Interesting and informative and entertaining. Special thanks to veteran soldiers/civilians sharing personal information/combat experiences. Making this documentary more authentic and possible. Special shout out to 🚑 medical personnel medics/stretcher bearers 😇 risking life and limb tending to the wounded soldiers. An army that's slowly retreating (Germany) unfortunately can't always transport the wounded. To hospitals out of harms way. 😭😭 The misfortunes of war. Out of curiosity did the Russian wounded soldiers. Receive 1/2 way decent medical 🚑 treatment???

these pieces are badly named and numbered. it says this is "part 3", but where are the other two, what are they named, and are they numbered--as they should. when things are posted in many parts, then the name should be identical to them all, except the addition of "part 1, part 2, part 3......" else there is no way of finding them, unless a person listens to the entire collection (unlikely) and try to put the pieces together. NOT DONE WELL naming and numbering these.

Spain was VERY friendly to the Third Reich. But Franko was smart enough to realize that Spain had nothing to gain from actually joining the war. To bad Mussolini got sucked in.

Spain offered. But Franco was smart enough to claim they needed excessive resources and equipment because of losses from their civil war.
He knew Germany likely couldn't afford what he requested. And if they did it was because the war was near the end and Germany was going to be victorious, so he could jump in and claim some of the spoils.
I've seen different numbers, but a fair number of Spaniards did join the German foreign corps.

There are extant writings from Hitler who said he admired Franco and Spain, over Mussolini and the Italians. The reason given was Spain's fears under Muslim rule, ending in 1492, which he thought gave a stronger more ruthless character to the Spanish, versus the Italians who were for the last 1900 years Catholic. A religion he despised (shown by the number of Catholic priests, brothers and sisters killed in Concentration camps. In total these numbered about 20,000). The narrator mentioned the Catholic chaplain which Hitler He in rock at al. had to allow to keep the enlisted soldiers happy. It should be noted that the

John Toland, the historian, was once asked on a radio show to name the person that he thought was most responsible for the Allies winning WWII.
His response was quite surprising to me and the interviewer. It was Franco.
    He asked him to explain.
Hitler had helped Franco get into power and as payback he asked Franco to let his forces to pass through Spain and attack Gibraltar.
If Hitler controlled Gibraltar there is no Africa Campaign. Egypt is lost, the Suez Canal is useless to the British and shipping from the Far East has to to around the Horn of Africa.
Franco told Hitler that he would be happy to help, but that the railway gauges were different between France and Spain and would take some time to convert. Long story short he delayed Hitler until Gibraltar became a moot point.
    Why, asked the interviewer?
Toland said he wasn't sure but suspected that it might have something to do with one of Franco's grandparents having been jewish!
