      Yes the Epiphyllum are epiphytic plants, in that they attach themselves to trees. They are not parasitic as some plant, in that they live off the plant. They merely use the plants for support.

    I enjoy your content 🙂 I especially love the fact that your content is local hence relatable. I will be happy to see an episode where you feature different types of wall creepers (external walls). I have received different types of advice (that's left me a bit confused) and noticed not so many people have put wall creepers on their house walls..

    Cactus bloom flowers early in the morning - about 9-10 am - they close .
    In late spring -
    Easy care .
    You can plant in pot or back yard.
    Dont need too much water.
    I cut some (sterm) put in the pot - keep moist-
    They will grow .🌸🌺

      Hi, you could apply a low dose fertizer after the blooming season to encourage foilage growth. But not to apply during the dormant stage over winter.

    How do you attach it to the tree to grow?

    • @redsoilgardener
      @redsoilgardener  Рік тому +2

      HI I ususally grow my epiphyllums in hanging baskets and hang them on a tree. However to attach to a tree, I would use the same technique as for Bromiads on a tree, wrapping sphagmun moss and and cacti soil then attach the moss ball to a tree.

    what do you use to To fertilize them?

    • @redsoilgardener
      @redsoilgardener  2 роки тому

      Hi Cherie, I use a slow releasing fertilsers, I find it easier as you mix the pellets in the soil. Also we mix cow dung manure and add compost for drainage.

    I have a 3 yr old epiphy cacti but doesn’t bloom a flower😅😅😅

      Hi Joy it maybe where you positioned your plant. During the winter period when the plant goes into dormancy it does't require light or much water. But now as spring arrives try to position the plant so it can receive morning light. Lets see if that works. Keep me posted

      I keep in the pot - water with plant foods - every 3 -4 weeks.
      Dont need too much water - sunny spot.
      Winter keep in patio
      - not outdoor- rain can damage the leaves..
