Much appreciated. Lots of good information I could have used when restoring my 74 B if I had known about your channel. Mitchell Clifton, North Carolina, USA.

Thank you for the comment Mitchell, I’m trying to cover the parts of an MGB restoration that others seem to skip over.

I did this job a few years ago. My B original windshield was broken and had many scratches and would never pass the inspection in my state of Massachusetts. This is a very hard job with many problems that make it so hard. Yes the Moss rubber gasket is too big. It must be cut down. Then it is very difficult to put the other gaskets in. Also when the windshield is finally together, then the real fun begins. The gasket at the bottom of the windshield must be compressed so that the bolts that hold the windshield to the body of the car must go into the holes of the windshield. That means that the windshield must be pushed down so that the bolts can go into the threaded holes. I remember to do this I had to push the windshield down using a screw Jack against the roof of the garage! This was a delicate job as if I twisted the windshield, I would break the glass. I was finally able to push the windshield down far enough so the boots were able to be screwed into place. What I am saying that even after finally putting the windshield together, you still have a challenge ahead of you, connecting the windshield to the MGB body!

You are "bang on" my friend, I have been told to rest the screen in position and progressively push the screen down into place, after two days of resting and pushing I nearly got one bolt in place yesterday. I have had suggestions of using a heat gun to make the rubber a bit more supple, its either that or wait until summer here in Aus so everything becomes a bit more supple / pliable. Well while i'm waiting for the seal to age into position I'm getting other stuff done. This is by far the most challenging job I have undertaken on almost any vehicle I have worked on. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger", screw jack, shed roof, I like it, adapt, improvise, overcome.
