We’re in the market for an RV and what I’ve learned from your experience is to avoid Thor and avoid La Mesa RV. You can show them the impact that their poor quality and customer service have on future sales.

Nothing to do with Thor specifically. Every manufacturer has the covid quality issues. Because of the shutdown, them mass buying, these people had teenagers with ZERO experience running the shops and building the Rigs. You have to be slightly dumber than goldfish to buy a 2020-2023 RV.

@monicae67 New motorhomes/trailers are NOT made as good as older. Builders dont use quality materials, shortcuts, and they dont stand by their warranties. An older unit will have most of the kinks worked out and will cost you less 💲💲💲. Look up UA-cam videos from folks who have purchased new and regret it. Yep ... fancy & shiny & made from tin.

The most glaring part is that they made you wait three months for an appointment (you arrived on time) then they made you wait three hours to tell you that their master technicians don’t know how to test a lithium battery. I can not wrap my mind around that (or the rest of their explanation). It was either just a lie or a full admission by LaMesa that they lack even the most basic tech skills.

    • @markjung2766
      @markjung2766 Рік тому +4

I'm sure the techs know how to test a lithium battery. The problem is that the manufacturer of the battery needs to follow their process of having the battery still connected to the RV so they can log in, do their tests and determine if it's a defective unit. At least, that's what I thought was said during the video. But I've been drinking margaritas today, so who can really say?

This is really concerning. I would show LA mesa this video and the comments. I have been researching my upcoming RV purchase and had come across LA mesa videos.
After seeing this I'm staying far far far away from La Mesa and Thor. IMO you need to reach out to both of them. Show them this video and comments so they understand they are losing business by having such poor customer service.
Especially la Mesa. This is unexcusable treatment. Never ever do business with them

I certainly appreciate you guys telling it like it is with your dealings with LA Mesa and Thor. At this point, I will not be purchasing a class b from either of them. $100,000 plus is a lot of money in any bodies pocket book. The ole American quality and workmanship, or the lack thereof, is still alive and sadly real. Thanks for sharing your experiences. HopefullyThor will make this unit right for you! God bless!!

I have sat at CW from 9am to 4:40 on several occasions. I won’t leave my van ( just like yours but with a pop top) any more last year they had it for 6 weeks in prime camping season. When I picked it up they said it wasn’t ready yet so I sat for another 4 hours while they did what it sat there for 6 weeks for. Everything still wasn’t done. If These vans could came with a 6 year warranty and I still feel there would be something to fix. I’m also frustrated with CW and Thor. These vans aren’t cheap it is just thrown together where is pride in your work, and integrity in your product.

ugh.... Thor! Service guys say 'if anyone will take care of it Thor will take care of it'... that's false- Thor doesn't care. Thor will try to run out the clock and leave you hanging (don't ask how I know!)

I feel your pain.

We also have had issues with Thor and the La Mesa RV in San Diego. We have a 2022 Thor Tellaro. Some parts that we were told were ordered, were never ordered and we found that out because the service rep had quit. As such, we had to start the entire process over again (after waiting almost 7 months for the so called parts to come in!) . Our latest issues have to do with the awning. The awning was replaced, La Mesa ordered the wrong LED lights, so we had to wait 2 more months for them to come in. Once they were installed, we noticed that the frame on the awning was bent, and LaMesa told us that Thor would not replace this and it is what it is. Thor has also not acknowledged a design flaw on our cabinets, even though I have sent them pictures of what the same model looks like from other dealers and even from their web site! For sure, our next purchase will not be a Thor motor coach. There is absolutely no attention paid to details by Thor and they have no quality control. In the emails I had with Thor, their tagline was “Thor Motor Coach Will Produce the Highest Quality Recreational Vehicles. NOBODY Will Build Them Better.” Thor is living in a fantasy land if they truly believe that statement. I also posted on Thor’s YT video, that Buyers Beware!

Thanks for reinforcing my thought that both LeMesa and Thor are to be thoroughly avoided. I live right down the road from LeMesa in Mesa and everything about them feels sketchy. Thinking about purchasing a van on either a Transit or Sprinter chassis from Papago Vans which is also in Mesa and seems like a top notch business. Thanks again and good luck.

Rize here. LaMesa in Sanford FL. We’ve made 6 delivery trips to LaMesa for fixes and warranty work. 1,900 miles of driving if you count pickup. Every trip they fixed one thing and broke another. 2 years later….we’re still getting things fixed. Five trips to fix the awning. 2 BMPros, Generator issues-3 trips. Pioneer system died twice, USB outlets not working. My math works out to a 250% failure rate on LaMesa fixing things the first time. Similarly I’d estimate a 3:1 ratio of our communication to LaMesa response.

I have the same RV, same dealer and same problem with the batteries. Long story but I ended up being so frustrated with La Mesa and Thor that I went to the folks at Mastervolt and Relion. I too pulled my batteries. I did a load test on both of them and one failed. I'm in the process of getting that replaced directly by Relion. Happy to go into more details and help you out if you need further info.
Good to know on the wallpaper as my paper is peeling too.
Yesterday the shower wall looked strange. It is secured by glue and several screws with matching white caps. Yes, it should be a warranty repair, but 6 bucks with Amazon, a gross of 120 caps/screws should give me enough to get the wall to sit flat against the wall again.
My new batteries from SFK have a bms system that lets me see each battery vs the Relion where you have to get to the batteries via the Combimaster / Mastervolt setup.
    Good luck

We have been dealing with La Mesa and Midwest on just the awning and we have taken the RV in and at one point they had it for two months and it still hasn't been done. Our awning went bad back on October of 2022, they claim they had to order it, then it came in ripped, then they claimed that the motor went bad. Now they ordered another but claim it's the wrong color. La Mesa has lower prices but the worse service when it comes to sales, delivery, and service. We have used most of the mileage for our RV taking it in for service. It's all BS and there is no transparency. I feel they are just selling the vehicle to us and we are on our own. Hey, when that wallpaper comes in be sure to ask to see it first!! In my Jayco Swift van Jayco sent the wrong replacement vinyl floor and the dealer installed it. When I confronted them and asked why they didn’t call me to tell me that it was totally different they said “that’s what Jayco sent us”. Jayco told us the vinyl wasn’t made any longer…right. Oh, the dealer installed it crooked and when I confronted them “it’s sort of an optical illusion”

We bought our Thor Tranquility from LeMesa in San Diego. After going through the initial walkthrough at purchase, I told my wife I will never take the camper back there and try to fix things ourselves as needed. Which we do as much as possible. The place seemed incompetent. And this was right before they wanted me to get into an extended warranty for 20k which I laughed at. I am so sorry and its just plain wrong that you two (and I’m sure countless others) have to go through all that but it shows we made the right decision. You will get your camper working perfectly. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Do Thor & La Mesa not understand that experiences like this, with so many people watching & sharing this youtube, will destroy their business unless they dramatically improve their product & customer service. Truly shocking! I was planning on going to La Mesa to look at vans since I have family nearby, but not now. With high inflation now, & possible recession looming, businesses like this will be doomed.

We own a 2021 Thor Tellaro 20 LT. We purchased it used with 7k miles from La Mesa in San Diego in July 2022. We are owners of A class RV, so we are very familiar with quality control issues and moving parts that need repairs.
We flew to San Diego, made the purchase and drove it home to Las Vegas. The same day we arrived home, we extended the awning and it failed and we couldn't manually retract it either. It was still under warranty, so La Mesa reimbursed us for the mobile repairman to come and manually retract it. The motor on the awning had failed and the retract slot for a a better word was damaged, so we had to find an approved Thor service. We fortunately, found Van City of Las Vegas. The awning was replaced by Thor. Nina and her crew of Van City have been incredible. Nina will go to bat for you with Thor. She will not put the burden on the customer. Like your dealership did in your last post! My two cents, Those batteries should have been immediately replaced by La Mesa, Thor or an authorized dealer. It is outrageous that you were made to wait 3+ months just to find out what if anything, the dealership or manufacturer will do anything about it. You would've blown 3 + months not living your Van life! I applaud your pro- active measures for a battery replacement. You mitigated the situation, La Mesa of Arizona should be grateful.
Van City of Las Vegas has been backed up with service at times but I'm confident they would've gotten you replacement batteries in a timely manner, as I've heard they have come through in such emergencies as yours. I don't work for Van City! I'm just happy to pass on their great service. . We love our Thor Tellaro 20 LT and yes we have minor quality control issues. Thor could use more quality control for sure. Headliner falling down, door panel falling off, wall paper peeling down these are all due to failing adhesive issues. The wall paper I was able to reattach, not perfect but it looks passable, it's in the cabinet, out of warranty and I also live in the desert, not an excuse for Thor. It's something they should consider in the products they use. The headliner and door panel, Van City, professionally attached with matching covered buttons something that Thor should've done.
    in the manufacturing process.
Best of luck with Mr. Lemon 🍋. In a recent video your microwave wouldn't work, what was the results and resolve of that?
We have traveled to lake Mojave, Bear River, CA., Seattle, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Alaska and to Manti-La Sal's Arapeen trails in a year in our B Class.
Can't wait for your next video.

Take away here IMO..is to check out the dealership's rating for customer service BEFORE buying..2nd, I have seen from other RV'rs that not only have an emergency fund for repairs, but have a portion set aside for transportation and boarding expenses at a local hotel because what should be done in a short time seems to always take days..I am so sorry for your frustration in what should be a no big deal....Thank you for sharing your experience.

Sorry to hear this. I owned a Thor product and it was just so cheaply made. The number of times the entire coach flooded was astonishing. Every little thing had issues. We never took it out and not had an issue. Every time there was something. I swore I would never own another Thor product after that. So we traded it in for a Winnebago and have been so happy with it. Bonus for us it Winnebago's factory is 5 hours north of us, so we take it directly to them for repairs. They have a campground for you and always bring your rig back in the evening so you can use it if you have more than a day's worth of service. Winnebago sold me on their service and quality. Also, they stood behind something that was quite costly that had gone out twice. It was the slide seal. They fixed it under warranty and next year they fixed it outside of warranty at their cost. So don't give up RVing, give up that brand and remember you get what you pay for. So lower cost might not be a better deal.

Mike Thompson RV and Forest River is just like this. These dealerships make hardly no money on warranty issues and so that is why it takes so long to get your rig in for service, they hope you'll just go away. Our RV was down for 9 months, I requested through FR that my warranty be extended by 9 months and they did. I also asked FR if I could go to an independent repair shop, gave them the name and FR allowed it. I still continue to go to this place for service. Document everything! Every conversation. I submitted 75 pages of phone call records/texts and personal notes. This really helped my case on getting things done. We are all used to buying a car and expect the same results when we need service. NOT, These RV companies only care about selling RV's not dealing with repairs due to poor workmanship.

Terrible I mean terrible customer service. We own an airstream and we have hd a few minor issues our dealership has been great. We drove down to Jackson Centre this yr to their factory service centre and had some warranty work done. Again no issues u email them the issues. U show up they look at it and then fix it all. Took them days which we were prepared for and stayed their over night. I did see a few issues while waiting in the waiting room and mangers came out to see the customers and resolve them. I would loose my S if they weren’t prepared to fix everything after driving from Canada. I think u are too nice. Oh I already said that 😏😂 i would never ever buy from that dealership again. They really didn’t seem to know what they were doing and blew u off.

After running the AC full blast for 4 days, and a pedestal fan blowing into the tank compartment we finally got the humidity down to 36%. Applied 2 coats of Flex Seal and 1 coat of Marine 500 top coat and let dry for 48 hours. Today we will fill the tank and static test. When reassembling the seat compartment we are installing Water Witch leak detector with Wi-Fi to alarm us of any future tank or fitting leaks. Note from the get-go we do not use the "Imposable to change filter" and pre filter on our incoming water. Hopefully the flooring will not buckle up from this adventure. 0:22 we have a brand new Thor 18M ( purchased in April 2023). They viewed a couple of problems on our walk thru before we took possession. Dome light in bathroom was dangling and burned a hole in the plastic and the shower curtain was ripped. We made an appointment to take it in when we were not using it on July 24. A week later on July 31 we spoke with them and they said they hadn’t even looked at it yet! I don’t understand making an appointment months ahead of time and they allow us to bring it in just to sit in their parking lot for a week. They said they were going to take it in the shop that day. We went to get it on day 10 and they still hadn’t gotten to it yet. We picked it up to use it this weekend. The entire service department seems terribly confused. So frustrating.

I never buy extended warranty on an RV because you can never get in to get the work done. You might want to see if there are mobile RV technicians in your area that are able to do warranty work. I don’t want to mention the RV manufacture but they are one of the top 5. My in-laws have spent many hours on the phone, internet and driving to Las Vegas for warranty work 3 times ( $ in diesel fuel) from LA to LV. Most of the concerns were electrical both solar and battery storage issues. As a longtime RV electrical specialist (who lives in Oregon) and semi retired my in-laws did not take any input from me because they know it all. Good luck to them. When we visited Thor for a factory tour, we were shocked at the quality that was lacking as their employees built motor homes. We noticed several things done poorly or not at all that would cause problems later on. Also in the tour was a couple that had just bought a rig and before they took it out, were there for repairs. I just bought a used rv - needless to say, I avoided a Thor product and would NEVER buy one again. 9 months!!! It took Day Bros RV 9 months and several visits to fix the air conditioner (cab) in our Thor Vegas.
It went out in Oct ‘22 and we dropped it off with them. They called us just before Christmas and told us it was fixed and we could finally pick it up. The very next time we drove it there was antifreeze everywhere, when the air was turned on it wasn’t working and was making a terrible noise, and we had to pay to have it towed back to the repair shop where they kept it until until late July ‘23 because “they couldn’t get the parts because they can only use the manufacture that Thor approved and the company doesn’t have a phone number or address-you can only email them and wait for a response”.
We couldn’t go to our local Ford garage and pick up an air conditioner (compressor) for Day Bros to install because that would void the warranty.
Yes, we called Thor several times. They did nothing.
We also had to replace our batteries within the first year and they were not covered under warranty.
