This was very well presented. No padding, no outrageous speculation. Very informative.

In 1952 my grandmother took me over to her friend’s house next door. I was scared of her until my grandmother told me her brother had been a railroader. “He was but was killed when a trestle crashed,” she told me. I tried to find out when my grandmother’s friend but the funeral home manager said their records went up when the mortuary burned. Gotta keep trying to find out which wreck claimed his life.

And that is why there are guard/check rails parallel and inside the gauge on bridges to help prevent derailing and re-rail the wheels if they do.

Your voice has extraordinary resonance. The world of opera needs you as a bass singer.

Surely the ghost hunters should have realised that the approaching train had a diesel hog on the point, not a steam locomotive? The sound alone should have warned them. So was it a case of resolutely believing what they wanted to believe in defiance of sensory evidence (I mean, didn't the engineer sound his air horn?) or did they think diesel locomotives had been around in 1891?

In most cases, especially in areas where it is not banned, Engineers must sound their horn when entering a bridge and do. The ghost hunters should've spent their time being "brain cell" hunters. Walking on active RR tracks and an active RR bridge isn't smart and that's an understatement. You can also get charged with trespassing by the RR, as you would be on their property.

@@kman-mi7su I did a lot of trespassing and walking along railroad tracks as a kid. Worst thing that happened was later being employed by them and dealing with clueless management and dispatchers. Other than that it was a good time.
