Something viewers who don't live in Canada might not realize that in Canada we don't have to pay for medical care. So even though our system has some real flaws, people don't have to risk losing their homes or their savings if someone in the family develops a catastrophic illness. Things like medical checkups, regular care, snf hospital stays are free. We have to pay for medications, but almost everything else is simply covered and that is a big stressor removed from our lives. And sometimes we take that for granted and don't remember what and incredible gift it is.
In New Zealand it is the same, I’m just coming out of hospital for the 24th time since June last year and everything has been free including massive operations. We are lucky. Merry Christmas x
Well, I wouldn’t say it’s “free”. The government isn’t a magical entity where money grows on trees, everyone pays for it in their taxes. My daughter lives in New Zealand and I have been quite shocked at the limit on the healthcare there! I also have talked to a Canadian and he said the Canadians he knows all try to come the the US to have procedures done because the waiting lists are way too long. Also, I hope you Canadians know about MAID and how the health professionals are pushing it for the terminally ill and the elderly, telling them they are a burden to their family, etc. And maybe you should research the drugs they give to actually kill the person. The first drug apparently paralyzes and makes the person feel like they are drowning. The second drug does the dirty deed, but may take hours to do it. Meanwhile, the person is paralyzed and feeling like they are drowning, but they can’t let anyone know. That is horrifying to me! I’m sure there are benefits to a socialized medical system, but I for one am grateful to live in the US.
I am so glad you are feeling better. I can't believe that you and Becky from Acre Homestead both got Pneumonia at about the same time and it hung on so long. I am so happy for you both that you are back to doing what gives you pleasure, taking care of your families back in the kitchen. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I'm a registered nurse and totally agree with you. I'm all about being proactive and only utilizing the medical system if something becomes more serious. Glad you're on the mend!!
Quite a few years ago in the same way you did With first a cold and then the flu and then pneumonia. It was probably the sickest I had ever been, and thankfully, I have not repeated it. It took a very long time for me to completely recover from the sickness. It was almost a year before I felt back to normal. It was difficult not to take up all of my previous responsibilities, especially with three boys to care for. Try your very best to take good care of yourself and delegate as much as you can for as long as you can. Thank you for all you teach me and for your kindness in sharing your days with us.
Hi Chelsea, hugging a pillow when you have a hard cough helps not damaging your ribs and also helps with pain cough causes. Glad you’re feeeling better now.
Oh Sweet Chelsea, so releived, you are on the mend & just in time for Christmas! May God bless you, & continue to give you His comfort & blessing! Thanks for making a video for us!
I've been there and had that! It's ruff and seems to take forever to get rid of. You cough forever it seems. Bless your heart, hang in there. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Im so glad your feeling better now ❤. Your cookbook is sold out already since this video was put out 😮 hopefully it will come back into stock I really need one ❤ Merry Christmas sweet lady 😊
I understand the aversion to fire cider after being sick. What I do for my kids is mix it with a little jelly and sparkling water for a fun shrub drink.
So happy you seem to be recovering from your horrible bout of pneumonia but, don't overdo. Have a wonderful holiday season. Look forward to seeing you in the new year
Hi Chelsea, hey long time viewer here, I have your cookbookx2, newsletter and love your channel. I sure have been praying for you. In 2022, my 51 yo husband passed away after 43 days in the ICU, from double lung Covid pneumonia with a secondary fungal pneumonia called aspergillosis. Today marks 3 years since he got sick and was admitted into the hospital. Please please take all the time you need to recover, even if it is six months. He was a hard working farmer who had never been sick a day in his life, it can affect anyone. He fought it at home for 2 weeks (the stubborn German that he was) all the time working and just continued to get ran down. I miss him every day and hate it for my kids who were 18 & 20 when they lost their dad. 💔My daughter has continued working the farm while finishing college to be a teacher. ❤Merry Christmas and wishing you Health and Happiness in the New Year.
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my hubby nearly 7 years ago and I miss him everyday. My daughters had a tough time as did my grandchildren. We miss him and talk about him often. 😢
Oh my sweet Chelsea. I have heard so many ppl come down with pneumonia these last few weeks. I had mine in October which took forever to go away. I will say a prayer u heal your rib soon. There must be something in the air!!
Oh it is so sad that you have been so very ill. What a journey you have been on. I save up your videos for a fortnightly binge and I have been worried! Happy that you are on the mend. Hello from the tropical north of Australia :) Xx
Hi from Australia, I hope you completely recover from you pneumonia. I have had it 3 times in my life time, I am 69 and the last time I had it about 3 years ago, yes it is brutal, it knocked my heart around. Each time I have had it I first get the chills very bad, even thought My temperature is raging, then I start coughing up raw fresh blood. I always have antibiotics on hand at home to start instantly I have the symptoms I take a double dose and off to the emergency cause my heart is very fragile to nasty illnesses. Takes ages to completely recover, I am very careful with anyone that has a virus, my daughter and family know to stay away. Bless you and your beautiful family, Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
I am so glad that you are feeling so much better! I miss you because you have become part of the family, my husband is watching you too❤. He says that he knows what you mean about an injured ribs. He damaged his doing doughnuts with his can am ATV. Merry Christmas To you and all of your family 🎄🎁❤️
So happy you are better. 🥰Please still pace yourself. We are here and not going anywhere. Relax and enjoy the holiday. Let those kids chip in more than normal. ❤❤❤ Merry Christmas 🎄 Happy New Year 🎊 You make the world a better place so take care of yourself extra gently for another couple months. Then you’ll be back full force by gardening season. Yay! Yesterday was solstice and Spring will be coming !
I can totally understand how you feel. I have been battling pneumonia since the end of October. It just won't go away. By the way, I'm much older than you and have several other health issues. I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling better 😊❤. Oh and I got your cookbook and I am excited to try some of the recipes 😊❤
So glad to hear that you are feeling better. I hope that you manage to pace yourself over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for all that you have done in 2024.
Chelsea, I can't believe all that you have been through! Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad to see you back doing videos. Please take care and have a very merry Christmas. Peace and healing thoughts. ❤️🎄
Becky/Acre Homestead just got over pneumonia as well! I've heard your postal strike was over last Tuesday. Thank goodness! Yes, you can twist a rib from coughing. It's very painful! Merry Christmas all! God bless you all and many prayers 📿 Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ ✨️ 🙏🏻
been watching your channel for awhile now. didn’t know you were sick til now because Randomly enough i ended up with a virus that turned into Pneumonia in the last week of November. oddly enough i didn’t have a single symptom til i spiked a 105 fever. it ended up turning into sepsis and i have a whole slew of issues i have to have dealt with via surgery now but you are right! anyone that has dealt with pneumonia i feel for you!
You are so amazing Chelsea! I love the way you think and just how kind you are. Please feel better soon. Sending lots of love ad healing vibes your way!

It seems this year, world wide, there is a lot of pneumonia going around. I'm off sick with it myself at the moment. Not nearly as severe as your sounds, but feeling wiped out after having a bath and getting dressed. Glad to see you feeling so much better
Soo soo glad u are back and feeling better. I have also been dealing with walking pneumonia and it has been terrible this year. No IV antibiotics for me, thank goodness. But sp glad to have u back. Love your content so much!
I finally caved and bought it, would love to join the community but not in the budget at this time. So happy to see all the progress you’ve made over the years!

I really enjoy your channel, I love watching you in your Garden and all the goodies you get out of it. I also wanted to tell you i was so excited when I received my cookbook, I couldn’t wait to sat down and read it. I read it cover to cover, I loved it I want to try all the recipes. Thank You
So glad you're feeling better! We all missed you. I have broken a rib 4 times now. It is definitely painful. Hope you continue to feel better! You look fantastic as usual!
Walking pneumonia has swept through Australia this year also, I unfortunately got it and struggled for awhile. Fortunately though they had specific antibiotics for it and I improved very quickly. Take care Chelsea ♥️
Merry Christmas Chelsea enjoy your time together with your family. So happy to see that you are feeling better. I'm also making cinnamon buns for Christmas morning along with a breakfast casserole. Thank you for sharing your day with us.
So glad you're better. I had pneumonia 10 years ago & lost my smell and taste. The only taste that came back is berries & chia tea. Still praying that more comes back. Baking & cooking is not as much fun!
I remember reading or watch8g someone a few years ago that told how to get your senses of smell and taste back, but I don’t remember what they said. I bet you could find it if you researched it.
You have been truly missed so happy you are feeling better. ❤i know how you feel I had it in September worst I've ever felt in my life.its December and still have some days that aren't great.Dr told me it could take up to 6 months so I take it easy on those days.sending prayers 🙏 ❤
Fun watching the cat on the window sill and the Rooster at the door. Your animals want in. If you have access to a swimming pool, swimming is a good exercise for pneumonia recovery - as the environment is warm and damp. Years ago I tried to recover from pneumonia by jogging - which resulted in doubling over coughing after half a block. While at the UVic gym I glanced into the pool area, and spotted an enthusiastic game of underwater hockey in progress. I thought that was just the ticket - and it worked - although I was largely useless for my first couple of games - I did recover my breathing ability by spring.
Chelsea..you are such a precious gem...thanks for sharing...thanks for who you are....can't wait to see you completely healed and in your garden this spring...prayers and blessings...MERRY CHRISTMAS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for bringing us into your lovely kitchen & teaching wonderful ways of preparing yummy food! Continued healing prayers being sent & Christmas blessings to all🤗🇨🇦🌲
So glad you’re feeling better, Chelsea! I have had dbl pneumonia twice, following Valley Fever, and I agree …It’s the pits and takes a long time to recoup. Take it as easy as possible for as long as possible. Merry Christmas to you and yours…been watching since your very early years, and you all seem like family! ♥️🎄♥️
I had the same thing happen to me in January it took a while for my rib to feel better. I then got another really bad cold in May and hurt it again. It’s so hard to get comfortable , I hope you feel better soon.
Here’s the link for the LMR store where you can grab your cookbook! Thank you all so much for your support.❤

Agreed. Much better than must countries. We must remind ourselves at times.
I couldn’t agree more. Every time I really need our medical system I am so deeply grateful for it.

So sorry to hear you have been so unwell. Many many years ago my lungs were very bad, not from the same condition but were bad enough to be considered for a lung transplant. My saving grace was acupuncture treatment to increase the strength of my lungs. I will always have challenges with my lungs, but I believe in natural therapies and the body’s capacity to heal itself, and I am blessed that getting my lungs stronger took some time, but it certainly helped. Just putting it out there, some people have differing opinions. Get well soon!
I definitely have a middle of the road approach to healthcare. If it’s within my wheelhouse to treat I do and if not I go to someone who knows more.😊
So happy to hear you're feeling better and on the mend. ☃️ Wishing you and your family and all the viewers here a Very Merry Christmas 🎄 Sending everyone the very best of wishes for your holiday season, may all your stockings overflow with much joy, love, and laughter 🎅

You have been truly missed so happy you are feeling better. ❤i know how you feel I had it in September worst I've ever felt in my life.its December and still have some days that aren't great.Dr told me it could take up to 6 months so I take it easy on those days.sending prayers 🙏 ❤
Hope your Christmas is blessed.
Sending prayers for your continued healing Chelsea. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I made the cinnamon buns today, the recipe was so easy to follow. My family really enjoyed them.
I did go to you Amazon store but did not find your book. So glad you’re feeling better. Miss your videos when you don’t post. Merry Christmas from MI.

Glad you are doing better from being sick.

I had the same thing happen to me in January it took a while for my rib to feel better. I then got another really bad cold in May and hurt it again. It’s so hard to get comfortable , I hope you feel better soon.
