- Network discovery is a good feature to simplify your daily routine on maintaining a rapidly changing environment. Active registration is good, but it is limited only to hosts with the Zabbix agent. However, Network discovery does not have any limitations.

I am evaluating Zabbix for the environment as SolarWinds had to be taken down for obvious reasons. Can you please advise what is the OID that needs to be used for a Bulk network discovery similar to what happens in SolarWinds. I am confused on what to specify in Zabbix for a bulk network discovery for the network Management Vlan. I would be using SNMPv2. Thanks in advance.

Can a discovery rule support multiple IP ranges? I don't see it explicitly stated here nor in documentation; forgive if I'm missing it.
/24 doesn't work when using an ip range or does it need to be formatted differently?

So how do you get rid of host that are not discovered anymore? I miss that part. I feel like network discovery is important for adding and removing hosts at the same time.

Need more. You need to apply to Pluralsight or Udemy and make money for doing this. I'd pay I have been using Zabbix for a while now and love it and want to learn more so thanks for sharing your knowledge but need more pls. One thing lacking is adequate Zabbix support for things like HA/ fail over and alerts to SCOM for example.
Common question is can you have the discovery use the host name rather than IP? I ask but I actually updated them myself "manually"
You will get hostname instead of IP if zabbix will be able to resolve it. So you need to use hosts file. If I would use udemy, many folks would not be able to see this content :) if you whant to support financially - theres a patreon link in description with additional content and other perks.
Hi, In my network, there are cases with routers of different manufacturers, with IP addresses in multiple different subnets. To auto-discover the hosts, put them in host groups and link templates based on manufacturer, I have different discovery rules for the different subnets, and on the rules I have check for ICMP, "sysName.0" and "sysObjectID.0" where for hostname and uniqueness criteria I set "sysName.0". I also have actions to add to Host groups and link to templates based on values received from discovery checks, discovery status, service type and host IP range. Every thing works except that I have observed on subsequent scans, hosts are being re-added with name "_2" even though I have the uniqueness criteria setting...as "sysName.0". What could be the issue here....?

DO we need 3 different machines to successfully run Zabbix ? 1 for Zabbix component, 1 for database and 1 for Web server ? OR 1 machine would be enough to test it for like 20-30 machines ?? and what is the most stable version of Zabbix to run with Centos ?? and if possible please suggest the cpu, memory , requirements to monitor up to 50 machines ..

What is the best way to automatically add all the devices in our network to the Zabbix frontend? I am thinking Active registration for Zabbix agents (Windows and Linux) and network discovery for the rest of the hosts like network devices, printers and UPSs.
If you will create proper conditions in multiple actions. that may become fully automated thing for you
In the oid can I put in 1. So it finds all the oids for any device?
Network discovery is not a low level discovery. You need to put single OID that returns single value
