Two great ones were in 2007 Joe Biden saying all Rudy Giuliani's sentences are "noun, verb, 9/11" and in 1984 Ronald Reagan saying he wasn't going to exploit the age and inexperience of Walter Mondale (when the question was geared toward Reagan's advanced age)
I love the dichotomy between the punishments. Tommy is just all "I'm going to make Brian do slightly silly things" while Brian is full Drago-voiced "I must break you!"
I am convinced it's because Brian is from NJ. We don't f around - no sympathy for the loser! (In a fun competition like this) I think this beats out the tramp stamp 😂😂
Monster talent. I wish we'd had the guts to pick her over Biden. In some alternate timeline America would be in a very happy place right now. Imagine these chumpsters trying to take on an incumbent Liz Warren.
He didn't say he was like JFK he said he was the same age when running for office. I was a young teenager when I saw this and thought how rude and disrespectful.
DeSantis reminds me so much of Perry. Perry strutted around Texas and thought he was the GOP savior. Then he crossed over the state line into the rest of America and immediately began plummetting to the earth with his arms and legs wildly flailing before *splat* he was gone.
@@mitchlss Correct. It is important to understand that Trump did this as a joke. It was in a way a dog whistle and if you got the message it was simple - "this whole Government thing is a joke to me. I don't give a shit about government. Look, I'm appointing the bozo Perry to head up the department he couldn't remember - one of three he said he wanted to get rid of. Funny, huh?"
Nothing will top the Jack Kennedy quip. It was so effortlessly delivered and the whole audience went up in flames. You rarely saw mic-drop moments like that in 1988.
"You're no Jack Kennedy." There are no four words in politics that could be more of a sweep at the knees. There weren't many people taking Quayle seriously before that. After that, any political aspirations Quayle might have had outside of being Robin to HW Bush's batman (Burt Ward and Adam West respectively in this case.) absolutely evaporated. Quayle may have won the election, but it was the end of his political career. He could never be looked at as a serious politician again. "You're no Jack Kennedy" would have been played in every political commercial against him, and there's no recovery from that.
THE PUNISHMENT 😂 one of my favorite debate moments not included here is Obama against Romney when Romney mentions a few stats about how Obama is supposedly making our military weaker, and Obama goes ‘well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military has changed’. That moment just crushed Romney and showed Obama had a clear grip on his understanding of the presidency and the country as a whole
actually ma'am....calling the military weaker referred to Afghan soldiers killing US troops bc they were so sad Qurans hide been burned..and instead of defending American troops..he Apologized for the toilet paper burning
Actually, Obama in that debate criticized Romney for labeling Russia as one of our greatest geopolitical foes and even brushed it aside with the joke “the 80s called and they want their foreign policy back”. Knowing what we know now what they’re capable of Romney actually had a much clearer understanding of the world stage than Obama ever dreamed he could have. Obama was an effective communicator and he may be creative with his words, but his execution leaves so much to be desired. So no…he did not have a clear grip on the understanding of the presidency.
God, the "likeability" thing is so hard to stomach. Women have it hard. We show emotion, we're weak. We try to be tough, we're unlikeable harpies. There's sometimes no winning.
There's a great quote from an article about the notoriously-inconsistent characterization of Captain Janeway on Star Trek Voyager that sums it up so well... because of that, I've always called it the "Janeway Problem." "Indeed, no matter how a woman in authority acts, there’s likely to be a stereotype to account for it. Concerned about those under her? She’s a “mother.” Aggressive? She’s a “ball-buster.” Intuitive? “Overly emotional.” Logical? “Ice queen.” It is very easy to fall into the trap of playing into sexist stereotypes because there are so damn many of them. One could easily justify the various zig-zags taken by the Voyager writing staff in characterizing as attempts to avoid various pit falls. However, swerving to avoid one stereotype means you wind up hitting another."
It's toxic, and it's not only women. Candidates of color face that same dichotomy. Agree with the status quo and your a shill. Speak out against it in your problem. It's why Democrats can only what men like Barack Obama. The centrist we needed to save 0pplppp😊0pp😊p
Agree completely. Never understood why people found Hillary unlikable. I met her once and she was so warm and kind to my then 6 year old daughter. Obama’s response didn’t bother me because it’s exactly the kind of thing one of my brothers would have said to me. Their affection was always couched in sarcasm. But I can see how it came across as obnoxious to most people.
@@TamarLitvot I thought obamas answer was kinda sweet but I have 2 brothers. But even sweeter after crude vulgar trumps reactions to women Vote Blue For Truth 💙😎💙
If you look at Hillary's interviews and written stuff she goes into pretty deep detail about how being the only woman in high politics back in the beginning of her career and how men treated her really shaped the way she acts in the public sphere. It's just second nature now and she has had trouble unlearning it. All the men really criticized and held her back in her career when she showed any sort of emotion. I totally get why she started to mask it. Apparently in her personal life, with her daughters and such, she is super warm and loving. It's a shame our culture does this to women in positions of power.
Brian and Tommy, you 2 work so well together! Tommy as a Freedom Girl was adorable. Almost as adorable as Brian in his bunny suit! Love it!!! For this challenge, I think Brian's got it with his picks!
This has easily become my favorite content of the channel. The topics are great, the debates are peak, but nothing beats the punishments. 10/10 content, great work, lads!
It’s certainly the funniest quip. It didn’t really offend or attack Mondale, it was a great example of how Reagan just effortlessly deflected criticism with humor.
I remember Warren's comments on Bloomberg, particularly because people were starting to dig him. She had impeccable timing on that one - the candidates should learn from her.
Veep (the tv series) had a brilliant presidential debate and it was so funny to see the advisers behind the cameras face-palming....'Stop saying holes'
Brian won. Wonderful as Tommy is, the Warren debate is stone brilliance- because there just is no coming back from a blow to Bloomberg’s entire existence, plus she’s fire. And the “You’re no John Kennedy” line is so legendary- everyone since whose ever stepped on a debate stage prays to get a setup like that from an opponent.
I remember call people for Warren after this debate. I got cursed out by a Bloomberg supporter who said she had “single-handedly doomed america by making the most electable candidate look bad on tv”
Hysterical, you guys are a great energy together. Brought the entertainment in droves, but I gotta go with Tommie's list, sorry BTC! Loved that loss condition though 😂

coming up on this election season, this video is so well-timed and light-hearted. Helps put some perspective on what we all know is going to be another dumpster-fire just with new stench top-notes.
The Bloomberg Bloodbath was extra juicy because he was catching momentum in that moment of that primary (maybe just with the TV media, but it was real heat at the time) and Warren just burned all that hope to the ground and no one even considered Michael to be serious ever again.
The fact that a day will come when Tommy's kids will cause some mischief and he'll have to be the stern dad. Phone comes out and that clip with the freedom girls on full blast 😂

How did I not know about these? First I loved the flashback to previous debate moments. Warren is my favorite and I'm still bitter she wasn't the chosen candidate. I'll continue to vote for the Dem chosen candidate because the alternative is literally the worst. The Dems have to know pushing old Joe is going to hurt with young voters who don't like him or Trump. We need better options, the lesser of two evils sucks! The dancing with the "Freedom Singers" was hilarious. I officially subscribed for this video.
What are some memorable debate moments not included on this list? (After tonight's debate, we may need to make a part 2.)
Anything with Sarah Palin.
Pence and the fly
Joe Biden destroying Rudy's campaign with one joke: A noun, a verb and 9/11
Two great ones were in 2007 Joe Biden saying all Rudy Giuliani's sentences are "noun, verb, 9/11" and in 1984 Ronald Reagan saying he wasn't going to exploit the age and inexperience of Walter Mondale (when the question was geared toward Reagan's advanced age)
My favorite was Reagan's "youth and inexperience" line!
I feel like there was a miss on not having Pence and the fly
😂😂😂😂😂
I'm surprised they didn't include that.
That was more along the lines of meme fodder after the fact
That was hilarious! Omg lol
Tommy as a Freedom Kid was absolute gold 🤣 More of this series please!

Tommy can look hapless without seeming pathetic. That's comedy magic.
Brian smelled blood and all he could hear was the Mortal Kombat “Finish him!!” 🤣
Elizabeth Warren's gut punch to Bloomberg was epic. He was a prime target for her. Boom!!!
She's a great senator, and while I WOULD vote for her, I'm happy she is in the legislation.
I almost felt bad for Bloomberg. He didn't stand a chance 😂

@MarkKrebs nah, she sucks. She always folds and gives up in what she believes in. I will never forget the Bernie betrayel.

“Senator you’re no Jack Kennedy.” Best quote ever!

It never fails to amuse me when Republicans invoke the Kennedy name.
He didn't say he was like JFK he said he was the same age when running for office. I was a young teenager when I saw this and thought how rude and disrespectful.
