I have one and it is a beauty, fun to ride on any terrain. Now I need to buy more gear, thanks to you! Your video is gorgeous, and you have inspired me to take my baby to more scenic and desolate vistas. Thanks, mate. Best wishes.
Hi Kevin, this bike is not electric. The rear hub may look like a motor, but no it is a NuVinci N360 internal gear hub. This bike is built to ride in some pretty harsh conditions, rain is not a problem. There are occasions when the hill is too steep to ride, walking is the next mode forward. Loose sand on the flat is no problem at all. The frame and wheels are pretty beef, would easily handle a 250lb+ rider. Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed it! Troy.
Hi Byron, maaate the man eaters are out there. The rear hub is an internal gear hub, commercially available, a NuVinci N360, variable speed transmission and super smooth changing on the sand. I hope you have also seen my other video with the 'Follow the sun' soundtrack. Embodies the capabilities, freedom and the spirit of adventure that a fatbike can bring. Happy trails! Troy.
To answer the question can the Moon Lander operate in the rain, I would have to say YES, the last two days I've ridden my Moon Lander through driving rain that was coming down sideways and six inch deep puddles with no issues whatsoever. It actually never even a consideration if the Moon Lander could do something like this, it was just a given that it would ride through rain and pretty much any other type of weather, I've seen them ride through six inches of mud or 12 inches of sea water without incident. When I started riding my Moon Lander I weighed 246 pounds and three months later I am less than 220 pounds. It never had a single issue supporting my weight when I was 246, I talked to a guy a couple months ago that has to be at least 350 pounds (and its not all muscle) He said he loves his Moon Lander, so yeah they can carry an awful lot of weight with no problems, they are extremely heavy duty bikes. You have to sit on one and take it for a spin and you'll never want to ride a mountain bike again, they have really low gearing so accelerating is a piece of cake in a Moon Lander. They are built for stability and not top end speed, I have a road bike for when I need to get somewhere in a hurry. Think of the Moon Lander like one of those Fat Boy Harley Davidson motor cycles, I can't say enough about how awesome the Moon Lander is, they are really that awesome. Don't get anything less you'll regret it.
Questions: 1.) Can this bike operate in the rain? 2.) I see you walking thru loose sand - can the bike ride thru this type of terrain? 3.) What's the wattage? Weight limit of rider? How long will it run with a BIG rider on it (250+ pounds) Love the vid! Good work!
So where are the stone fish? And all the poisonous serpents? No saltwater crocs? I thought Oz was swarming with lethal baddies. I noted that you said the rear hub had internal braking but all the Moonlanders I've seen just have ordinary rear sprockets. Something original? Cheers from Jakarta. Loved watching.
Mate, glad you enjoyed it. For a bit more info on gear, check out my blog for the titanium Muru Witjira fatbike I built for Alaska. I will have the video from this trip completed soon. Troy.
My Moon lander weighs 28 pounds without any frame bags or anything, you could probably easily carry more than a 100 pounds of extra stuff on Moon Lander as well yourself. I've actually never looked it up, but they are very sturdy.

Hang loose.

Pretty well - keep the weight back, turn slowly and carve with the back end, not the front! Troy.
