    いい演奏がたくさんあるのに、忘れ去られた感があるピアニスト。
    再評価に期待したい。

Hey everyone - I am embarking on a project called the Kapell Stereo Series, where I convert and remaster William Kapell’s mono recordings into stereo utilizing the Haas effect. Kapell is probably one of the finest 20th century pianists with his incredible sensitivity, whose life was cut short by a tragic plane accident in 1953. He would’ve been able to record in stereo if he were to survive a few years longer as stereo recording became popular from 1956 onwards.
The Haas effect (1949) states that when one sound is followed by another with a delay of approximately 40 ms or less (below humans’ echo threshold), the two are perceived as a single sound. This is an opportunity, in the audio mixing sense, to truly stereo-ize a recording without any further editing in the conversion process (ie. reverb, EQ).
As with all of my videos, I do not monetize off of these and present them under Fair Use for educational purposes. Occasionally, I will remaster recordings of other pianists which will not be on this playlist. Stay tuned for more and I hope you enjoy this stunning rendition of Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie.

Thank you. While I don't necessarily think stereo is the most important ingredient in making mono sound better, I approve of your project!
