Thanks - this is exactly what I've been looking for. Other build explanations never go into why they work and this makes not only the build clear, but also how I can modify it without betraying the purpose.
Thank you my friend. i really appreciate these guides to explain the skills and the workings. I havent played soulbeast so I am looking forward to the coming ones. Please do Ele next then mesmer (again ...) the slowed down rotations were excellent. I cannot follow half of the rotations when ppl go so fast !! Just loving it. more pls Mr Mike !!! MORE please and ... (dont forget the singing bit too .... special please with cherries on top)
Wyld Fyre dont forget that sometimes higher numbers truly depend of the speed of your rotation, so whilst these guides are helpful, tl achieve good damage you need to try harder.
At 19:00 you tell us how to improvise or rather how to get back into combat. Your priority list has a little flaw though :) if you're on Dagger/Torch and get back into combat with Torch #5 you'll actually get the full cooldown instead of the "quick draw" shortened one. since this will mess up your rotation later you should reenter the fight by #4 + #2, Weapon switch and then go on. on the other hand: if you reenter the combat with Shortbow, you should just go SB #2 and then switch directly to Torch #5 with reduced CD :) Also one should factor in, that the internal Cooldown of Quick Draw is a bit longer (9s compared to 7 or 8 seconds) than the Weapon swap CD, so keep that in mind and thusly dont swap weapons too fastly. anyways, Thanks for your explanations, really helpfull
Fair points, although as far as I'm aware the weapon swap cd is 10 seconds and is not affected by alacrity so the internal cd for that trait is more aimed at druids who can proc it with celestial avatar. Could be wrong though.
Brilliant I have been waiting for something like this I got soul beast fully unlocked the other day and have not had a chance to try it as everyone in guild love's me being the Druid LOL
9:49 autoattacks have no cooldown and can not be quickdrawn. Sometimes when switching back to dagger/torch you'll still have 1 second to go on Bonfire, use autoattack during that time, then quickdraw Bonfire.
Good video, having just geared up my Condi Soulbeast it was instructive to watch. A bit of discussion on pet/Beastmaster choices would have been good too, perhaps something for a future video?
With this series, I'm trying to focus only on the currently best available choice only, i.e. the meta. You could honestly talk for hours if you want a full in depth look at the specialization. There's way more options in this game than the meta suggests (in my opinion) but alot of people like to look very specifically at the only what the meta suggests. The only pet change that I've seen any meta discussion surround is switching in the warthog for cc. Guess I could have mentioned that!
Thanks for replying, I get your point about the meta. I'm still experimenting with pets whilst trying to use Lynx more regularly. Not quite ready to get rid of my electric wyvern which I find good for solo PvE wandering and map completion.
mm.. rune of the strapper... Very nice vid, good neuance from the other elitist videos with unrealistic buffs and godly rotations. Those last few minutes in your vid really made it
Your friend is salty over renegade and soulbeast? I main a Scourge pve... Went from hero to zero in that first patch that wasnt even a patch, but a hotfix!
Awesome explanation of the build man, i really apreciate too how you mentioned where to get the gear, i allready have the armor and the weapons now im farming for the trinkets A couple of questions though, its shortbow the best secondary weapon for the set or is it there mostly if the time to play safe and go ranged arrives? would i lose too much dps if i decide to use d/d instead of sb as a secondary weapon set?
Shortbow isn't the choice for a ranged option so much as it is just the highest DPS option. Point blank cast of poison volley is necessary to achieve that so ranged isn't an option. I'm sure there are similar options for dps which are close, but we're focusing on the meta here which (as always) is the absolute optimal damage.
Will probably come round to it eventually. Next is firebrand I think but at the moment I can't record because I'm all sniffly. Kinda annoying winter ailment stops me from making vids. Hopefully soon TM!
This is a really helpful vid for a new player like me, can someone tell me how and where can I get items with four stats like his. I have checked all the vendors I know but still can't find an item has expertise.
With the exception of the high level content rewards that this build might help you actually get (raids and high fractals), the only way to get armour/weapons is to craft them. You can also transmute any other stats into viper with a simple recipe (check wiki for that). The trinkets come from the living story maps for winter berries, blood stones etc. It's a bit of a slog but eventually you'll get at least one set for light, medium and heavy and you'll be covered for when the meta changes as characters can share ascended gear. Good luck!
Lynx is indeed the best pet to sync with for dps, you can also use the warthog to sync with if you need more cc since it only looses around 500 dps and adds an extra cc skill
always keep "Beastmode" active and prestart "Sharpening Stone", "Vulture Stance", and "One Wolf Pack" before starting important fights and use them immediately when they come off cooldown for condition builds like this I would use exotic gear with sinister stats (condition damage, power, precision) and 4x Stormbringer runes + 2x Trapper runes in general or in this case Orr or Thorns runes for budget reasons - if you have problems with survivebility use buffood, which gives you healt every second, Tropicl Peppermint Cake for instance - I always prefer Corruption sigil more than the Geomancy sigil, because it`s more effective and you don`t need weapon swap IMO, with this build in combination with "Skirmishing"/"Light on your Feet" instead of "Quick Draw"
Yes but it's not ideal. Generally speaking power builds win out in fractals because the amount of trash mobs you have to kill is significant compared to raids (where condi builds can work really well). Also, even a boss needs specific high levels of toughness to be worth it. Ultimately, you would do ok but not great. Might be enough for some groups!
Put simply, the meta of the game (on a dps build) is all about getting the highest numbers and although this is predominantly a condition build, you still get a decent portion of your damage from power and precision. On top of that, traits like sharpened edges benefit from critical hits which require precision.
Yes but it's even simpler than here just run two shortbows. The build isn't the best in terms of damage but if you're starting out in raids etc, then it's a good easy condi build to start with.
Way smarter and more dedicated people than me. They sit down with Excel and the kitty golem and hammer it for hours, sometimes days per profession. If there's been any kind of balance change, they work out what is best with maths and trial and error. They're usually from the top guilds as they're the ones willing to put the time in. I call them spreadsheet monkeys but that's probably because I'm jealous I don't know how to design my own rota.
Tbh you can run whatever you like in the open world. It's not particularly punishing. These meta builds put out good damage even if not ideal, but you might want to find a meta power build for open world as they work better in 80% of cases.
Thanks - this is exactly what I've been looking for. Other build explanations never go into why they work and this makes not only the build clear, but also how I can modify it without betraying the purpose.
this is a great general guide on how to dissect, study and learn any profession/class in any mmorpg.
Your profile pic made me think i had an eyelash stuck on my screen
This was a fantastic format you've helped me out a great deal, thank you

If I sang every time, then it wouldn't be special. Thanks for the kind words again 😉

Thank you for explaining, it was easier to understand rotations & I will definitely tell a friend :)

Yeah I realised this after I posted the video. Didn't think anyone would notice! Damn your finely tuned ear!
Oh ya this is really activating my almonds!
More!
O and nicely done by the way!
Oh shit careful! I hear overactive almonds can be hazardous.

fairly new to game nice clear guide subbed cheers

My friend mains revenant and ranger and he's super-salty about renegade and soulbeast feeling limp. I'll show him this and see what he thinks.
You're telling a friend! That's all I ever wanted!
I have no friends to tell. But i'll study this.

can you do a understanding the meta for warrior/berserker? would power or condi build be bteer? and etc.
Will probably come round to it eventually. Next is firebrand I think but at the moment I can't record because I'm all sniffly. Kinda annoying winter ailment stops me from making vids. Hopefully soon TM!

Yay
Alfina Sherufynaizi yes

Is this still the most viable build with all the patches since November Mike? Thank you
always keep "Beastmode" active and prestart "Sharpening Stone", "Vulture Stance", and "One Wolf Pack" before starting important fights and use them immediately when they come off cooldown
for condition builds like this I would use exotic gear with sinister stats (condition damage, power, precision) and 4x Stormbringer runes + 2x Trapper runes in general or in this case Orr or Thorns runes for budget reasons - if you have problems with survivebility use buffood, which gives you healt every second, Tropicl Peppermint Cake for instance - I always prefer Corruption sigil more than the Geomancy sigil, because it`s more effective and you don`t need weapon swap IMO, with this build in combination with "Skirmishing"/"Light on your Feet" instead of "Quick Draw"
what is the name of the bow ?
Could this be use for Fractals as well?
Yes but it's not ideal. Generally speaking power builds win out in fractals because the amount of trash mobs you have to kill is significant compared to raids (where condi builds can work really well). Also, even a boss needs specific high levels of toughness to be worth it. Ultimately, you would do ok but not great. Might be enough for some groups!
Why vipers instead of trailblazer

Hi can i use in 2019 😅

Who decides this meta?
Way smarter and more dedicated people than me. They sit down with Excel and the kitty golem and hammer it for hours, sometimes days per profession. Is this still viable atm?
Not just viable but it seems to have survived the most recent patch unscathed.
Not a pve build for sure
Curious comment since this is very definitely a pve build and despite some nerfs is still a 30k+ dps build.
Mike The Fish I solo a lot I don't fight mobs from behind
Ah fair enough. The meta is based around group content.
Mike The Fish ty any suggestion
Tbh you can run whatever you like in the open world. It's not particularly punishing. These meta builds put out good damage even if not ideal, but you might want to find a meta power build for open world as they work better in 80% of cases.
