few things I wish they had improved on, but if I was to score it I'd give a 9/10. The story is engaging. The game play fun and always something going on. I have died many times. I really wish there was a coop mode especially in the challenge mode. Hopefully they'll change their minds about a sequel!
Definitely overlooked and under appreciated! I went based on the reviews and there were so many bad ones I was upset about it and never bought it, in fact really let down. Years later I got bored and saw it was on sale. Now after actually playing it, I’m more upset with myself for listening to those reviews and not getting this game sooner and forming my own view of the game, and found out there are more people having the same feelings as me. I love this game so much, and I’m very impressed with how lost I get in this world. It feels so immersive, especially when the wind and rain is blowing so hard and it’s night time, I’m in my zone taking out scattered enemies as I look for the much needed supplies when running low. Things can go wrong at any time and that makes this extremely fun. I learned a valuable lesson. I will not let reviews change my mind about a game I feel is going to be great. This is one of my all time favorites.
I really LOVE Days Gone! I got into it like half a year after release if I remember correctly, because I couldn't afford it at first. And I instantly loved it! I rarely encountered any bugs. Still playing it a lot to this day.
A great video, for an awesome game. Thank you I think the technical issues at launch hurt the most. 71/100. This visceral and heartfelt experience (very solid characters) deserves at least a 80 imo I have finished it 2 or 3 more times after the platinum trophy (bought it day one on base ps4), including one amazing run in survival 2 on ps5. I highly recommend it. What a splendid immersive and challenging experience
This one was one of my all time favorites on PlayStation. As far as zombie games go it simply doesn’t get a whole lot better than this. Plus, Sam Witwer 😍
I actually enjoyed this game a great deal. I've played through multiple times. I like the desolation. I like the story build out, and I like the ability to improve my characters capabilities over time.
One of my favorite games of all time, with that being said I am a big Zelda and Red Dead fan as well but DAYS GONE took the cake. I know to each their own, but this game is my favorite. I am currently on my 13th play through. It sucks that Sony won't take its attention away from LOU and is also probably saying "there can be only one zombie game". Am I business savvy...no, so I do not know what it takes to produce a game like this but I do know it is the FANS that keep you in business. I say it jokingly but I am not joking, if I were ever to win the big lottery, I would make a big donation to get this sequel going.
It takes a good while to get use to the mechanics and how everything is laid out and used. I remember not liking at first but after about 2-4 hours of gameplay it becomes pretty fun!
I actually loved this game when it came out. It will forever hold a place in my heart. I bought it when I came down with mono and literally played the game the entire time I was sick.
Very rarely do I comment. That being said, amazing review. Excellent style, quality, and professional. Keep it up! I'll now get this with the summer sale :).
I got this game as a free game with my PS+ subscription and I would have gladly paid full price for it. It’s a great game with a good story. The combination of stealth, strategy, combat and melee is great and you can really develop your own style. The graphics are stunning and there’s some very good character development. I’d 100% recommend it.
I loved this game so much, so much emotions you can experience and fun af, the only jumpscare in the game is the kid in the trunk right at the beginning, that shit almost killed me cause I wasnt expecting it at all
I loved Days Gone!! One of my favourite PS4 games. I am currently replaying it on PS5 and I’m loving it even more running at 60fps. This game deserved so much more. And it certainly deserves a sequel.
Just finished the game on my PS4 PRO. And I must admit I had a blast. This is the Open World Zombie game that I wanted always to play. Had so much fun. Dont known why lots of gamers did't like it.
The story was bad. I mean, okay, bad might be a bit much, but it wasn't good. Some decisions by the writers were... questionable at best, lets say. I was frustrated by it throughout, but gameplay got me going. Plus, it has some severe stuttering on the bike, if you're unlucky, and riding it is easily the highlight of the game, so that's not great. (PC)
@@damiannohka1270 Maybe get a better attitude. 70 hrs here, to date. There's a problem with optimization on the PC port that occurs when riding a bike which is known to the devs for a few years now, and - unsurprisingly - even though it was acknowledged by them, it was never properly fixed. My PC isn't an issue. It's pretty beastly and far, far exceeds recommended hardware requirements. I play on the highest settings in 3440x1440 (didn't try it in 4K yet since the TV is in another room) and it's smooth when off the bike, but micro (and not so micro) stutters occur on the bike. I'd enable 144Hz, but that makes the stuttering on the bike way worse than on 60Hz. Some fixed it by playing with audio settings or at least reduced it, like me, with capping at 60fps, but it's still a problem. Other games can go up to 144 fps and no microstutter like that occurs, so... yeah. But thanks for a great advice, totally appreciate the deep thought and huge effort put into your comment.
@@tomaszwota1465 Yeah there were frame rate issues, and before the update the game crashes, but I wouldn't call the story bad, I'd say some parts of it were a bit cheesy, corny and out of place. There were also repetitive missions but I still had fun. But in no way I'd say its bad, personally I felt the story was pretty decent at best. But that's just me.
@@gelothegogang I didn't mind the repetitive missions all that much. I enjoyed clearing marauder camps, fighting the hordes and uncovering NERO stuff. The main story itself though was... serviceable at best, lets say. I don't mind the general idea, but the writing when it comes to details... I rolled my eyes entirely too many times. A lot of the stuff that happens feels forced and occasionally doesn't make a lick of sense. It takes its time so much so that I actually had to make a push to get to the end, yet it still manages to feel like it was rushed in a few places.
Easily top 3 games I ever played. I went through my first playthrough in survival 1 difficulty, going through any tunnel in the early step of the game was terrifying. Go slow and freaks will jump on you, go fast and risk crashing your bike. Upping the difficulty was the best possible decision, it really helped with the horror and survival aspects of the game
@@Dazai_200I hope you played it. I absolutely loved GOT. It’s such a beautiful game, and being a tatana wielding samurai is just awesome. I played it, did the DLC , then played through again. For those who are not as sure as I was
I actually thought I always hated 3rd person games, but since getting a ps5 and after playing this and horizon zero dawn, I think I just hated 3rd person games running at 30fps, the 60 fps really makes a difference for these types of games, 30 frames is really unplayable. Now days gone and horizon, I think are up there in best games Ive ever played, when before I would have tried to play for an hour and been like, this is trash and never played it again.

The game is amazing aside from dumb minor annoyances like the fact that deacon can’t run through a few inches of water…..and the annoying rag doll effects when on your bike or crashing
Most certainly worth playing. Beautiful looking, excellent controls and combat, decent story, characters and excellent performances especially from Sam Witwer who gave a very memorable performance and most importantly fun gameplay. Shame there won't be a sequel. If you have already finished it, I highly recommend playing it on Survival or Survival II difficulty setting (the ones without fast travel).
Just finished it. Superb game A+ creation in it current state. In my opinion on par with LOU 1+2 while offering a very different take on the genre and an open world that is very immersive and simply a lot of fun to play. The game is worth it to even jut to experience the rage of a 200+ strong ravenous Horde baring down on you. Got into if you’re on the fence.
This was the first game I played on PS4, so it definitely has a special place in my heart. I easily put 80 hours into it. I feel like people where overly harsh on this game for no other reason than reviews where bad so people just joined in without giving it a proper chance. It’s a beautiful looking, fun and emotional game and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
I just finished it with all the hordes done. I have to say one of the best zombie games ive ever played , lore is awesome story is ok but the horde and freakers are too good. I dont really care what people like ign have to say when it comes to games, this game is such a masterpiece entertainment.
I just got this on the steam Christmas sale they had and I’m loving it so far. I just made it to Iron Mikes camp and so far the whole story has been amazing. It really gets to you like a favorite tv show or something. You wanna binge the shit out of it to find out what happens next 😂😂😂
This game is amazing. Played through twice. My PlayStation account logged me at 149 hours last year. If they don’t make a days gone 2 I’m gonna have to fight somebody.
ahah and i was thinking that im crazy with 83 hours but yes, i spent at least 25 hours after the game ending just to play around with hordes dumping loads of ammo and bombs that i farmed earlier in the story ahah so much fun
1. Upgrade your fuel tank. Fuel goes quick at the beginning. Your bike is your best friend. 2. Make the metal saw blade bat. The saw blade and bat are both at construction site at the bottom of O’Leary mountain. 3. First 2 skills should be the repair skill for your melee weapon. Then the chain combo skill. After your bike this melee weapon will be your best friend.
Just finished the game. It was great. Fun to play. The skills you gained were great. The story could have gone a little more mature. Like deakon hooking up with Rikki or something the wife finding angle did not seem enough. It felt like they had been married for a year before the shti went down and there was little chemistroy between them to be honest.
I've been playing Days Gone for a week now 15 hours in the game and don't understand why it ever got these bad reviews? I'm kinda mad at myself I didn't play this sooner. So I just did a search on UA-cam and found your video. What you are saying is exactly what I thing about this game. It's a damn shame this game didn't get the recognition it deserved.
Do not understand the bad reviews, im 17 hours in and its by far my favourite PlayStation exclusive so far. The bad reviews turned people away but now people are checking it out and realising this is a misunderstood masterpiece
I remember seeing the E3 trailer way back in the day and getting hyped for this. Then it was like it just disappeared. To be fair I’m not the biggest gamer. But a couple months ago I just randomly saw it on Amazon and got it. Definitely glad I did as it is easily one of my favorite all time games and I will continue to play it for years to come.
I started playing it and am really into it. The horde battles are good though wish their was more like the lumber mill horde. They should have come out with dlc where you have separate areas with large hordes and more environmental attacks to fight freakers
Good to see you back buddy. I can't stand IGN. Because they will give games like Call of Duty a perfect score. DAYS GONE was one of those games I loved. The world and story
xactly...IGN had some bitch that didnt even play games truly...& was angry that the main story revolved around a man lol...& said that everywhere you traveled had to be done by motorcycle lol...she also sucked at shooting...so yeah that did help sink this games launch sadly...I was one of those idiots that didnt buy the game at launch because i was fooled...But i am so glad i paid for it now...& have put over 500 hours easy lol.
My biggest complaint is weirdly enough the map mechanic. WHY WOULD YOU LEAD ME STRAIGHT INTO DANGER. Like lead close enough to get of your bike but don’t have me drive right into danger.
one of the best games I ever played ... from storyline and actions. I have played it now 3 times from beginning to end. Didn't even hear about when it first came out, but a friend told me about in 2020. It was a sleeper, and I am glad I found it.
First of all: great review, well put together without spoiling the game. I started playing the game for the very first time last week on my PS5 and fully support your analysis. I like the gameplay and the story and really love how the open world looks and is designed. I don‘t understand why some reviews described the open world as boring and uninspiring. I have to admit that getting resources and playing some of the side missions can get a little bit repetitive but then again, that’s part of living in an apocalyptic world and doesn’t bother me. What I really enjoy is applying different tactics whenever I stumble on a horde like you showcased in the video. Overall a very satisfying and enjoyable game.
I played the game on Hard and found it pretty challenging for the first few hours with limited supplies and little upgrades but near the end of the game fighting Hordes and enemies was so enjoyable … Coming across Hordes early game was pretty exciting/nervous for myself.. I would actually lower my own breathing and tried to make little to no noise without me even realising .. I think a major turn off for newer players is that your bike can’t go 5mins without running out of gas or needing to find some .. (After upgrades it’s not much of a frustration) For me it’s an easy 9/10… I’ve come across one bad glitch so far but I started playing in 2021..
Probably the best game I've played this year. The best way to play it is on PS5 to have a stutter free experience. Even on a Powerful PC there can be some stutter while riding the bike. Anyway it's a great game, such a shame there won't be a sequel
@@rinzler8272 ahah i played the game with a 1070 till unlocking wizard island than my 3080 arrived and boom it was soo smooth with all settings at max and a bunch of mods it tuned out wonderfoul
It's a surprisingly good game! Bought it on the Steam Playstation sale and don't regret it. Easily one of my favourite games, can't believe I passed up on it. The PC version is great, 100+fps on my rig and whilst it's not the best looking game, it still does look incredibly gorgeous, even at 1080p on my RTX 3060ti.
I loved the game in its entirety. I was going through a difficult and dark time in my life and it was suprisingly theraputic. I'd say its very under-rated.
Yea I cancelled my pre order after the reviews but saw a video by skill up defending it a month or two after release which led to me picking it up. So glad I did! This game was amazing and much better than TLoU2. I'd take a Days Gone 2 over TLoU3 any day!
@@melaniecollins8328 Yea to go from the work of art that was the first game to the depressing Abbyfest that was the second game was just painful. If there is a third game and Abby and Ellie are the main characters, I won't be picking it up. Only interest at this point in the franchise is the Online Live Service rumor.
IGN? Metacritic? You are going to the wrong places for your reviews. Days Gone is an excellent game, I have played through it twice now, once on PS4 Pro and once on PS5. I tend to try any game that seems interesting to me, even without any reviews. Sometimes I get burnt, Immortal Unchained I am looking at you, and sometimes it turns out to be something I really like, like The Surge.
after i played this game for 3 hours on steam 3 weeks ago now I spent 53 hours and still haven't finished the story yet it's just the map operatives are fun to finish as well it makes moving on the map easy than rather to deal with zombies and gangs every time :D
The fact that critics shit all over this great game yet gave glowing reviews to a boring "game" like The Last of Us 2 which wants to be a movie more than it does a game is why I cannot trust professional critics these days.
I bought the game last week and I haven't had this fun while playing a game in many years. The game is amazing!!

@@seriously6644 Yes but personally I adored the touching soundtrack

@@stephanusandi9098 Entirely agree :)
It’s shit design.
there straight up bugged mission that deloads the map and mission area, that been know since the game came out
I can relate to this comment.

Haven't played the game yet , but I agree AC Valhalla was dogshit
@@J.F.331 fair enough, I can agree with those points and honestly don’t care for the length of the game because who has the time? I think maybe I’m blinded by the fact I haven’t cared for an assassins creed since black flag. I got Days Gone pretty cheap roughly a year after release. Thoroughly enjoyed it and even platinumed it, which is something I don't usually have the patience to do unless a game can hold my attention. wheres the petition???
What game isnt repetitive. Call of duties, destinys. All the same tyoe of game that sell over and over along with sports. This game did a great job with story. Game play that requires you to hunt for supplies and had to be quiet around zombies and had hordes like the walking dead. Game is amazing
Could you link it because I will sign it this is one of the few games that actually deserves a 2nd one

I would recommend this game to anyone looking for great visuals, intense combat, smooth driving as well as great voice acting.
How was the story cheese?
Great voice acting?…..
@@theosnowling8882 I felt like Sarahs reaction to seeing Deacon again was laughable. Like she didn’t look shocked or anything. I get that she had to pretend to not know him but at least make it look like she was a little shocked she saw someone come back to life lol

The story starts out very slow because Deacon doesn't really having any direction or drive he's just making the best of surviving, its a fair criticism that the game starts off slow but it gets so much better and deeper in both gameplay and story.

You mean… Days have gone by?
Loved this game. Still play the campaign when between games as it’s long. It’s a shame there’s not going to be a sequel because I think it’d be really good.
agreed
Am I supposed to play 10 hours for game to be fun ???
Top entertainment 👌 loved it ❤️
I am playing it on PC now for the first time man and have a blast with it. Underrated game.
Absolutely love Days Gone! Great video, man. You covered all the points that made this game a one-of-a-kind experience. It truly is a an underrated masterpiece...
I’m playing it on pc with a few mods, not game changing mods just clothing and weather changes and it’s a brilliant game
Do those zombies respawn?
Its a triple A game that was released recently.
You have no clue whats the meaning of "hidden gem"
bro has never played the last of us or State of Decay
I liked days gone. Yes clearing out those dang encampments and freaker nest did seem a bit repetitive but that didn’t make me dislike the game. I actually liked the story too. One thing I will say is It seemed to have taken components from other major games like red dead and the last of us but still worth playing. It is unique
It is not unique lmao it’s state of decay with a storyline
I picked it up for the firs time on steam and oh my, the story, voice acting, and dialog is definitely Something haha
If you just got then your in for a good story
Sony produces games are the best. Try Detroit : Become Human as well, fantastic story one of the best games I EVER played.
This is an incredible game. I just started playing it and I can’t get enough
You're in for a great game, my friend! How has it gone for you? Completed it yet?
Ew
Played this for the first time in Dec 21 on the Pro and was blown away by the gameplay and graphics, well worth a replay on PS5
A great video, for an awesome game. Thank you
I think the technical issues at launch hurt the most. 71/100. This visceral and heartfelt experience (very solid characters) deserves at least a 80 imo
I have finished it 2 or 3 more times after the platinum trophy (bought it day one on base ps4), including one amazing run in survival 2 on ps5.
I have played it through 4 times and about to start the 5th cant get enough of this game. Very underrated game!!!
@@xfazex1741 it was last year sometime, I can’t remember when.
I got the Platinum trophy on PS4, it's one of my favorite PS4 titles!
Playing the game now and absolutely loving it, they lied to us so hard back then
Just finished the game on my PS4 PRO.
(PC)
@@tomaszwota1465 played 40 hours n had no “bike stuttering” get a better pc
Is the game worth it I really liked ghost of tsushima I m really doubtful in this game many are telling the game is slow at first
@@Dazai_200I hope you played it. I absolutely loved GOT. It’s such a beautiful game, and being a tatana wielding samurai is just awesome. I played it, did the DLC , then played through again.
But. . . I really love Days Gone. I didn’t mind the story was slow burn. I spend about 100 hours on each play through , and when I finish I’m sad it’s not 200.
@@safetybeachlife yep I finished days gone too it's too good these reviewers are telling the game is not so good but in reality it's a solid 9/10 best zombie game other than resident evil
I started playing the game this week for the first time, I usually play games at first person, I have never liked third person games, even if they are the best, this game changed my approach to third person games, the game is amazing, the story, the action, makes you love The actor and some other fascinating characters, the graphics are amazing , it is highly recommended to play!
@@brandonmclean58 I play on the computer, with faster image speed per second, but I also played before in ps4 pro , after switching to the computer I discovered a different world !
I heard that the ps5 is amazing, however if you're in the business of picture speed and all that, a computer is the only solution bro
Highly under rated game in my opinion. Simple, yet very satisfying addicting game play. Only thing i wish to see is more gun options and upgrades
Leaving a comment to support the channel.
I loved this game. Genuinely couldn't put it down until I'd finished it.
I just finished it with all the hordes done. I have to say one of the best zombie games ive ever played , lore is awesome story is ok but the horde and freakers are too good. I dont really care what people like ign have to say when it comes to games, this game is such a masterpiece entertainment.
yeah i dont remember which game i stopped listening to ign was but roughly a year ago i realized they often dont know what theyre talking about haha
Simple answer: yes the game is definitely worth playing in 2021 &2022

Can get this game for £8.50 for PC Black Friday sale, still not decided if its worth buying.
Good review will buy it.
This game is amazing. Played through twice. My PlayStation account logged me at 149 hours last year. If they don’t make a days gone 2 I’m gonna have to fight somebody.
ahah and i was thinking that im crazy with 83 hours but yes, i spent at least 25 hours after the game ending just to play around with hordes dumping loads of ammo and bombs that i farmed earlier in the story ahah so much fun
doing the sawmill horde so many times in various different ways also
i just started to play this game, any advice for newbie?
You explained this game perfectly. The always tense moments. The relief of making it back to camp. But the ending. They have to make a part 2.
@@dddayesq5061 I've took out 1 small horde so far. And that's only because there way a radio tower and I climbed up and dropped grenades below🤣
Good to see you back buddy.
I can't stand IGN. Because they will give games like Call of Duty a perfect score. DAYS GONE was one of those games I loved. The world and story
Exactly! Fortnight 9.7!? What a joke IGN!
xactly...IGN had some bitch that didnt even play games truly...& was angry that the main story revolved around a man lol...& said that everywhere you traveled had to be done by motorcycle lol...she also sucked at shooting...so yeah that did help sink this games launch sadly...I was one of those idiots that didnt buy the game at launch because i was fooled...But i am so glad i paid for it now...& have put over 500 hours easy lol.
I played the game on Hard and found it pretty challenging for the first few hours with limited supplies and little upgrades but near the end of the game fighting Hordes and enemies was so enjoyable …
Coming across Hordes early game was pretty exciting/nervous for myself.. I would actually lower my own breathing and tried to make little to no noise without me even realising ..
I think a major turn off for newer players is that your bike can’t go 5mins without running out of gas or needing to find some .. (After upgrades it’s not much of a frustration)
For me it’s an easy 9/10… I’ve come across one bad glitch so far but I started playing in 2021..
I just got the game today and that all sounds good to me, I’m playing on hard too. Can’t wait to play more
Probably the best game I've played this year. The best way to play it is on PS5 to have a stutter free experience. Even on a Powerful PC there can be some stutter while riding the bike. Anyway it's a great game, such a shame there won't be a sequel
To me, it felt like an open world The Last Of Us.
My 3090 says otherwise..
Likewise mate.
Hell yeah! I was so disappointed with TLoU2. I can't forgive NauhtyDog for what they did to Joel and Ellie.
Great review.ive only had my PS4 a few months so am desperate for high quality games regards gameplay.this sounds perfect for what i like.
