I grew up with Lionel Richie's music because my dad bought some of his records back in the day. He's a guy who can claim to be a real artist. My dad used to say, "Lionel Richie is THE man" 👍. For me it's timeless music and his songwriting transcends genres. Of course he does mostly soul, funk, r'n'b and pop, but some of the songs were hits on the dance and country charts as well. I did some research and found out that he has written 23 (!) top 10 hits. I think you can say you're a good writer if you've not only written a lot of hits, but also if those songs still mean something to people around the world decades later. Yeah, he's a legend 👏.
