In the United States, about six million people over the age of 65 experience late life depression and about one-third of seniors feel lonely.
Viva Vita is taking a novel approach to addressing both loneliness and depression in the elderly population.
The organization provides virtual reality excursions for seniors to help them break through personal limitations and find enjoyment exploring new settings.
At first glance, virtual reality for seniors might seem like a gimmick, but early studies of VR for depression, chronic pain, and other ailments are quite promising.

Jump into Books! Literally (famous libraries etc.) and into stories, like for example Harry Potter, or whatever books seniors like most. I know it would probably be much work but it would be amazing (:!

I was taking about getting my mom one of these. She’s 60 and struggling with breast cancer and depression. I wish I would trial run it by myself a week, to discover apps and best case uses for her

This is such a great thing that can help so many people! Hopefully the company is doing well through this pandemic. Another great youtube video on this subject is 'Walking with Reality' on Planet Classroom Network. This short video shows a man who is disabled and uses VR for the first time.

Totally awesome! I found this video because I just ordered my Oculus Quest 2 after watching some youtube videos. My first thought was how can this help my elderly parents, 83 & 78, still get to see some places in the world they haven't seen and could never afford to go see. I think this will be life changing for them and I'm very excited to introduce this to them.

How wonderful!! --yet how sad that it was really going to get underway in "early 2020". Then the elderly became prisoners in these old folks homes. I hope the program didn't get derailed.
i am concerned regarding addiction to VR.
That's a fair concern. I don't think it's any more addicting than things like food, exercising, shopping, drinking, gaming, ect.
