I know I hate when they put negative stuff on science and medicine. I just saw this video from a woman talking about which it sounds like she was trying to convince pregnant women to give natural birth and not with the epidural because of the drugs that were in the epidural were narcotics drugs just because one of the names ends with caine like the word cocaine. But I actually looked it up and that woman is giving out the wrong info. Plus my mom gave birth to three kids (including me) with epidural and we're all fine. When I'm pregnant in the future I will take the epidural.
@kathialandaverde Usually, epidurals include some mixture of anesthetic and narcotics-- ropivacaine and fentanyl are commonly used. Of those two, the one ending in "caine" is actually the anesthetic, and the other is the narcotic. 😂 At any rate, there's no evidence epidurals harm babies. The medication is placed in the epidural space around the spine, not in the bloodstream, so the amount that reaches the baby is so small it can't even be detected.
Definitely crying. I want to share that I also had a very positive epidural experience. It took forever and a foley balloon for me to get to 5cm but at 5cm I got my epidural, 2.5 hours later I was at 7cm and my epidural stopped working. Anesthesiologist came and fixed it. 35 minutes later I was at 10cm (I just knew that’s the only reason they checked me so soon, because I insisted and I was right lol) and 25 minutes of pushing before my little was born. Modern medicine is amazing.
Thank you for posting this. Everything on tiktok and UA-cam is all about bad experiences and "natural" births. I needed to see a happy, epidural birth to calm my nerves.
Same! This is my 9th and I've never had an epidural but I'm getting one this time and all I've heard was bad things this video is the last one I'm watching and going to the hospital with good vibes!
Thank you there is a lot of pressure for natural births and not a lot of positive epidural stories. I had my 1st naturally hoping for that wonderful stuff they talk about and although it was interesting and intense I think being able to be mentally there relaxed while waiting for my baby would be the route I’d go in the future. This is coming from someone who didn’t find birth painful just required lots of concentration. There Is no right way to birth so as long as woman is treated with care and compassion. You got me crying lol and I don’t even plan on having more. I’m just fascinated by the process of birth. So beautiful.
I cried when the baby started crying, definitely makes me feel so much better about wanting an epidural. Plus watching the beginning I feel like just personality wise I am so much like you I feel like I’m watching myself 6 months from now. Thank you!! I am SO much less scared!
