Kulumbri, sallat ullinjsh të zi dhe jeshil me djath dhe rigon, domate të kuqe, rucola, patlixhane, shport buke ose frutash, Kanister është një shport e madhe për rroba ose fruta dhe perime. The guy from Dardania (Gheg) had a few mistakes, hithra, laker etc are not what we called them. I am from Gjilan and these names refer to different veggies. Overall, I love hearing/learning Arebresh words.. How do you say Djath? bc we refer djath / gjath to all the chees.

You have more words similar to albanian than arberesh because of the Turkish loanwords, but the ones that are Latin origin are more similar to arberesh
Nërënxa jane si portokalle ne pamje te pare, por te hidhura (ne shqipen standarte), ndersa portokalli eshte i ëmbël. Zakonisht gjenden ne jug prandaj ne veri mbase nuk i njohin mire. Ngjyrat Leutrimi i ka pak "mbrapsht" me gjuhen standarte(me shume mundesi mund ti kete dhe gjuha standarte mbrapsht :), e gjelber/jeshile = verde (italisht), e verdhë = giallo (ita).
@ Gheg from a town called Velesht. It’s part of Struga which is a city in what is now Macedonia. The city and all the towns that are a part of it are predominantly Albanian.

@ Yellow is either "verdhe" or "sarit" in Kosovo. But actually the root for verdhe is latin verde which means green, so somehow this guy's city is using the right word, while all the rest of us changed its orignial meaning
Ky djale nuk e di mire Shqipen, e ka harruar. He either is color blind or he is mixing up the color names. He called green - verdhe, which means in fact yeallow, while green is jeshile or gjelber.

Interesant sesi "verde" në italisht i bika "verdhë" në gegnishten e krahines nga je ti. Pakashumë qënkan tre modele në të folurin tonë në troje: gjelbër (letrare/toskerisht) - jeshil (gegnishte në Shqipërinë e veriut) - verdhë (në gegnishte të Kosovës). Ju përshëndes

Varet, sepse në gegnishten e Lezhë-Shkodër-Mirditë patellxhani ka kuptimin e "melanzane". Ndërsa domatet quhen o "domate" o ("mollatare" -> molla t'arta) pakashumë si (pomodoro -> pomo d'oro)

Arberesh are usually proud Christians and being Christian is fundamental to Arberesh identity. They do not generally identify as Albanians and Albanians being Muslim is one of the factors involved in this distancing from Albanians.
@ I recognise that but not all faiths can be correct. Christianity whilst inspired by the teachings of Christ is the work of the Church fathers starting from the council of Nicea. The Quran is the word of God and I say that with all due respect, afterall you are my ethnic kin. Gheg Albanian Muslims will not return to the teachings in the Bible. @ I recognise that but those Albanians who have adopted Islam some of them hundreds of years after the exodus to southern Italy will not go back to the teachings of the Church fathers or the Bible. Whichever Bible the Arbereshe adhere to.
Again the Kosovo boy does not know the word in Albnaian for tomato or he is probably looking at another picture. Albanians in Albania and Kosovo call tomatoes - DOMATE. PATLLIXHAN is in fact melanzana which is the same word as Turkish but the Greeks and Latins have turned P to M and XH to Z. We all have borrowed this word from Turks because they brought it in our area from India as it is not native to Europe.
@@curleddoughnuts6857 Ok and what’s wrong with using Turkish words? Every language has similar words to other languages. There’s not a single language which is 100% “clean” or “unique”. And we also tend to borrow words from our surroundings. For example the word “sminka”, which is a Serbian word for make up. I’ve always used that word for make up not knowing that it’s Serbian. It’s not surprising that Kosovo-Albanian has a lot of Serbian words since we were always under Serbian rule until 2008. The same goes for the Turkish occupation. It’s impossible to not borrow any words after such an occupation. The same goes for other Balkan countries too.
@ I'll provide some examples, here is one. At 04:35 he says "ne shqipen gege i thrasim portokalla". A gheg from the mountains would say "ghegnisht i thojmi portokalla".
@ Yet another at 08:55 where he says nje e prer dhe nje e tërr (trying to spell phonetically). A purely gheg speaker would say "nja e preme edhe nja e plot".

HITHNA is in fact NETTLE not arugula. These kind of greens in Albanian are called LAKRA TE EGRA not rukola not hithna.

@ I nderuar, duke ju përshendetur dhe përgëzuar për kontributin tuaj në ruajtjen e këtij thesari shumë të çmuar për popullin tonë, me lejoni të shpjegohem pse e quaj një dialekt. Arsyeja pse e quaj dialekt është se për mua si të thuash Gjuha Shqipe si Gjuha Arbëreshe është e njëjta gjë, për shkak se ne jemi i njëjti popull, por mbas vdekjes së Gjergj Kastriotit Skenderbeut, për shkaqe historike popullsia arbërore në shumicën trevave të Ballkanit të sotëm e ka ndryshuar emrin nga Arbnorë/Arbrorë në Shqiptarë, ndërsa një pjesë e kësaj popullsie e cila sot jeton në Itali, Greçi dhe Kroaci e ka ruajtur emrin e vjetër dhe sot kjo popullsi quhet me Arbëreshë, Arvanitas dhe Arbneshë. Gjithashtu e quajta dialekt edhe për shkakun se kjo e folur dallon me të folurit e popullsisë arbërore në Greçi dhe Kroaci. Unë jam nga Kosova dhe këtu kemi shumë njerëz që quhen Arbër, Arbën, Arbëror etj, krejt kjo për t'a ruajtur trashëgiminë tonë Arbërore/Shqiptare 🇦🇱

To sting - a ustura (where also our word garlic comes from - usturoi)
You have more words similar to albanian than arberesh because of the Turkish loanwords, but the ones that are Latin origin are more similar to arberesh

Nërënxa jane si portokalle ne pamje te pare, por te hidhura (ne shqipen standarte), ndersa portokalli eshte i ëmbël. Zakonisht gjenden ne jug prandaj ne veri mbase nuk i njohin mire. Ngjyrat Leutrimi i ka pak "mbrapsht" me gjuhen standarte(me shume mundesi mund ti kete dhe gjuha standarte mbrapsht :), e gjelber/jeshile = verde (italisht), e verdhë = giallo (ita).
Nëse nuk e keni ditur jeshile është fjalë turke yeşil ,po ashtu lejla është turqisht leyla. S'kam ide pse janë në standard .

@ Gheg from a town called Velesht. It’s part of Struga which is a city in what is now Macedonia. The city and all the towns that are a part of it are predominantly Albanian.

@ Yellow is either "verdhe" or "sarit" in Kosovo. But actually the root for verdhe is latin verde which means green, so somehow this guy's city is using the right word, while all the rest of us changed its orignial meaning

Ky djale nuk e di mire Shqipen, e ka harruar. He either is color blind or he is mixing up the color names. He called green - verdhe, which means in fact yeallow, while green is jeshile or gjelber.
as far as i know there are dialcts in kosovo that reverse them, they use gjelber for yellow and verdhe for green.

The Kosovo albanan mixed up the colors in the beginning. Yellow is "te verdhe" and Green is "te gjelbert". He mixed these too.
Of course because he does not live in Kosovo
Every region uses different words for colours, we say sarit for yellow and verdhe for green, but maybe i mixed them up in the video

Most Gheg Albanians are proud Muslims. How do the Arbereshe feel about that?
Arberesh are usually proud Christians and being Christian is fundamental to Arberesh identity. They do not generally identify as Albanians and Albanians being Muslim is one of the factors involved in this distancing from Albanians.
@ I recognise that but not all faiths can be correct. Christianity whilst inspired by the teachings of Christ is the work of the Church fathers starting from the council of Nicea. The Quran is the word of God and I say that with all due respect, afterall you are my ethnic kin. Gheg Albanian Muslims will not return to the teachings in the Bible. You have to accept that.

@ I recognise that but those Albanians who have adopted Islam some of them hundreds of years after the exodus to southern Italy will not go back to the teachings of the Church fathers or the Bible. Whichever Bible the Arbereshe adhere to.
In Kosovo we put both our ethnicity and religion first, whether Muslim or Christian. We’re proud of both.
Again the Kosovo boy does not know the word in Albnaian for tomato or he is probably looking at another picture. Albanians in Albania and Kosovo call tomatoes - DOMATE. PATLLIXHAN is in fact melanzana which is the same word as Turkish but the Greeks and Latins have turned P to M and XH to Z. We all have borrowed this word from Turks because they brought it in our area from India as it is not native to Europe.
My family is Albanian from Montenegro and they border Kosovo and we definitely only call it patllixhan.
Nobody in Kosovo uses the word domate, it’s a tosk word.
Patlixhan and Zari are Turkish borrowing, we use it in Kosovo, makes sense we were under Ottoman rule.
@@curleddoughnuts6857 Ok and what’s wrong with using Turkish words? Every language has similar words to other languages. There’s not a single language which is 100% “clean” or “unique”. And we also tend to borrow words from our surroundings. For example the word “sminka”, which is a Serbian word for make up. I’ve always used that word for make up not knowing that it’s Serbian. It’s not surprising that Kosovo-Albanian has a lot of Serbian words since we were always under Serbian rule until 2008. The same goes for the Turkish occupation. It’s impossible to not borrow any words after such an occupation. The same goes for other Balkan countries too.

This guy speaking "gheg" is heavily influenced by standardized and modernized Albanian. This is not pure gheg.
Which words are not gheg?
@ I'll provide some examples, here is one.
At 04:35 he says "ne shqipen gege i thrasim portokalla". A gheg from the mountains would say "ghegnisht i thojmi portokalla".
@ Another at 08:40, dy gjysmë is not gheg, instead we say dy gjysma or dy gjysa.
@ Yet another at 08:55 where he says nje e prer dhe nje e tërr (trying to spell phonetically). A purely gheg speaker would say "nja e preme edhe nja e plot".
Also at 15:55 lakër is not gheg, we say lakën or lakna (plural). Similar to greek λαχανο.
