Shermz & Jared had the worst PSLE scores but ended up in NUS. Just shows everyone that its not how you start but its how you finish. Some people might just mature earlier than others & that's fine. Some may not even have the best resumes but they do very well in their work life.

Life was a misery being restricted by a tiger mum in all faucets. It's so bad till the point I don't even want to interact with such a toxic being who's also ridiculously stubborn.
Even if 1+1 = 2 is correct; she'll argue till the end to insist that 1+1 = 2 is wrong and that she is always "right".
This resulted in me not speaking much, as any inputs or opinions that I had were always dismissed.
Responses from me ultimately boiled down to only these three options: "tsk / orh ok / dunno, dont care".
What's the use in speaking sense to a flawed person who refuses to correct their own wrong but instead bring down everyone around them?
Way to go if you want your child (or ppl in general) to hate you till the end of time.

As a fellow tiger child, I feel your pain. Please continue to prioritise yourself & your mental well-being.

Nice session guys! I think the best way to understand parents is when you become parents yourselves. Cheers to parenthood!

I've got a kid now and TBH I still cannot understand how my parents would act like national exams (like PSLE) were life or death events. Your child is not less deserving of your love just because he/she did not do as well as you wanted in PSLE.

The psle collection moment is really a core moment to most kids on how their parents reaction to the result. I remembered I got slap by my dad and my mum expressed her disappointment. Worst day ever. Ptsd for sure.

As parents, they would want their kids to excel in studies and also a good build up in discipline and character. Being parents will always be there for their kids. They will always worry even when they don’t really show it. Even when kids grow up becoming young adults. Family time is precious.

The fear of passing on generation trauma is real.
Be it foster / adopter / w/e not just the biological parent.

This is too true. I still have scars from tiger parenting. Before I decided to have kids, I had to go thru therapy to sort myself out so (hopefully) I won't pass on the trauma to the next gen.
