As we delve into the history of the wild hog in America, we uncover a story that is both fascinating and complex. These animals, also known as feral pigs or wild boars, were not originally native to the United States. Rather, they were brought over from Europe by early colonizers in the 1500s. These colonizers had several reasons for bringing hogs to America. One of the primary reasons was for food. Hogs were a valuable source of protein that could be raised relatively easily and provide a sustainable source of meat for the colonizers. In addition, hogs were known for their adaptability to new environments and ability to forage for food, making them a valuable resource for early settlers. Hogs were also used for hunting purposes, as they were often released into the wild to breed and establish populations that could later be hunted for sport.

These measures include advanced trapping techniques, coordinated hunting efforts, and the use of modern surveillance technology to track and control the boar population.

*Domesticating and raising wild boars is a smart way to control wild boar populations*

The problem is only as great as the landowners label them. Some want them on their land and see it as a 💵generator. Lol

Why you, would put a Warthog picture in as part of the pigs found in Amerika, makes me think you want to lay an egg somewhere someplace. Not sure where.

Correct America is bless, there is plenty of food as you say and the wild feral pigs make a huge contribution to that bonanza. And that's where we can thank our British ancestors for making the mistake of bringing them here in the first place. However it would have happened anyway because when you establish a colony and set up many pig farms, some of them are bound to escape and once that happens, there ain't much one can do, not with there foraging ability and high reproductive output.
