I can see DJ really working as C\\\\\\\\J, but I do believe that he may have ended stealing the show, as it were, from AL as the magnificently austere CM.
@Johnno9999 It's not that important. My point was just he was one of the last surviving cast members. There's no need to get overly concerned about it.
I saw the original broadcast of this and remember being really confused as a kid. I always thought that Dad's Army was filmed in the 1950s. I also remember my parents telling me that all the cast were dead, with the exception of Pike. So when Jones (who I thought was the oldest back then) appears here, looking and sounding exactly as he did in Dad's Army, I wondered what was going on.
I've half a mind to think this is one of his original uniforms - there's a small less faded patch on the right arm where his HOME GUARD armband would have been
I used to love watching the house party and always thought that Noel would be a fun type of bloke, But I was with one of the Mr Puniverses on the last season. I am a wheelchair user, and had to sit through numerous rehearsals in the studio. I sat quietly throughout them. and Noel was getting things wrong. he became frustrated and had a go at me. I had said nothing at all. but he was rude and nasty. he never mixed with guests after the show either. he had no time for them. Paul McCartney was on the same show and he was a total Gent to us. he approached us and spent time genuinely chatting to us, He even at one point apologised for Noels rudeness. After that I have never been able to like Noel. everything about him is false. not a nice man at all.

Thank you so much for posting this! i have not seen this since that night it was shown on tv, i remembered it well, i cant believe someone taped it. i was 5 when i first saw this!
rackinfrackin, your comment is very funny, but I'm sorry to say that (I saw on wiki) the show was Noel Edmonds' house party. No connection to dear Noel Coward... Shame. Anyway... As you may recall: Jonesy said "Germans don't like it up 'em!" And Noel Coward was not German. Hehe...
When comedy was well written, clever and you warmed to the characters who became part of your life. I have grown old since this gem was first aired, and continue to watch the reruns because they are like family to me. Except for PIKE, I think they are all gone now, but the pleasure of their antics, that appeals to all ages, lives on.
Clive's character wasn't my favourite and I thought often annoying. However, I do think that each character was important to the success of Dad's Army.
God bless Clive Dunn forever an absolutely wonderful brilliant actor and a lovely man to boot!🤗💂🐪🐎🐴🔫🏜️🇬🇧
"Is this the imperial war museum am here to get stuff" 🤣🤣🤣
David Jason was originally pencilled in to play corporal jones in Dad's Army, but Clive Dunn got the job at the last minute....
I love david jason. Only fools is my favourite programme but clive dunne plays this role perfectly and is more suited to it.
And Jack Haig.

Lovely man, he was our next door neighbour in Barnes until he moved to Portugal. RIP Clive Dunn. #TravelMusic

@@TravelMusicEntertainment1 that is so awesome i love dads army i bet he was a great neighbour.
loved the lads from dad's army, Clive especially. RIP Sir.
The roar he got at the start defines how good he was. RIP
It's a Noel's House Party audience, they roared pretty much the same at everything and everyone.
The Great thing here is that he had reached the age that Cp. Jones was and he's not missing a beat.
It's lovely to see this but also sad to see him alone cos most of them were gone by this point.
Absolute class. Love jack jones
@Johnno9999 Pike is the only one of the platoon left. Sponge died a few years ago too.
@Johnno9999 Colin Bean who played Private Sponge died a few years ago.
@Johnno9999 It's not that important. My point was just he was one of the last surviving cast members. There's no need to get overly concerned about it.
@Johnno9999 pike and the Vicar are the only ones still here in 2021

Goodbye Jonesy
I knew and worked with Clive in later years, having watched DA as a kid. He was such a performer, and a lovely man. He’d have us in fits all the time.

Kevin Davies you have validated what I always thought. That he was as fake as Katie Price’s boobs!

I believe Edmonds held theories about disabled people being punished for things done wrong in previous lives.
Strange man.
Remember watching these with my nan and mom there both gone now happy memorys. Rip crpl jones
Loved dads army good memories of watching the programmes with my mum and dad over the years.

Clive Dunn at Noel Coward's House Party. Contrary to Corporal Jones' stated opinion, Noel Coward DID like it up 'im.
rackinfrackin, your comment is very funny, but I'm sorry to say that (I saw on wiki) the show was Noel Edmonds' house party. No connection to dear Noel Coward... Shame.
Anyway... As you may recall: Jonesy said "Germans don't like it up 'em!"

Serendipidy is very tasty, very sweet. Thanks for bringing this to us.

I remember being quite excited at seeing this as a kid as I had assumed the actor had been long dead.

Everytime I'm shooting my SMLE with its bayonet, i think of Corp. Jones saying that!
Aah ,Clive Dunn the WW2 veteran and comedy genius!

He must like the camel core joke used on wogan aswell
Do I have enough for sausages.
What show is this
I didn't like it. The whole thing seemed to be too far into the realm of fantasy.
