It closed December of 2018. I was there the second to last day of business watching Creed II. I told them how sad I was because I grew up there basically. They gifted me with a glass stein.
I opened this theater in 2001 and was there when it closed in 2019, it’s literally a turn key operation with a new roof and all new AC units. I want to reopen this as an independent theater

Jon Williams I think you've got it mixed up with something else, the place in this video is next door to Ridgemar Mall. It's at Green Oaks Road and Ridgemar Meadows Road. The Don Pablo's they pointed to is at the corner of Ridgemar Meadows and 183.
Thanks for making this video. I know how hard it is to lose your favorite movie theater. In ames, ia - they closed a mall movie theater around 04-15-14. On Wednesday it was a dollar to see a movie.
I remember when this originally opened. It's over by Ridgmar Mall right? I walked over there from the mall with my friend on my 13th birthday and they had only been opened for a month or two. It was just beautiful back then. I remember we saw "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"
I lived in ft. worth from 83 to 94, lived off las vegas trail and cherry lane. had such a fablous time, but you could'nt pay me to live there now. thanks for walk down memory lane. i live in mineral weells now, seen your drive thru on this town.
General cinema is greatest theater in Dallas fort Worth and I saw those ads on my local CBS affiliate ktvt tv it was independent at the time I was 4. General cinema was good place to watch movies.
Like Blockbuster, the employees seemed to really love movies. At least at our local location, they would recommend movies if you asked. It seemed a bit more personal.
Hi Wallie and Kayla. Just want you both to know that you are appreciated. It's always a good day when you put a new video out. Thanks for all that you do. -R
A great video! I really like the aesthetics on the front of the building. By the way, there's a rumor that the old KMart here in Weirton,WV is going to have a Big Lots open up, but I don't know when or even if there's any truth to the rumor. I'm going to wait and see what happens. Though, last month in July, I did see the front and back doors of the old KMart open and maintenance trucks parked in both the front and back of the old KMart. So, maybe there is some truth to the rumor. Here in Weirton,WV, we have 2 shopping plazas: the one where the old KMart is and the other one over off of Penn. Ave./ Penco Road. Shop N' Save is the anchor store at that shopping plaza. Here in Weirton,WV, we did have a Big Lots store at the shopping plaza where Shop N' Save is.
This actually was a movie tavern. I used to go to it all the time til it closed. I actually got a little tipsy and tripped over one of the parking lot logs circa 2012 lol. Used to be very busy theater. I was sad when it closed. Last thing I saw here was Deadpool 2.
I saw a lot of movies at General Cinema in Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, LA when I was growing up. It has since been torn down. What happened to cinemas in my area was these large multiplexes with stadium seating moved in an those that couldn't upgrade were put out of business. That's probably true everywhere.
I found a empty old school Wal Mart in milligedeville ga thanks for your help with being able to read the spot where the letters hung on the building later young man & lady
I remember going there a few times. Was small but nice theater. 😁 Also remember in the summer Rocky Horror special midnight showing. Anyone remember going to those? You know what I'm talking about.😁🤣 Movie Taverns sadly were just too expensive to compete with the regular theaters.😞
I remember the Rocky Horror shows at midnight... It was always so cool there. Did you ever see that at the old ridglea theatre on camp Bowie before it closed?
I wish I was with you guys when you did this video. Im a fort worth native and grew up watching movies there. So sad it closed last year. If y'all are back in town let me know.
In Champaign Illinois we only have one movie theater left the other one just closed not to long ago and it was very nice looking too and it just got remolded about 5 or so years ago and it has a imax theater at that one too
The Ridgmar Mall area is dying on the vine...however businesses North of the area are going strong. I have seen a lot of movies in that theater right along with old Cherry Lane theater that was close by and been closed for years.
It was a Movie Tavern before it closed! The General Cinema wasn’t there for a long time! Movie Tavern was the last theatre in that building, and it occupied it for a long time!
I agree with what you said about working in a shop in the heat I work in a shop also it’s like you are used to the heat so it doesn’t bother you how hot it gets but I would rather work outside in the heat then inside a office. I’m a outside person not a inside person
We have movie theaters with a restaurant which one is in the mall where Mervyns used to be then we have another called Alamo with dinner & a movie. I've not been to them.
My movie theater has 12 scenes for each movie it so cool in i like it a good place to go in I’m not sure when it open back then in I have a feeling that they will open it back up in Texas in it be cool if they put in a restaurant
Its been hot back here in Pittsburgh, hotter than Hades. No snow in my part of Pittsburgh lol. It has been hot and rainy. Was this done at an earlier date? At any rate, cool video. The bee thing was strange. Thanks WallieB26. Love your videos.
I remember going in there atleast once when it was movie tavern, and there are lots of theater s around fort worth including a not too old drive inn near downtown, kayla probably knows about it, and like they say in Texas if you dont like the weather here just wait 10 min lol
Hey remember back when you was at the Toys R us in White Settlement ? Anyway that vacant lot by the Toys R us that was at 1 time was a general Cinema remember going there to see City heat Burt Reynolds Clint Eastwood this was back in the late 80s and the building was torn down the owner was tired of paying taxes on
you know it's sad to say but i think places like this and shopping malls too are going to become a thing of the past. i hope not but idk as long as this covid thing is around you never know.
You are very much correct. What the Retail Apocalypse started was most definitely finished by C0ViD19 Corona Virus. Double-whammy. Why spend time, money and gas to go shop when you can just order what you want [online], from [the safety of your own home] and have it possibly delivered [to an address of your choice, even if it is your work place] in a few days with no additional cost to you? It is a no-brainer to me.
I remembered i went here once so i just went to ridgmar mall and my mom wanted to watch a movie so we went to that cinema, isnt that cinema close by ridgmar and ross
I would be hesitant to go into a place with must and mold in it even if it's a little bit cause still be strong even for being very little even if I could get inside a place no matter how temping it is
Hey wallie I’m tried to find an email address for you but there is a closed Kmart and it’s still got the Kmart express gas station in front was going to email you the details if you was interested in checking into it some time
My niece worked there once she liked it there she got along with alot of ppl down there and she even took her father my brother to that place so he can watch movies and such while she was working there but my niece told us that this year it closed due to stupid covid19 but I think it was on it's way out due to ppl not running it very well..
It closed December of 2018. I was there the second to last day of business watching Creed II. I told them how sad I was because I grew up there basically. They gifted me with a glass stein.
We had a General Cinema here in NJ at our mall. It was changed over to an AMC theater with food service.
The fact that there are so many lights are on makes this place a bit erie! Woof!
I opened this theater in 2001 and was there when it closed in 2019, it’s literally a turn key operation with a new roof and all new AC units. I want to reopen this as an independent theater
“It smells like a sears” haha I love that description, I know exactly what your talking about.
Rosey R - ...smellll the MUSTY side of Sears.

Wow. I hope that building stays as is without any damage.
That opened as the Las Vegas Trail
8 in the early 80’s. I saw Ghostbusters there in 1984, my senior year. It was a great theatre!

The area around the ridgemar mall has been going through a lot since 2010 which is sad to see
oh i loved ridgmar mall
"It smells likes a Sears!" That's great! 😂

This was actually the first Movie Tavern. It was a one off for a few years before they started expanding.
I remember when this originally opened. It's over by Ridgmar Mall right? I walked over there from the mall with my friend on my 13th birthday and they had only been opened for a month or two. It was just beautiful back then. I remember we saw "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"
I do love how vintage the interiors look.

I remember that theater even before it became a movie tavern but behind it is ridgemar mall and part of carswell airforce base is across the street
Thanks for another great video. U make my boring day's better.
Looks nice! Too bad it’s closed. We had a abandoned Regal in Columbus and it’s now a car lot.
Makes me sad, used to go here all the time
I'm from Texas too. East Houston to be exact. Good one.

According to cinematreasures.org , this was a 7-screener.
Awesome 👍👍
We had General Cinema at our 2 big malls here in Wichita Ks but they are no longer here. I miss GCC and I wish they would come back.
Awesome to see this! Great vid!

I wonder if you went to an abandoned Sears store if it would smell like a General Cinema movie theater.

There's an abandoned Regal Cinema in Martinsburg, WV.
I found a empty old school Wal Mart in milligedeville ga thanks for your help with being able to read the spot where the letters hung on the building later young man & lady
I think right now is not a good time to.open a theater given what's going on. Such a shame how theaters right now are losing.
I remember going there a few times. Was small but nice theater. 😁 Also remember in the summer Rocky Horror special midnight showing. Anyone remember going to those? You know what I'm talking about.😁🤣 Movie Taverns sadly were just too expensive to compete with the regular theaters.😞

Glad you had fun in Texas
Awesome exploration!
I watched Titanic in that theater 7 times when I was a teenager.
In Champaign Illinois we only have one movie theater left the other one just closed not to long ago and it was very nice looking too and it just got remolded about 5 or so years ago and it has a imax theater at that one too

It was a Movie Tavern before it closed! The General Cinema wasn’t there for a long time! Movie Tavern was the last theatre in that building, and it occupied it for a long time!

Good video! There probably will be more movie places close up, with the virus still going around!
We have movie theaters with a restaurant which one is in the mall where Mervyns used to be then we have another called Alamo with dinner & a movie. I've not been to them.
Wallie i found a abandoned Food City and Sears Outlet in Knoxille TN!
What road is this on I am in Fort Worth I don’t recognize this place
They should make that place a skating rink or a topgolf or even a big bar/casino. Not just left sitting to rot for the next 20 years
Cinema 8 closed in Hermitage, Pennsylvania in Feburary 2020 that was close to Giant Eagle.
Cool video! I hope you could do Abandoned Movie Theaters in New Mexico soon
Not a bad looking building. WallieB Cinema and Brews coming soon.
Cool 😀

Was anyone else thinking of Blind Melon and the bee girl?
I thought of Bee Movie🐝🎬
I know what you mean though. I remember when that played constantly on MTV
I swear this used to be a movie tavern, or am I remembering this wrong? But damn, everything around the ridgemar mall is abandoned

There is a rave movie theater a block away, amc, a couple miles off, and another movie tavern.
Before it closed, it was The Movie Tavern! Great place, they just could not get the right people to working there.
You should go search in the old slaughter houses in the stockyards downtown in fort worth
We have an abandoned movie theater in West Orange, Tx. 🎥📽🎬 That's a gorgeous building! Wow, that floor is super shiny! Smells like a SEARS😂😆
that looks like the office space stapler. red stapler. thought of that when i saw that thing.
This one had the Rocky Horror Picture Show once a week and the movies were 4.25 before 5.
This was also the first dine in movie in the franchise. I think it started the dine in all together.
It would be nice to go inside to look around
Disappointingly, 😩.. He never does that..
I'm in the fort worth area around Sws by Mccart and moms in Arlington by copper by uta a small world

Places like this are dying fast...
Some other movie theater will move in here. When, I can't say cause I don't know. Huh??
